>> THE STUDENTS WERE TOLD THEY COULD DO HEALTH SCREENS WHEN THEY ARRIVED TO CAMPUS.

HOWEVER, SOME STUDENTS CAME TO CAMPUS AND GOT THE TEMPERATURES CHECKED AND DIDN'T TAKE THE QUESTIONNAIRE BEFORE HEADING TO CLASS.

RICK LOPEZ ASKED TO TRY TO SOLVE THE ISSUES THAT POPPED UP.

OVERALL BOTH FACULTY AND THE DISTRICT ACTIVELY COMMUNICATED TO ADDRESS THESE ISSUES AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE.

ON TOP OF THE USUAL STRESS OF WEEK ONE, THOSE FEW FACULTY AND STUDENTS WHO WILL TEACH AND LEARN ON CAMPUS THIS SEMESTER ARE EXPERIENCING BRAND NEW PROTOCOLS FOR COMING TO CAMPUS AND BRAND NEW WAYS OF INTERACTING IN THE CLASSROOM.

IT IS STRANGE AND MAYBE DIFFICULT TO ADJUST.

I'M BOTH PROUD AND WORRIED ABOUT THEM, HOWEVER.

PROUD FOR THEIR DEDICATION IT EDUCATION BUT WORRIED FOR THE RISK OF INFECTION IT WILL BE ON A REGULAR BASIS IN THE SEMESTER.

THE STRESS WAS HIGH EVEN BEFORE WEEK ONE.

FACULTY ON CAMPUS WITH THE LOGISTICS OF INSURING THEIR PROGRAMS AND TRYING TO ENSURE THE HEALTH AND WELL€'BEING OF EVERYONE THAT WOULD BE ON CAMPUS THIS FALL.

WE'RE WORKING OUT THESE LOGISTICS.

FACULTY REACHED OUT TO FACULTY LEADERSHIP IN THE PAST WEEK TO ASSIST WITH THE PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS.

THEY NEEDED TO HOLD TWO LAPS ON SATURDAY, THEY SAID.

BUT THE HEALTH CHECK AND STATIONS WERE NOT SCHEDULED TO BE ON CAMPUS ON THE WEEKENDS IT SEEMS. HOWEVER, WITH THE HELP OF THE SENATE PRESIDENT, THE ISSUE WAS RECENTLY RESOLVED.

THERE ARE OTHER BUMPS IN THE ROAD THAT WE'VE ENCOUNTERED.

WE HOPE TO SEE A FAIR PROCESS AND REASONABLE RESOLUTION TO THESE ISSUES.

BEGINNING IS COMMITTED TO HELP OUR FACULTY TO THIS TIME AND TO ENASSURE BOTH SAFETY AND RIGHTS ARE PROTECTED.

THANK YOU.

[1.05 Reports and Comments from Constituent Groups]

>> THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

AND I'LL MOVE ON TO €'€' TO CSCA PRESIDENT, KATHY HOGUE.

>> I MOVE ON TO MISS VALERIE ESCOBAR REPRESENTING ASCC.

>> GOOD AFTERNOON, EVERYONE, I GOT OUT OF A SCAVENGER HUNT TODAY FOR STUDENTS SO WE HAVE STUDENT ENGAGEMENT.

IT WAS A LOT OF FUN.

I GUESS WE ALL GOT WORKED UP AND A LITTLE SWEATY AROUND FOR THE SCAVENGER HUNT.

WE HAVE BOOTHS, STUDENTS CAN POP BUY, IT IS THROUGH ZOOM.

IF THEY HAVE QUESTIONS, WE CAN HELP THEM OUT OR DIRECT THEM TO WHERE THEY COULD FIND HELP.

WE HAVE LEADERSHIP AUGUST 25TH AT 12 NOON THROUGH ZOOM AS WELL SO STUDENTS CAN GET INFORMATION IN REGARDS TO STUDENT LIFE LEADERSHIP.

WE HAVE ASCC SENATE INFORMATIONAL GATHERINGS THROUGH ZOOM AS WELL.

OUR FIRST ICC FULL MEETING WILL BE AT 11 A.M.

THROUGH ZOOM.

THAT WOULD BE €'€' ON THE 27TH.

SEPTEMBER 2ND WE'LL HAVE ORIENTATION FOR THOSE THAT WOULD LIKE TO JOIN THE SENATE.

WE WILL LOOK FOR NEW CABINET MEMBERS AND COURT MEMBERS SO ANY STUDENT HAS ANY QUESTIONS OR WOULD LIKE TO GET INVOLVED, THEY COULD E€'MAIL ME DIRECTLY OR E€'MAIL AJ AS WELL.

>> THANK YOU VERY MUCH MISS ESCOBAR.

THAT INCLUDES OUR UPDATES FROM GROUPS TODAY.

WE WILL NOW MOVE ON TO ITEM NUMBER 2.01 IN OPEN SESSION, THE RECOMMENDATION AND

[2.01 Institutional Presentation: Recognition of Managers of the Year]

MANAGERS OF THE YEAR.

>> I LIKE TO €'€' LET'S SEE, FILIPPI FIRST.

[00:05:08]

TO INTRODUCE [INDISCERNIBLE].

>> GOOD EVENING, BOARD OF TRUSTEES, WE HAVE MY PLEASURE TO INTRODUCE THE CLASSIFIED MANAGER OF THE YEAR, BEING CARLOS SERENA WHO IS OUR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS MANAGER.

I THINK I SEE CARLOS'S AUDIO CONNECTING.

BUT I WANT TO SAY A COUPLE OF WORDS FROM €'€' FROM CARLOS ON BEHALF OF CARLOS.

I'M GOING TO READ A COUPLE OF QUOTES THAT A NUMBER OF COLLEAGUES SUBMITTED ON CARLOS'S NOMINATION FOR MANAGER OF THE YEAR.

AND SO HERE €'€' HERE'S JUST A FEW.

CARLOS IS NOT SATISFIED WITH THE STATUS QUO.

INSTEAD HE TAKES A PROACTIVE APPROACH IN MANAGING HIS AREA BY EVALUATING HIS WEAKNESSES AND TAKING ACTION TO MAKE IMPROVEMENTS.

HERE'S ANOTHER ONE.

CARLOS HOLDS HIMSELF TO A HIGH STANDARD WHEN PERFORMING HIS DUTIES AND EXPECTS NO LESS FROM HIS DEPARTMENT.

HE UNDERSTANDS AN EFFECTIVE MANAGER CAN HAVE A POSITIVE IMPACT ON THE PERFORMANCE OF EMPLOYEES.

HERE'S €'€' HERE'S ONE THAT €'€' THAT I DEFINITELY AGREE WITH.

I NEVER HEARD CARLOS SAY NO OR I'M TOO BUSY.

I COULD FIND A WAY TO MEET REQUESTS REGARDING OF HOW €'€' HOW MUCH TIME IT TAKES.

THESE ARE JUST A FEW OF THE ITEMS AND €'€' AND €'€' THAT OUR COLLEAGUES SUBMITTED ON BEHALF OF CARLOS.

ON A PERSONAL NOTE, I'M THANKFUL TO HAVE CARLOS ON €'€' ON THE CERRITOS COLLEGE TEAM.

OVER THE LAST SUMMER, I'VE BEEN WORKING HAND IN HAND WITH CARLOS AS WE'VE BEEN PLANNING TO REOPENING AND INVITING AND HAVING LABS ON CAMPUS.

CARLOS HAS BEEN A KEY FIGURE IN GETTING ALL OF THE SAFEGUARDS PUT IN PLACE, GETTING PROTOCOLS IN PLACE AND TO MAINTAIN A SAFE ENVIRONMENT.

I COULDN'T DO IT WITHOUT THE SUPPORT OF CARLOS.

I APPRECIATE EVERYTHING HE'S DONE ON OUR BEHALF.

WELL DESERVED RECOMMENDATION FOR CARLOS AS MANAGER OF THE YEAR.

CARLOS WOULD YOU LIKE TO SAY A WORD? YOU'RE MUTED NOW.

STILL MUTED.

>> THERE YOU GO.

>> CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW? I WANT TO TAKE A MOMENT TO THANK FELIPE FOR GIVING ME AN OPPORTUNITY TO BE PART OF SUCH A GREAT ORGANIZATION.

I LOVE THE COLLEGE AND WE'RE MOVING TO THE FOCUS ON STUDENTS AND JUST BEING ABLE TO BE A PART OF THAT, IT MAKES ME PROUD.

AGAIN, THANK YOU.

APPRECIATE THE OPPORTUNITY.

I'M HERE TO HELP WITH ANYTHING THAT IS EVER NEEDED.

>> CARLOS, APPRECIATE IT.

>> NOW I LET RICK INTRODUCE ANDREW.

WE'VE BEEN TALKING ABOUT YOU GARY.

>> YES, HI.

GOOD EVENING.

IT IS MY PLEASURE TO INTRODUCE, ALL OF YOU KNOW, INTRODUCE ONE OF THIS YEAR'S NEWEST MANAGER OF THE YEARS, ADDING HIM HERE.

I'M GOING TO START WITH A QUOTE.

SOME OF YOU MAY KNOW THAT HE HAS KEY PHRASES.

I'LL STICK WITH ONE.

HE'S WORRIED WHEN I START WITH THE [INDISCERNIBLE].

HERE IT IS.

WHY DO WE KEEP DOING IT THIS WAY? IT IS CRAZY.

SO, I'M GOING TO TELL YOU THAT LITTLE QUOTE THERE HAS REALLY SET ANDREW ON COURSE FOR THE CAMPUS FOR CHANGE.

I THINK DR. FAEROE AND I HAVE SEEN THE APPROACH AND ATTITUDE AND WHAT WAS DEEP DOWN FROM THE FIRST INTERVIEWS.

THAT THINKING HAS CONTINUED IN A GOOD WAY WHY WE FOLLOW THE PRACTICES WE DO AND SOME OF THE CLASSES TO FIND NEW AND INNOVATIVE WAYS.

DURING COVID, WE COULD LOOK AT COVID PRETTY QUICK HERE AS WHAT HAS HAPPENED IN THE

[00:10:03]

RECENT.

HE WAS ABLE TO ALMOST SINGLE HANDEDLY BEFORE THE REST OF US WAS UP TO SPEED DIGITIZE THE PROCESSES.

THAT IS NOT HELPFUL FOR THE CAMPUS BUT FOR HIS TEAM AND FACULTY TO HAVE THAT IN PLACE AS EVERYONE WORKED REMOTELY.

YOU THINK ABOUT THE SPIDER WEB AS THE INFORMATION GOES OUT TO OUR MIXTURE.

BEFORE THAT ANDREW STEPPED IN 8705 AT THE START OF HIS TENURE HERE WHICH WAS THE CHANGE AND AS €'€' AS MATH AND ENGLISH AND ESL.

HE'S DONE A PHENOMENAL JOB.

IT IS ONE THING TO SAY WE'RE GOING TO CHANGE THE CLASSES, BUT IT IS ANOTHER TO GET YOUR FACULTY TO UNDERSTAND.

HE'S DONE A FABULOUS JOB WORKING WITH THE FACULTY IN THE LAST YEAR AND A HALF TO HELP THEM COME ALONG AND HELP THEM LEARN TO READ THE DATA AS WELL.

I APPRECIATE WHAT HE'S DONE.

THE MATH DEPARTMENT IS OFFERING WHAT WE NEED AND THAT'S THROUGH THE LEADERSHIP OF ANDREW.

I APPRECIATE THAT.

>> ALONG THE LAST YEAR AND A HALF ALSO IS ANDREW'S ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT ABILITIES.

HE'S ABLE TO LOOK AT ONE OF THE LARGEST DIVISIONS ON CAMPUS WITH A WIDESPREAD OF CLASSES, WIDE BREADTH OF CLASSES AND RIGHT SIDE, IF YOU WILL TO HELP EFFICIENCIES, TO MAKE SURE HIS CLASSES, HE'S NEARLY 80 PERCENT CAPACITY ON AVERAGE FOR ALL OF HIS CLASSES.

THAT SETS THE BAR FOR THE CAMPUS.

IT REALLY €'€' WHAT IT DOES IS ALLOW OUR STUDENTS TO HAVE ALL OF THE COURSES THEY NEED.

THE TIME OF DAY AND THE PROGRAMS THEY NEED TO COMPLETE.

SO THESE ARE JUST A FEW THINGS.

I COULD GO ON AND ON.

ANDREW IS DESERVING OF THIS TITLE AND I'M HAPPY TO HAVE HIM PART OF CERRITOS AND IN MANY WAYS HELP ME SEE NEW OPPORTUNITIES AS WELL.

THANK YOU, ANDREW.

>> CONGRATULATIONS, ANDREW.

YOU LIKE TO SAY ANYTHING?

>> COUPLE OF QUICK WORDS.

FIRST THANK YOU, THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

YOU KNOW, I €'€' I €'€' HONESTLY I WOULD RESPOND WITH A LEADER AS GOOD AS HER OR HIS TEAM AND €'€' AND I €'€' YOU KNOW, SCIENCE ENGINEERING AND MATHEMATICS IS A BEOMETH.

A LOT OF WORKING PARTS AND WE TALK ABOUT LABORATORIES AND WE TALK ABOUT TOTALLY CHANGING HOW WE OFFER MATHEMATICS.

SO I WOULD HONESTLY SAY THAT I WOULD €'€' WOULD SHARE THIS AWARD WITH MY TEAM.

THIS IS NOT JUST TO ME.

THIS IS AN AWARD TO THE ENTIRE DIVISION OF SCIENCE.

WITHOUT THE PHENOMENAL FACULTY AND STAFF AND S.E.M.

I WOULDN'T GET THIS AWARD.

I'M LEADING THEM, BUT €'€' JUST BECAUSE I LEAD DOESN'T MEAN I'M FOLLOWED AND WHAT I'M TRYING TO €'€' TO €'€' TO MAKE HAPPEN IN THE DIVISION AND €'€' AND THE FACULTY AND STAFF HAVE BEEN ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL, BOTH WITHIN S.E.M.

AND ACROSS.

MY APPRECIATION TO EVERYBODY AT THE COLLEGE FOR €'€' FOR PUTTING UP WITH MY €'€' MY BOLD OPINIONS AND €'€' AND WORKING WITH ME TO DO GREAT THINGS.

I ALSO WANT TO CONGRATULATE MY FELLOW MANAGER OF THE YEAR, CARLOS YOU ARE FANTASTIC.

YOU €'€' YOU HAVE BEEN WONDERFUL FOR THE SCIENCE LABORATORY.

I CAN ASSURE YOU MY FACULTY SING YOUR PRAISES.

SO €'€' SO MY APPRECIATION TO YOU FOR THE GREAT WORK YOU AND YOUR TEAM HAVE DONE.

>> THANK YOU, ANDREW.

>> THANK YOU.

NOW GARY.

GARY ACTING PRESIDENT, SAY A FEW WORDS.

GO AHEAD.

>> THANK YOU.

CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN, GOOD EVENING PRESIDENT PEREZ AND TRUSTEES.

AND TIME TO CELEBRATE EXCELLENT IN MANAGEMENT.

IT IS A NICE EVENING FOR US.

WE APPRECIATE THAT.

ABRAHAM LINCOLN SAID WE SHOULD NOT STRIVE FOR FOR RECOGNITION.

CERRITOS IS A GREAT PLACE TO WORK.

ALL OF US MANAGERS AGREE.

WE'RE SO PROUD TO HAVE ANDREW AND CARLOS AS PART OF OUR TEAM.

[00:15:07]

THEY'RE WONDERFUL ADDITIONS TO THE CAMPUS AND FAMILY.

OPERATION MANAGER, CARLOS SERENA, CONGRATULATIONS AND CONTINUED SUCCESS.

THANK YOU.

>> THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

CONGRATULATIONS.

ANDREW.

CARLOS.

THE GUYS HAVE DONE FANTASTIC WORK.

I HOPE THE €'€' THE FANTASTIC WORK IS GETTING BETTER AND BETTER EVERY DAY AND MORE AND MORE OF SUCCESS BEING PRODUCED.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

I'M PROUD TO HAVE YOU BOTH AS PART OF THE CERRITOS COLLEGE FAMILY.

>> ALL RIGHT.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

THANK YOU SO MUCH, ANDREW AND CARLOS FOR JOINING US HERE TODAY AND FOR BEING PART OF THIS €'€' THIS CELEBRATION OF YOU BOTH FOR €'€' IN YOUR TEENS FOR ALL OF THE WORK YOU DO ON BEHALF OF SO MANY PEOPLE HERE AT CERRITOS COLLEGE.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH ON BEHALF OF THE BOARD.

ALL RIGHT.

CONGRATULATIONS, WE WILL NOW €'€' MOVE ON TO OUR NEXT ITEM WHICH IS ITEM 2.02,

[2.02 Institutional Presentation: Update on Trustee Fellowship Program]

INSTITUTIONAL PRESENTATION UPDATE ON TRUSTEE FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM.

>> THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

WE HAVE BEEN PARTICIPATING WITH €'€' WITH €'€' WITH €'€' WITH AVALOS AND RODRIQUEZ AND SERIES OF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS THAT WERE PUT IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE ASPEN INSTITUTE AND THE CHANCELLOR'S OFFICE AND THE TRUSTEES FROM I BELIEVE ALMOST ALL DISTRICTS AT THIS STATE.

ESSENTIALLY WHAT WE'RE WORKING ON THESE WORKSHOP IS TRYING TO €'€' TO FIND THE RIGHT APPROACH FOR THE BOARD TO BE INVOLVED IN STUDENT SUCCESS AND INITIATIVES AND HOW THE BOARD CAN HELP US BE ACCOUNTABLE AND FOCUSED IN WHAT MATTERS AND FROM THE PRESIDENT'S SIDE HOW €'€' HOW €'€' HOW TO COMPLAINT TO WORK WITH THE BOARD TO PORTEND INFORMATION THAT IS RELEVANT FOR WHAT MATTERS WHICH IN THIS PARTICULAR CASE, WE'RE TALKING ABOUT THE STUDENT SUCCESS.

OR EMPHASIS IN THE CONVERSATIONS THAT WE HAVE HAD OVER THE LAST SEMINARS HAVE BEEN FOCUSED ABOUT THIS €'€' AROUND THIS PROPORTIONAL IMPACT GROUPS.

MANY OF YOU HAVE HEAR ME TALK ABOUT THAT.

AND BAD NEWS IS €'€' IS THAT CONVERSATION IS NO GOING AWAY ANYTIME SOON.

WE CONTINUE TO TALK ABOUT €'€' ABOUT DISPROPORTIONATELY IMPACT THE GROUPS AND RODRIQUEZ AND THE REST OF THE BOARD WILL CONTINUE TO LEARN MORE ABOUT €'€' ABOUT €'€' ABOUT THE WORK AND WE STILL HAVE TO DO MEETING THE NEEDS OF THE IMPACTED GROUP.

I THINK THIS WORK IS PARTICULARLY RELEVANT AT THIS TIME AND GETTING THE SOCIAL UNREST THAT WE HAVE AND SYSTEMATIC RACISM AND OPPRESSION THAT EXISTS IN MULTIPLE INSTITUTIONS.

AND A WAY TO CONTRIBUTE TO DISMANTLING THAT €'€' THAT €'€' THOSE SYSTEMS OF OPPRESSION IS FOR US TO MAKE ACADEMIC CHANGES AND STRUCTURAL CHANGES AT CERRITOS COLLEGE THAT WOULD ALLOW US TO CLOSE THE GAPS THAT ASSIST THE GROUPS IN THE CAMPUS THAT ARE DISPROPORTIONATELY IMPACTED GROUPS.

WE'LL CONTINUE TO DO THE WORK AND HARVEST THAT DATA AND THE GOAL OF THIS IS TO BEGIN SERIOUS INFORMATIONAL WORKSHOPS TO THE ENTIRE BOARD FOR THE BOARD TO BECOME MORE FAMILIAR WITH THE GAPS THAT EXIST.

OR DIFFERENT STUDENT GROUPS AND FROM THAT POINT ON, CONTINUE CONVERSATIONS ON CAMPUS AND INFORM THE BOARD OF THE WORK THAT IS BEING DONE TO CLOSE DISPROPORTIONATELY IMPACTED GROUP.

ALL OF THIS IS PLANNED TO BE DONE AROUND DATA AND WHAT THE PARAMETERS THE ASPEN INSTITUTE.

WE'RE USED TO GO COLLATION OF INDICATORS.

WE MEASURE THE VALUATION GRADE AND THAT'S A LAGGING INDICATOR.

[00:20:01]

THERE'S NOTHING WE COULD DO ONCE IT HAS BEEN GRADUATED BECAUSE IT ALREADY WENT TO THE TIME IT TOOK TO GET THROUGH.

WHAT WE NEED TO DO IS IDENTIFY PIECES WITHOUT LEADING INDICATORS, THE TRIGGER THAT WOULD ALLOW US TO MAKE CHANGES BEFORE THE STUDENT AND THEY BENEFIT FROM THE CHANGES WILL MAKE.

THERE'S A SLIDE I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE WITH ALL OF YOU.

SO ONE OF THE PIECES AND I THINK ALL CAMPUSES, BUT €'€' OBVIOUSLY, I'M BIASSED BUT PARTICULARLY CERRITOS COLLEGE HAS BEEN WORKING ON OVER THE LAST YEARS IS ALIGNMENT OF ROLES AND CONTINUE TO FOCUS FOR ACTIONS AROUND STUDENT SUCCESS.

THAT IS €'€' THAT IS EASIER SAID THAN DONE.

IT HAS TAKEN SEVERAL YEARS TO ALIGN GOALS.

WE'RE ECSTATIC TO DO THAT.

WE WILL SHARE D ISPROPORTIONATELY IMPACTED GROUPS.

IN ORDER TO CONTINUE THE WORK AND THE WORK WE'RE DOING.

AND €'€' AND THIS PARTICULAR SLIDE IS IMPORTANT BECAUSE €'€' BECAUSE IT ILLUSTRATES HOW TRUSTEES CAN SUPPORT INSTITUTIONAL CHANGE WHICH IS WHAT WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DO.

AT CERRITOS COLLEGE I WILL HAVE TO SAY AND I THINK WE THINK ABOUT THIS AS WELL AND WHEN WE HAVE MET WITH THE DIFFERENT GROUPS, WE ARE AHEAD IN A LOT OF WORK THAT HAS BEEN DONE.

WE HAVE GOALS IN THE MASTER PLAN.

WE HAVE GOALS THAT ALIGN WITH THE TRUSTEES AND THE PRESIDENT AND VICE PRESIDENT AND FROM THAT POINT ON.

YEAH.

THAT IS [INDISCERNIBLE] TAKEN TIME TO GET THERE.

THERE'S WORK THAT HAS BEEN DONE AT CERRITOS COLLEGE THAT IS NOT NECESSARILY VERY COMMON OCCURRENCE IN THE INSTITUTIONS.

SO IN ORDER TO UNDERSTAND AND COMMIT TO THE GOALS THAT IS THE FIRST STEP, COMMON GOALS.

THEN WILLING TO WORK ON A STRATEGY AND HOW WE'RE GOING TO ACTUALLY MEASURE THOSE STRATEGIES.

IT GOES WITHOUT SAYING THAT THE GOALS NEED TO BE AROUND EQUITY.

AND IT HAS TO BE FOCUSED ON LEADING AND LAGGING INDICATORS, PREFERABLY LAGGING €'€' I'M SORRY, PREFERABLY LEADING INDICATORS, MEANING FACTORS THAT IMPACT STUDENTS PERFORMANCE OR ACCESS TO EDUCATION AND WHILE THEY AT CAMPUS, NOT AFTER THEY LEAVE DO WE FIND OUT HOW MANY DIDN'T MAKE IT.

WE NEED TO SET AMBITIOUS GOALS FOR GRADUATION, FOR STUDENT SUCCESS, AND TRANSFER AND FOR WORK.

WE HAVE DONE THIS KNOWINGLY WHEN WE SET UP THE GOALS AND THE EDUCATIONAL MASTER PLAN OF INCREASING THE CULTURE OF COMPLETION.

THAT'S INTERCONNECTED.

NOW WE JUST HAVE TO SET NUMBERS BY HOW MUCH AND WHEN ARE WE EXPECTING TO SEE THOSE PIECES.

THIS IS NOT A PENALIZE YOU IF WE DIDN'T LEAD THOSE GOALS.

THAT IS FOR US, A BENCHMARK TO TRY TO GET THERE.

THEN I UNDERSTAND THE BOARD CAN ALL GET ON THE MECHANICALS OF WHAT WE DO, THEIR SUPPORT IS IMPORTANT BECAUSE THEY CONSISTENTLY ASKED WHAT IS HAPPENING.

THEY CONSISTENTLY LOOK AT THE DATA AND HOLD ME ACCOUNTABLE OR HOLD CHAIR ACCOUNTABLE OR THE TEAM ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE GOALS AND PERFORMANCE THAT WE SHOULD BE IMPLEMENTING IN ORDINARY TO BENEFIT OUR STUDENTS.

THIS PART, THE NEXT SLIDE IS VERY IMPORTANT PIECE.

FOCUS ON MORE COMMITTEES AND RETREAT ON THE STUDENT SUCCESS AND EQUITY GOALS.

SOMETIMES WE €'€' WE €'€' WE EDUCATORS AND THIS HAPPENS ACROSS THE BOARD, WE NEED THE VERY ISSUE AND GET ENGAGED IN CONVERSATIONS.

WE NEED TO ASK BEFORE WE SPEND TIME IN CONVERSATION WHETHER OR NOT A CONVERSATION IS RELEVANT FOR THE GOALS THAT WE'RE TRYING TO REACH.

STAYING FOCUSED IS ESSENTIAL.

WE NEED THE BUDGET THAT IS NECESSARY FOR EQUITY GOALS.

WE HAVE EXPERIENCE ABOUT THAT.

WE HAVE DONE ABOUT TWO BUDGETS NOW IN WHICH WE HAVE ALIGNED OUR PERFORMANCE WITH THE BUDGETS AND POLICIES AND STILL WORK TO BE DONE.

BUT WE'RE MOVING IN THAT DIRECTION.

OBVIOUSLY, ON HIRING AND CLOSING THE BOARD INCLUDING PRESIDENTIAL POSITION, IT

[00:25:05]

HAS TO BE THE RULE AND EVERY TIME WE MAKE, WE HIRE TEAM MEMBERS, INDIVIDUALS THAT ARE COMMITTED TO STUDENT SUCCESS AND TO SERVING THE STUDENT POPULATION AT CERRITOS COLLEGE.

WE CANNOT HIRE INDIVIDUALS THAT ARE NOT COMMITTED TO STUDENT SUCCESS.

NOT COMMITTED TO EQUITY AND THAT ARE €'€' ARE NOT OKAY SERVING THE POPULATION OF THE STUDENT THAT THEY WOULD SERVE, EFFECTING OTHER STUDENTS THE WAY THEY €'€' THE WAY THEY €'€' AND WORKING WITH THEM FROM THAT POINT ON.

SO THIS IS ONLY ONE OF A NUMBER OF OBJECTS AND IN THE NEAR FUTURE WE'LL SCHEDULE A RETREAT WHERE WE ANSWER ABOUT THE QUESTIONS.

WE HAVE TO GET IN ORDER TO HELP US ADVANCING EQUITY GOALS AND CONTINUE TO FOCUS ON CLOSING THE ACHIEVEMENT GAP OR DISPROPORTIONATE IMPACT OF THE GROUPS.

AND [INDISCERNIBLE] LIKE TO ADD ANYTHING?

>> I JUST WANT TO SAY I THINK WE'RE DOING PART OF IT AT CERRITOS COLLEGE AND PROUD TO BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE AND TO QUITE FRANKLY SAY, WE'RE DOING THAT.

BY THE WAY, THIS IS THE GREAT THINGS WE'RE DOING AND HERE IS HOW WE GET DONE.

I THINK TO US, WE'RE VERY FOCUSSED ON STUDENT SUCCESS AND GENERALLY CONCERNED ABOUT WHERE OUR STUDENTS ARE GOING AND HOW WE GET THEM TO THE NEXT STEP IN THEIR LIVES.

I THINK THIS BOARD IN GENERAL HAS DONE A PHENOMENAL JOB IN STAYING TRUE TO THAT TASK.

IT IS EXCITING TO BE PART OF THE GROUP.

WE AS A COLLEGE ARE GIVING LOTS OF GREAT EXAMPLES IN THE STATE.

>> I'M GOING TO ADD HOW IT IS NICE TO SEE THE OTHER COMMUNITY COLLEGES USE WHAT WE DO AS EXAMPLE.

THAT'S A GOOD TESTAMENT TO ALL OF OUR FACULTY AND STAFF AND €'€' AND EVERYONE AT CERRITOS COLLEGE THAT ARE COMMITTED TO THE CHANGE.

THAT'S GREAT TO SEE HERE.

PEOPLE KNOW THAT WE'RE MAKING FRIENDS.

VERY POSITIVE.

>> THANK YOU.

ANY QUESTIONS, WE WOULD BE HAPPY TO ANSWER THEM?

>> THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE PRESENTATION AND TO THE TRUSTEES FOR SHOWING LEADERSHIP AND PARTICIPATING IN THIS PROGRAM ON BEHALF OF OUR COLLEGE AND OUR BOARD.

AGAIN, THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

OKAY THAT CONCLUDES THAT ITEM.

WE'LL MOVE TO ITEM 2.03, DISCUSSION OF PARKING LOT WIFI AND THIS IS AN ITEM

[2.03 Discussion of Parking Lot WiFi (requested by Trustee Camacho-Rodriguez)]

THAT HAS BEEN REQUESTED BY TRUSTEE CAMACHO RODRIQUEZ.

TRUSTEE CAMACHO RODRIQUEZ.

>> I'LL GO AHEAD.

IT WAS JUST AN ITEM THAT €'€' THAT WE HAD AN INTEREST IN THE COMMUNITY AND BRING IT TO THE TABLE FOR DISCUSSION.

WHETHER IT IS THE SCHOOL DISTRICT OR THE CITY AND ADDRESSING THAT NEED.

I KNOW A STUDENT WAS DOING HOMEWORK IN THE PARKING LOT.

WE WILL ADDRESS THE NEEDS THAT OUR STUDENTS HAVE.

JUST MOVING FORWARD WITH OUR AGENDA AND MAKING EVERY STUDENT SUCCESSFUL.

WE HAVE HAD A COUPLE OF CONVERSATIONS ABOUT €'€' ABOUT PROVIDING STUDENTS WITH ACCESS TO INTERNET.

ONE WE IMPLEMENTED WAS PROVIDING THE STUDENTS COMPUTERS.

WE NEEDED A LARGE NUMBER OF LAPTOPS FOR THE STUDENT AND SOME OF THEM REQUIRE A HOTSPOT FOR WIFI SO WE DID THAT.

THEY'RE HEAVILY EQUIPPED WITH WIFI AND WE HAD THE LARGE MAJORITY OF THE CAMPUS BUT WE DON'T HAVE WIFI EXTENSIONS INTO €'€' INTO THE PARKING LOT.

WE CONDUCTED THE STUDY.

WE HAD THE WIFI INTERNAL TO THE CAMPUS.

WE HAD THE COMMON AREAS AND THE BUILDING.

BECAUSE THE HOTSPOT ARE LOCATED WITHIN THE BUILDINGS THE OUTSIDE REACH IS MINIMAL.

SO WHEN WE'RE WITH THE OTHER YOU GET VERY MINIMUM WIFI UNLESS YOU WALK TO THE PARKING LOT AND THE WIFI STEADILY DISAPPEARS.

[00:30:13]

SAME FOR EVERY BUILDING ON CAMPUS.

THIS GIVES US AN OPPORTUNITY TO BE CREATIVE AND ADDRESS THE STUDENT NEEDS IN A DIFFERENT WAY.

THE TIMING WAS THE STUDENT HALL WHERE THEY HAVE ACCESS TO NOT ONLY THE WIFI AND THEY HAVE TO ACCESS FROM THE PARKING LOT AND ON A PATH ON THESE DAYS AND I THINK IT WILL BE THE BEST €'€' THE BEST SOLUTION BUT WE €'€' BUT WE NEED TO GET TO THE STUDY HALL.

THEY HAVE TABLES AND PROVIDE A QUIET SPACE FOR THE STUDENTS.

WE OPENED THE STUDY HALL.

WE HAVE CAPACITY FOR 100 STUDENTS AT A TIME.

THEY HAVE PERMISSION TO ACCESS THE SITE.

THEY HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE PROCEDURES BEFORE THEY GET TO THE BUILDING.

ONCE THEY'RE THERE, THEY GET ACCESS TO THE DESK AND WIFI.

VERY NICE AIR CONDITIONING.

WE HAVE CAPACITY.

SO WE'RE MOVING INTO ADVERTISING THE STUDY HALL A LITTLE MORE.

DEPENDING HOW IT IS UTILIZED, WE LOOK AT THE LOCATION FROM CAMPUS AND THE REASON WE CONNECT TO THE [INDISCERNIBLE] IS ONE BECAUSE OF THE VENTILATION TO THE STAFF AND THEY ALLOW TWO COMPLETELY SEPARATE ROOMS WITHOUT EVEN OVERLAPPING.

GOOD ACCESS RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE PARKING LOT AND THE STUDENTS DON'T HAVE TO WORK ON THE CAMPUS TO ACCESS THE FACILITY.

IT IS WORKING RELATIVELY WELL.

WE CONTINUE TO EXPLORE THE IDEA OF THE WIFI, BUT AT THIS POINT, THE STUDY HALL IS MEETING CURRENTLY.

THE DELAY IF WE DECIDE TO CONTINUE EXPLORING THE WIFI IN THE PARKING LOT, WE LIKE TO SECURE MEETING PROCESS THAT WILL COME AND EXPANSION TO THE PARKING LOTS.

THAT WILL TAKE A WHILE.

HOWEVER, WITH THE €'€' WITH €'€' WITH THE OPENING OF THE STUDY HALL WE GET IMMEDIATE ACCESS AND CONTROLLED ENVIRONMENT SO WE CAN KEEP TRACK AND PROVIDE

[00:35:03]

OTHER STUDENTS WITH €'€' WITH THE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS NECESSARY TO STAY HEALTHY DURING THIS TIME.

DO YOU HAVE ANYTHING TO ADD?

>> I THINK YOU COVERED MOST OF IT.

I CAN SHARE OUR WIRELESS COVERAGE ON OUR CAMPUS TO GIVE PERSPECTIVE.

I'LL SHARE MY SCREEN IF THE HOST ALLOWS ME.

>> THE HOST WILL ALLOW YOU.

>> HERE IS THE €'€' IS THE COVERAGE OF THE WIFI.

WHEN WE STARTED LOOKING AT THAT, UNFORTUNATELY THE DESIGN OF OUR WIFI WAS REALLY NEVER INTENDED TO €'€' TO REACH TO OUR PARKING LOTS.

WHEN WE DID THIS STUDY, THIS SHOWS YOU KIND OF THE OUTSIDE AND I'LL KIND OF EXPLAIN WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING AT HERE.

THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENT OF SIGNAL STRENGTH FOR WIFI IS A COLORED ORANGE.

THIS AREA HERE.

AND AS THE SIGNAL STRENGTH GROWS, YOU TURN INTO A YELLOW GREEN AND GETS INTO THE BLUE.

THE GRAY IS €'€' IS €'€' IS THE SECTION INDICATING BELOW THE MINIMUM STANDARDS.

SO VIRTUALLY IN THE TWO AREAS THAT WOULD LIKELY BE WHERE WE WOULD DO €'€' DO A PARKING LOT WOULD BE LOT TEN OR LOT ONE, IT IS OUR LARGEST LOTS AND IT CAN, IT CAN ACCOMMODATE THE NUMBER OF VEHICLES THAT €'€' THAT WERE DESIRED.

SO VIRTUALLY, THESE LOTS HAVE NO WIFI STRENGTH IN THEM.

WE NEVER INTENDED IT TO REACH OUT.

WHEN WE STARTED HEARING OTHER COLLEGES WE REACHED OUT TO OUR FELLOW COLLEAGUES AT SOME OF THE OTHER LOCAL COLLEGES AND ASKED THEM WHAT THEY WERE DOING AND FORTUNATELY FOR THEM, THEY HAD WIFI IN THEIR PARKING LOT.

FOR THEM IT WAS AN EASY TRANSITION TO BE ABLE TO JUST ALLOW FOLKS TO COME ON.

SO WE STARTED EXPLORING OPPORTUNITIES YOU KNOW, WE CAN DEFINITELY EXPAND OUT TO THE €'€' TO THE LOTS IF THAT IS THE DESIRE.

THAT TAKES TIME TO PUT THE INFRASTRUCTURE INTO THE PARKING LOTS.

ANOTHER WAY WAS POTENTIALLY DOING A MOBILE HOTSPOT WHICH ARE AGAIN VERY COSTLY TO BE ABLE TO DO WHERE WE PUT A TEMPORARY MOBILE SITE OUT THIS.

IN DOING SO, YOU KNOW, WE CONTINUED TO LOOK AT ALTERNATIVE WAYS AND ONE OF THE OTHER WAYS THAT WE WERE LOOKING AT €'€' AT WAS TO BE ABLE TO PROVIDE HOTSPOTS.

I THINK RIGHT NOW WE €'€' WE €'€' WE MADE IT AN INITIAL ORDER OF HOTSPOTS TO BE ABLE TO PROVIDE OUT TO STUDENTS AND I BELIEVE THIS WEEK WE MADE ANOTHER ORDER TO €'€' TO CONTINUE TO PROVIDE ACCESS TO WIRELESS CAPABILITIES BECAUSE NOT EVERY STUDENT HAS THE ABILITY TO GET TO THE CAMPUS TO EITHER POTENTIALLY SIT IN THE PARKING LOT OR €'€' OR TO VISIT OUR STUDY HALL.

THEN AS WE CONTINUE, I'LL LET RICK CHIME IN, IF HE WANTS TO AS WELL BECAUSE THIS IS KIND OF A €'€' A JOINT EFFORT ON THIS.

WHEN WE STARTED LOOKING AT WHAT WE COULD DO ON OUR CAMPUS, THE GYM WAS THE FIRST THING WE STARTED LOOKING AT AGAIN BASED ON THE SIZE AND THE CAPACITY OF THE GYM AND THEN BEING RIGHT IN FRONT OF LOT TEN, LOT TWO, IT PROVIDED A VERY CONVENIENT WAY FOR STUDENTS TO PARK IN LOT ONE AND TWO AND COME STRAIGHT INTO THE GYM.

UP THE WAY WE SET UP THE GYM IS €'€' IS WE HAVE TWO SEPARATE ROOMS. THERE'S NO INTERACTION BETWEEN THE TWO ROOMS. IT CAN HOLD 100 STUDENTS EVERY TWO€'HOUR BLOCK.

I THINK INITIALLY WE'RE LOOKING TO CREATE AT LEAST FOUR TO FIVE DIFFERENT BLOCKS PER DAY SO THAT WOULD BE ABLE TO GIVE US A CAPACITY OF €'€' OF ABOUT 400 TO 500 STUDENTS PER DAY, FIVE DAYS A WEEK.

SO YOU KNOW, AS €'€' AS WE SEE THE DEMAND PICK UP, YOU KNOW, WE'LL CONTINUE TO €'€' TO €'€' TO EVALUATE THE GYM TO SEE IF WE CAN EXPAND TO OTHER AREAS.

[00:40:03]

OUR MAIN GOAL AND FOCUS WAS TO BE ABLE TO PROVIDE A CLEAN, SAFE AND AIR CONDITIONING AREA FOR STUDENTS TO BE ABLE TO STUDY, TO CONNECT TO WIFI AND YOU KNOW THE SETUP LOOKS FANTASTIC AND REQUIRES STUDENTS TO GO THROUGH SAFETY PROTOCOLS.

IT PROVIDES THEM A BETTER SOLUTION.

THEY DO HAVE ACCESS TO REST ROOMS WHILE IN THE STUDY HALL.

YOU KNOW WHICH ARE ALL CONTROLLED AND MONITORED BY STAFF WITHIN THE GYM.

I DON'T KNOW IF, RICK, YOU WANTED TO SAY A COUPLE OF WORDS ABOUT THE STUDY HALL.

>> JUST A COUPLE OF THINGS.

I THINK YOU COVERED THE BULK OF IT.

I JUST WANT EVERYBODY TO REALIZE THIS IS A COLLECTIVE EFFORT, THE FACILITIES ARE HELPFUL.

ALL THAT YOU SEE.

THE MANAGERS AND €'€' AND ON THE GROUND IN CHARGE ARE €'€' FOR KINESIOLOGY AND CASTRO THE A.D., ALSO GIVE A SHOUT OUT TO OUR CASA MEMBERS THAT €'€' THEY'RE STAFFING EVERY DAY ALONG WITH THEM.

BETWEEN THEM AND WHILE THEY'RE MAKING A SPACE AVAILABLE TO THE STUDENTS AND HELP THE STUDENTS CONTINUE TO PROGRESS WITH THEIR STUDIES DURING THESE TIMES.

I JUST WANTED TO HAVE A SHOUT OUT FOR EVERY GROUP INVOLVED.

THANK YOU.

>> ANY QUESTIONS?

>> THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR ANSWERS.

I JUST WANTED TO €'€' TO €'€' TO ASK TRUSTEE WALLACE, AND I KNOW VALERIE IS STILL ON THE LINE.

IS WIFI AN INTERNET COVERAGE AN ISSUE FOR STUDENTS IN YOUR OPINION.

>> I THINK IT IS.

I THINK ACCESS TO €'€' TO WIFI CONTINUES TO €'€' TO BE AN ISSUE.

IT MAY NOT BE AS BIG OF AN ISSUE BECAUSE WE HAVE [INDISCERNIBLE] THERE.

I THINK IT IS SIGNIFICANTLY.

LOOKS LIKE WE HAVE RECEIVED A REQUEST FOR 104 ADDITIONAL HOTSPOTS AND 154 LAPTOPS.

SO IT CONTINUES TO BE AND IT IS NOT AS BIG AS IT WAS WHEN WE BEGAN THE PROCESS BUT IT USED TO BE.

I HAVE BEEN COLLECTING SOME INFORMATION ABOUT COMPANIES IN THE LOCAL AREA THAT HAVE HEAVILY DISCOUNTED INTERNET CONNECTIVITY AND WE'LL MAKE THAT AVAILABLE TO THE STUDENTS AS WELL.

ACCESS TO THE INTERNET HAS BEEN A PROBLEM THERE AS A WHILE.

SOME LARGE INTERNET PROVIDERS TRY TO MAKE IT MORE AFFORDABLE FOR THOSE IN THE SCHOOL AND FOR HAVING CHALLENGES.

THAT MAY HELP CORRECT THE ISSUE IN THE LONG RUN.

SO FAR WE MADE A SMALL DENT ON IT.

BEFORE, 104 REQUESTS TODAY.

154 LAPTOPS TODAY AS WELL.

>> THANK YOU.

TRUSTEE WALLACE.

>> THANK YOU.

I THINK THAT THAT RELIABLE CONNECTIONS TO €'€' TO DIFFERENT ZOOM CALLS IS SOMETHING THAT BECOMING MORE ACCESSIBLE.

I THINK THERE'S DEFINITELY MORE WORK TO DO AS FAR AS ACTUALLY GETTING THE NECESSARY TECHNOLOGY TO THE STUDENTS AND SOME ARE €'€' THEY HAVE A LOT OF EFFORT TO DO AND IT IS DIFFICULT NOT TO HAVE A LAPTOP.

AT THE SAME TIME, I DO THINK WIFI IS LESS OF A PROBLEM AND ACCESS TO A WIFI IS LESS OF A PROBLEM THAN IT USED TO BE.

IT IS SOMETHING THAT IS €'€' YOU KNOW, AS MUCH AS I LIKE TO SAY, IT WAS €'€' IT WAS ALMOST IRRADIATED OR WENT AWAY AS A PROBLEM.

IT IS KIND OF REARING ITS HEAD AGAIN BECAUSE LIBRARIES ARE NOW CLOSED.

WE DEFINITELY NEED TO KIND OF MITIGATE HOW €'€' HOW WE CAN MITIGATE THE IMPACT THE STUDENTS ARE SUFFERING FROM OR RECEIVING.

>> THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

ANY MORE COMMENTS ON THIS?

[00:45:02]

>> JUST €'€' JUST A QUESTION.

SO THANK YOU, TRUSTEE WALLACE FOR MENTIONING THE LIBRARY.

HOW ABOUT THE STUDENTS AT THE LIBRARY?

>> CAN YOU REPEAT THAT? I COULDN'T HEAR.

YOU SAID HOW ARE WE DEALING WITH €'€' >> I KNOW A STUDENT PERHAPS COMING BACK TO CAMPUS IN A LIMITED WAY.

FOR THOSE STUDENTS THAT USED TO REQUEST BOOKS, LIKED TO BORROW BOOKS FOR A CLASS OR CHECK OUT BOOKS, CAN WE KNOW A LITTLE MORE DETAIL ON HOW THAT LOOKS NOW THAT THE SCHOOL HAS OPENED AGAIN?

>> GREAT QUESTION.

RIGHT NOW WE'RE DOING ONLY ELECTRONIC ACCESS.

HOWEVER, WE'RE CURRENTLY EXPLORING AN INITIATIVE OF TOUCHLESS SERVICE.

WE'RE LOOKING INTO SOME €'€' SOME AUTOMATED [INDISCERNIBLE] THAT WE BRING TO CAMPUS AND PLACE IN DIFFERENT LOCATIONS AND STUDENTS MAKE REQUESTS.

THEN THE STUDENTS COME WITH A TRF CODE OR €'€' OR SOMETHING AND WILL OPEN THE ELECTRONIC DISPENSER.

THEY GET THEIR BOOKS AND THEY GO ON DO THEIR WORK AND THEN RETURN THE BOOK, THEY'LL DO THE SAME PROCEDURE SO THEY DON'T COME IN CONTACT WITH ANYONE.

WE'RE CURRENTLY EXPLORING THE POSSIBILITY AND HAVE A COUPLE OF BOOKS OF THAT ON THE WORKS.

IF EVERYTHING WORKS, WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO IMPLEMENT IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF MONTHS.

SO IT WILL BE CONTACTLESS AND A LOT OF €'€' A LOT OF TECHNOLOGY USED IN THE BACKGROUND WITH THE EFFECT OF MOVING TEXTBOOKS INTO THE PARTICULAR PROCESS.

AT THIS PARTICULAR TIME, WE'RE ONLY DOING ELECTRONIC ACCESS.

WE HAVE ALMOST EVERYTHING AVAILABLE ONLINE.

>> THANK YOU.

TRUSTEE RODRIQUEZ WHAT WOULD BE YOUR RECOMMENDATION ON THE SIDE MOVING FORWARD?

>> I APPRECIATE WHAT HAS HAPPENED.

SO IF THERE'S ANY POSSIBILITIES IN THE FUTURE FOR ANY CHANGES AND OTHER LOCATIONS TO START TO €'€' TO €'€' [INDISCERNIBLE].

RIGHT NOW, JUST WHAT WAS PUT OUT FOR OUR STUDENTS.

I'M VERY IMPRESSED WITH WHAT HAPPENED IN THE AMOUNT OF TIME [INDISCERNIBLE] TO BE ABLE TO MEET THE NEED OF 100 STUDENTS, THAT'S FANTASTIC.

I APPRECIATE THAT AND I'M SURE OUR STUDENTS APPRECIATE THAT.

>> CAMACHO, KEEP YOU INFORMED AND THE AMOUNT INCREASES.

WE ALREADY HAVE A COUPLE OF OPTIONS IN MIND.

WHEN THE TIME COME WE'LL BE READY.

>> I KNOW WE GET QUESTIONS ABOUT THE LAPTOPS, THE HOTSPOTS.

I THINK ALL OF THIS INFORMATION IS ON THE CERRITOS CARE PAGE AND YOU CAN REQUEST €'€' ANY OF THESE DEVICES ON THAT PAGE.

>> CORRECT.

WE HAVE THE INFORMATION AND IT IS JUST €'€' JUST SENT IN A FORM AND THE INFORMATION GOES TO DR. FRED AND KELLY AND THEY WILL DO THE [INDISCERNIBLE] TO THE LOCATION.

>> DO YOU €'€' I KNOW IN ORDER TO GET THE INTERNET SERVICE, YOU SAID YOU WOULD PROVIDE HOTSPOTS.

DO THEY HAVE TO SHOW PROOF THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE INTERNET SERVICE AT HOME? OR THAT SIMPLY I DON'T HAVE IT.

MY INTERNET SERVICE IS NOT THAT STRONG, CAN I GET A HOTSPOT?

>> THEY WILL PROVIDE THE SPECIFICS.

THEY DO ASK QUESTIONS.

THEY DO SOME CHECK€'UP ON €'€' ON THE ACTUAL NEED.

>> THANK YOU.

AT THIS TIME, WE ASK THEM WHAT THEIR IDEA IS ON HOW THE RECOURSE WILL HELP THEM WITH THEIR EDUCATIONAL GOALS AND WE VALIDATE IF THEY'RE [INDISCERNIBLE] ONE CLASS AT A TIME AND OFFER THEM THE HOTSPOTS.

AT SOME POINT AS DEMAND EXCEEDS CAPACITY, WE WILL LOOK AT ANOTHER WAY OF OBVIOUSLY FILTERING THE APPLICATIONS, AT THIS POINT SO FAR WE HAVE BEEN GIVEN HOTSPOTS FOR THESE AND LAPTOPS AS WELL.

>> THAT'S GOOD TO HEAR, GOOD WE'RE NOT PUTTING UP ANY ADDITIONAL BARRIERS TO GET

[00:50:05]

THE HOTSPOT AND THE LAPTOP THEY NEED TO COMPLETE THEIR ASSIGNMENTS.

THAT'S GOOD TO HEAR.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THAT UPDATE.

[3. Consent Items]

OKAY.

I THINK THAT WILL CONCLUDE THAT DISCUSSION ITEM.

WE WILL GO ON TO THE CONSENT CALENDAR WHICH IS ITEMS 3.01 UNTIL 3.37.

ANYONE WANT TO PULL AN ITEM FROM THE CONSENT CALENDAR.

SEEING THERE'S NO REQUESTS WE WILL GO AHEAD AND TAKE A MOTION TO APPROVE THE CONSENT CALENDAR.

>> SO MOVED.

>> WE HAVE A MOTION BY TRUSTEE LEWIS.

A SECOND?

>> SECOND.

>> WE HAVE A SECOND BY DR. LIU, ANY DISCUSSION? WE'LL TAKE A ROLL CALL VOTE ON THE CONSENT CALENDAR, PLEASE.

>> ALL RIGHT.

THE CONSENT CALENDAR HAS BEEN APPROVED.

[4. Information Items]

WE'LL MOVE ON TO ITEM 4.01 WHICH IS AN INFORMATION ITEM, ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF RECEIPT OF THE INITIAL PROPOSE OF THE CSCA TO THE COLLEGE DISTRICT FOR REOPENING NEGOTIATIONS FOR JULY 1, 2019, THROUGH JUNE 30TH, 2020.

THE ITEM HAS BEEN RECEIVED.

WE WILL NOW MOVE ON TO ITEM 5.01, CONSIDERATION OF ADOPTION OF THE 20€'2021

[5.01 Consideration of Adoption of 2020-2021 Board of Trustees and President/Superintendent Goals]

BOARD OF TRUSTEES AND PRESIDENT SUPERINTENDENT GOALS.

DR. FIERRO.

>> SPEAKING OF GOALS AND OUR PREVIOUS CONVERSATION AND €'€' AND BASED ON THE CONVERSATIONS WE HAD PRIOR TO THIS MEETING I PRESENTED YOU THE FINAL DRAFT OF THE GOALS AND WE HAVE DISCUSSED.

SO AS YOU CAN SEE, THE GOALS ALIGN NOT ONLY WITH THE EDUCATIONAL MASTER PLAN BUT ALSO WITH THE AREA IN THE CALL TO ACTION FROM THE CHANCELLOR'S OFFICE ADDRESSING THE STRUCTURAL [INDISCERNIBLE] SEASON.

SOMETHING THAT I LIKE TO HIGHLIGHT IN THE €'€' IN THE ADDRESSING THE STRUCTURAL SEASON IS €'€' IS €'€' IS [INDISCERNIBLE] THE PROPORTIONAL IMPACTED GROUPS AND THAT'S HOW WE HOPE TO MEASURE WHETHER OR NOT WE'RE BEING SUCCESSFUL ON ADDRESSING SYSTEMATIC AND STRUCTURAL AND RE[INDISCERNIBLE].

WE HAVE TO CONTINUE TO WORK ON POLICIES.

YES, WE HAVE TO DO PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT BUT IN MY OPINION, THE REAL PROOF THAT WE HAVE BOON SUCCESSFUL OR NOT IS IF ALL OF THE STUDENTS AND EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION ON THE €'€' ON THE SAME FOOTING AND €'€' AND PERFORM AT THE SAME [INDISCERNIBLE].

THIS IS NOT AN IMPOSSIBLE GOAL.

THERE ARE A NUMBER OF EXAMPLES AROUND THE NATION AND THEY HAVE MANAGED THE COMMUNITY COLLEGES AND MANAGED TO CLOSE THIS ENTIRELY THE DISPROPORTIONATE IMPACT GAP THAT HAS EXISTED TRADITIONALLY ON €'€' ON €'€' ON MINORITY OF STUDENTS.

THIS IS SOMETHING THAT IS GOING TO BE THE OVERARCHING THEME OF ALL OF THE GOALS DURING THE NEXT YEAR.

WE WILL CONTINUE TO INSURE PROGRAM ALIGNMENT AND THE STRENGTHENING PARTNERSHIP BY €'€' BY €'€' BY CONTINUING TO EXPAND OUR CONNECTIONS WITH THE LOCAL

[00:55:03]

K12 AND LOCAL BUSINESS INDUSTRY AND OBVIOUSLY THE TRANSFER INSTITUTION.

THIS YEAR MORE THAN ANY OTHER, WE HAVE TALKED ABOUT PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT.

STAFF DEVELOPMENT, LITERATURE DEVELOPMENT.

WE SUPPORT THAT AS WE GO FORWARD.

WE SETTLE INTO WHAT THE NEW NORMAL LOOK LIKE, I THINK IT IS IMPORTANT FOR US TO DEVELOP NEW PRACTICES THAT WILL HELP US COME TO THE OTHER €'€' TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THESE IN THE STRONGER POSITION THAT WE WERE BEFORE.

UPGRADE THE EDUCATIONAL INFRASTRUCTURE.

THE OTHER ONE THAT I THINK WE NEED TO €'€' WE NEED TO €'€' WE NEED TO HIGHLIGHT THIS PARTICULAR TIME.

WE €'€' WE HAD BEEN HAVING CONVERSATIONS FOR THE LAST YEAR OF ENHANCING OUR STRUCTURE.

IF YOU RECALL WE DID A PRESENTATION TO THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES A FEW MONTHS AGO IN WHICH WE PRESENTED SOME [INDISCERNIBLE] THAT WILL LEAD TO THE IMPROVEMENT AND THE VARIETY OF INFRASTRUCTURE.

WE ARE GOING TO EXPERIENCE SOME BUDGET CUTS AND HARDSHIPS GOING FORWARD, BUT I THINK WE NEED TO €'€' TO FIND A WAY TO MAKE THE INVESTMENT TO CONTINUE TO IMPROVE THE I.T.

INFRASTRUCTURE.

I DON'T THINK WE'LL GO TO A PLACE WHERE WE WILL NOT RELY IN TECHNOLOGY AS HEAVILY AS WE RELY ON IT TODAY.

YOU WILL SEE SOME QUICK MOVEMENT ON THIS GOING FORWARD.

PARTICULARLY TO €'€' TO IMPROVE THE STUDENT DATABASE AND THE BACKGROUND INFRASTRUCTURE THAT WE MAY NOT GET TO SEE.

BUT THOSE DO THE DATA MANIPULATION IN THE BACKGROUND AND IT WILL HAVE ACCESS AND THE INFORMATION THAT WE ARE REQUESTING.

THE LAST GOAL IS ENHANCING EFFECTIVENESS.

AND I THINK €'€' I THINK AGAIN THIS IS IMPORTANT BECAUSE €'€' BECAUSE WE NEED TO MAINTAIN AND EXPAND THE CAPACITY OF CERRITOS COLLEGE DURING THE TIME OF CRISIS I THINK AS WE WORK ON THE INITIATIVES GOING FORWARD.

WE NEED TO INSURE THAT €'€' THAT IT IS NOT JUST INITIATIVES BUT A STRUCTURAL CHANGES THAT ARE GOING TO MAINTAIN CERRITOS COLLEGE FOR THE LONG€'TERM.

WE DON'T KNOW WHAT THIS IS GOING TO LOOK LIKE WHEN COVID IS DONE AND OVER WITH AND THE INSTITUTION IS.

WE DON'T KNOW WHAT IT WILL LOOK LIKE AND HOW LONG IT WILL LAST.

IT IS IMPORTANT TO €'€' TO BEGIN PREPARING ONLY TO MAINTAIN BUT TO €'€' TO EXPAND OR €'€' OUR INSTITUTIONAL CAPACITY AS WE MOVE FORWARD.

THERE ARE ALL OF THE GOALS AND THEY ARE CONNECTED ONE BY ONE TO €'€' TO THE EDUCATIONAL MASTER PLAN AND AGAIN ALIGN THEM WITH THE SIX KEY AREAS OF THE STRUCTURAL SEASON THAT ARE CALLED ON THE CHANCELLOR'S CALL OF ACTION.

>> ALL RIGHT.

OKAY.

ANY OTHER QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS OR DISCUSSION? AND ALSO I THINK TRUSTEE AVALOS JUST TEXTED ME.

SHE'S TRYING TO GET BACK IN TO THE MEETING.

>> I JUST [INDISCERNIBLE].

>> PERFECT.

ANY OTHER COMMENTS OR QUESTIONS OR THOUGHTS ABOUT OUR GOALS THIS YEAR?

>> I HAD A €'€' THIS IS €'€' THIS IS A QUICK COMMENT OR QUICK QUESTION.

SO I €'€' SO I €'€' I IN THE TRUSTEE, GET THE STUDENT TRUSTEE TRAINING.

[01:00:02]

THE TRIPLE CT ORGANIZED AND I WAS ASKING KIND OF LIKE, ATTEMPTING TO FIND OUT WHAT I CAN DO AS FAR AS BEING €'€' BEING STUDENT TRUSTEE WITHIN MY €'€' MY €'€' MY €'€' WHAT ARE MY CAPABILITIES AND MY SCOPE OF INFLUENCE AND €'€' AND SOME €'€' I GUESS THE MODERATOR WAS MENTIONING THE STUDENT TRUSTEE RIGHTS PACKAGE OF THAT €'€' THE TRUSTEE RIGHTS.

I WONDERED IF I CAN FIND OUT MORE ABOUT WHAT I CAN DO SO I CAN SET MY GOALS AROUND THAT SO I CAN €'€' I WOULD [INDISCERNIBLE] WITH THOSE GOALS.

THANK YOU.

>> COULD YOU FOLLOW UP AND WORK WITH TRUSTEE WALLACE ON THAT? THAT WOULD BE GREAT.

THANK YOU.

ANY OTHER COMMENTS OR QUESTIONS?

>> I HAD A COUPLE OF COMMENTS UNLESS ANYBODY ELSE WANTS TO SPEAK UP.

I I REALLY WANT TO JUST COMMENT ON GOAL C WHICH ARE PROMOTING LEADERSHIP AND STAFF DEVELOPMENT WHICH AGAIN IS €'€' IS EMPHASIZING THE SPECIAL DEVELOPMENT FOR ALL OF OUR EMPLOYEES AND I THINK TODAY MANY OF US WERE ON THE €'€' ON THE €'€' THE CHANCELLOR'S CALL ON DEVELOPING ANTI€'RACIST CLIMATE AT COLLEGES.

I THINK ONE OF THE KEY THINGS THAT I WOULD EMPHASIZE IS TRAINING AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT.

FOR ALL OF OUR EMPLOYEES.

OUR STAFF AND MANAGERS.

I HOPE THE NEXT BOARD MEETING DR. FIERRO YOU COULD BRING AN OUTLINE WHAT IT WOULD BE ON THESE ISSUES ON INEQUITY AND DISPROPORTIONATE IMPACT AND THAT BRING THAT FOR NEXT MONTH.

>> YES, WE CAN DO THAT.

>> THAT WOULD BE REALLY GOOD.

I THINK THE OTHER THING TOO IS CONSTANTLY TALKING ABOUT GOAL D AND EVERYTHING WE DO HERE AT CERRITOS COLLEGE AND HAVING SERVICE EXCELLENCE AND EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE TO EVERYONE WE SERVE AT THE COLLEGE.

I WAS GLAD TO SEE THAT GOAL INCLUDED AND CONTINUING TO PRIORITIZED.

OKAY.

THOSE €'€' ANY OTHER COMMENTS OR QUESTIONS, DON'T SEE ANY.

WE WILL GO AHEAD AND TAKE MOTION FOR APPROVAL OF THIS ITEM.

>> SO MOVED.

>> THANK YOU TRUSTEE LEWIS.

>> SECOND.

>> SECOND BY AVALOS.

WE WILL TAKE A ROLL CALL VOTE.

>> THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

WE WILL MOVE ON IT ITEM 6.01 WHICH ARE REPORTS AND COMMENTS FROM DISTRICT

[6. Reports and Comments from District Officials]

OFFICIALS.

I WILL GO AHEAD AND START WITH TRUSTEE AVALOS.

>> I HAVE NOTHING TO REPORT EXCEPT WELCOME BACK EVERYONE AND I KNOW THESE ARE CHALLENGING TIMES AND I APPRECIATE ALL YOU DO FOR THE STUDENTS AND THE COMMUNITY.

>> THANK YOU.

TRUSTEE SALAZAR.

>> NO REPORT, THANKS.

>> ALL RIGHT.

TRUSTEE LIU.

>> NO REPORT.

THANK YOU.

>> TRUSTEE CAMACHO RODRIQUEZ.

>> JUST A QUICK SHOUT OUT TO ALL OF OUR STAFF AND FACULTY.

I HAD A FEW OF MY NEIGHBORS THAT €'€' THAT HAVE BEEN REALLY HAPPY WITH €'€' WITH THE SERVICES AND STUDENTS AND PARENTS OF STUDENTS AND JUST HOW €'€' HOW WE HAD SET THE BAR VERY HIGH AND €'€' AND THAT OTHER CAMPUSES AND OTHER LOCATIONS IN THE COMMUNITY AND THAT I THINK OUR WHOLE STAFF DESERVES TO CONTINUE FOR THEIR HARD WORK.

>> I WANT TO THANK EVERYONE FROM THE STAFF TO THE STUDENTS AND EVERYONE THAT MADE ALL OF THESE ADJUSTMENTS IN LIGHT OF THE DIFFICULT TIMES TO CREATE THE CONTINUING OPPORTUNITY THAT THE COLLEGE HAD TO OFFER.

IT IS REALLY, AS YOU GUYS WERE SAYING, WE WERE €'€' WE €'€' WE HAVE ALWAYS BEEN RECOGNIZED AS A PIONEER IN OUR STATE FOR SO MANY PROGRAMS. I THINK TAKING ON THIS CHALLENGE IS NO DIFFERENT THAN ANY OF THE OTHER CHALLENGES THAT WE'VE HAD.

SO THANK YOU TO EVERYONE IN LEADERSHIP TO THE STUDENTS, THE STAFF, ADMINISTRATION FOR €'€' FOR CONTINUING TO €'€' TO KEEP OPERATIONS GOING AND MAKING IT THRIVE AND NOT JUST WORK.

>> THANK YOU TRUSTEE LEWIS.

TRUSTEE WALLACE?

>> JUST DEFINITELY WANTED TO EXTEND MY GRATITUDE FOR THIS PLATFORM AND LOOKING FORWARD TO HELPING THE STUDENTS MOVE FORWARD IN A BIG WAY THIS SEMESTER.

I THINK ALL OF THESE CHALLENGING TIMES ARE OPPORTUNITIES TO COME MORE EXCELLENT EDUCATION AND PERM AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT.

I LOOK FORWARD TO IT.

>> THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

ALL RIGHT.

[01:05:01]

WE'LL MOVE ON TO DR. PEREZ?

>> GOOD EVENING, I JUST WANT TO €'€' TO LET YOU KNOW THAT WE CONTINUE TO €'€' TO IDENTIFY OPPORTUNITIES AND CREATE CALENDARS AND I THINK TRUSTEE AND [INDISCERNIBLE] ABOUT THE WELCOME CALENDAR WE HAVE.

SO [INDISCERNIBLE] HAS DONE A GREAT JOB OF HOSTING A SERIES OF EVENTS FOR STUDENTS TO GET TO KNOW THEIR COLLEAGUES AND EACH OTHER AND THAT'S EXCITING IN A VIRTUAL ENVIRONMENT.

THOSE ARE GOING WELL.

THANK YOU TRUSTEE CAMACHO RODRIQUEZ FOR THE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF THE STAFF AND BEING RESPONSIVE TO CERTAINLY OUR STUDENTS AND FAMILIES.

JUST TO CONTEXTUALIZE IT A LITTLE BIT.

WE GET UPDATES THAT YOU ALL MAY RECEIVE.

LAST MONTH OUR TEAM ANSWERED ABOUT 8,000 E€'MAILS IN ONE MONTH.

OUR ADMISSIONS AND RECORDS TEAM ABOUT 10,000.

YOU SEE THAT VOLUME IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO GO THROUGH EACH OF THOSE AND THEY'RE DILIGENT BY WORKING EXCEPTIONALLY HARD TO GET TO EACH AND EVERY STUDENT.

THANK YOU FOR THAT ACKNOWLEDGEMENT.

WE'LL CONTINUE TO REALLY IDENTIFY WAYS TO HAVE A GOOD EXPERIENCE FOR OUR STUDENTS.

>> OKAY, VICE PRESIDENT LOPEZ.

>> I JUST WANTED TO SAY THANK YOU FOR EVERYONE THAT WAS INVOLVED IN GETTING THE START OF THE SEMESTER A SUCCESS, TRULY WAS A TEAM EFFORT AND €'€' AND JUST APPRECIATE EVERYONE FOR YOUR HARD WORK.

>> GOOD EVENING, I ECHO WHAT FELIPE SAID.

DEFINITELY WE WERE ABLE TO €'€' TO €'€' TO BE WHERE WE ARE THANKS TO THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF MANY MANAGERS AND THE FACULTY AND STAFF AND EVERYBODY THAT €'€' THAT WORKS REALLY HARD ON MAKING IT HAPPEN.

THANK YOU TO ALL.

I WELCOME EVERYBODY TO THE FALL SEMESTER.

THANK YOU.

>> VICE PRESIDENT MIRANDA.

>> THANK YOU.

I LIKE TO ECHO WHAT MY COLLEAGUES SAID.

I ALSO LIKE TO ADD A THANK YOU FOR EVERY CONSTITUENT GROUP WHO HAS BEEN WORKING NONSTOP.

SINCE WE LEFT DURING THE SUMMER AND EVEN AT THE START OF THE TERM BECAUSE OF EVERYBODY'S HARD WORK WE HAVE ACADEMIC PROGRAMS THAT ARE HERE FOR OUR STUDENTS.

YOU CAN SEE WE HAVE FOUND €'€' OUR FACULTY HAVE FOUND SOLUTIONS TO TAKE WHAT SEEMED IMPOSSIBLE ONLINE.

THAT'S THEIR WORK.

IT IS ALSO THROUGH YOUR LEADERSHIP TRUSTEES THAT HAVE ALLOWED US TO SUPPLY THEM WITH TOOLS THAT THEY NEEDED TO BE ABLE TO OFFER THESE ONLINE.

IT IS THE CLASSIFIED AND WE CONTINUE TO PREPARE LAB MATERIALS FOR OUR FACULTY AS THEY COME AND DO VIDEO PRESENTATIONS AND DEMONSTRATIONS AND THE FACILITIES THERE ALWAYS TO MAKE SURE THEY'RE SAFE.

IT HAS BEEN A HERCULEAN EFFORT BY EVERYONE INVOLVED AND I WANT TO SAY THANK YOU.

>> THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

DR. FIERRO.

COULD YOU ALSO ELABORATE A BIT ON WHAT IS BEING OFFERED RIGHT NOW AT THE CAMPUS, SPECIFICALLY WHAT CLASSES ARE AVAILABLE AND HOW THINGS ARE GOING AND THE PROTOCOLS AND PROCEDURES FOR THAT AS WELL?

>> WE OFFER THE LAB PORTION OF €'€' OF CITY CLASSES AND HEALTHCARE CLASSES.

NOT THE LECTURE, JUST THE LAB COMPONENT OF THESE CLASSES.

ONE EXAMPLE BUT ONLY THE PRACTICAL PORTION OF THE CLASS.

THE STUDENTS AND FACULTY AND ALL OF US WHEN WE COME TO CAMPUS, WE HAVE TO STOP BY ONE OF THE TEMPERATURE CHECKING STATIONS AND PRESENT OR €'€' OR CLEARANCE TO ENTER.

THE WAY WE GET A CLEARANCE IS BY ANSWERING A SERIES OF QUESTIONS ONLINE AND THESE QUESTIONS NEED TO BE ANSWERED WITHIN FOUR HOURS TO ARRIVAL TO CAMPUS.

THEY COULD TAKE IT TO THE PARKING LOT.

YOU HAVE TO HAVE A GREEN CHECK.

AND YOU PRETEND, YOU PUT THAT IN YOUR PHONE AND IF IT IS GREEN, THEY'LL TAKE YOUR TEMPERATURE, ASK YOU A FEW QUESTIONS AND OFF YOU GO.

[01:10:01]

IF YOU ARE RIGHT MEANING YOU'RE SHOWN TO BE SHOWN TO BE HEALTHY OR HAVE ANY OTHER SYMPTOMS, WE ARE ASKING YOU TO STAY HOME.

IF YOU ARE ALREADY THERE, USUALLY WHAT €'€' WHAT OUR TEMPERATURE CHECK TEAM MEMBERS ARE DOING IS OBVIOUSLY REFERRING THEM TO TO THE HEALTH CENTER AND ASK THEM TO GO BACK HOME AND €'€' AND NOT TO BE AROUND.

THE NEXT PART IS WEARING MASKS.

WE'RE ASKING EVERYONE ON CAMPUS TO WEAR MASKS AT ALL TIMES.

THE ONLY EXCEPTION IS IF YOURSELF, AND OBVIOUSLY YOU KNOW, YOU WEAR YOUR MASK AND THAT'S FINE BUT IF YOU ARE OUT AND ABOUT, WE'RE ASKING EVERYONE TO WEAR A MASK.

PARTICULARLY IF YOU'RE GATHERING WITH OTHERS AND MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCING.

SO TO OUR CAMPUS, WE HAVE A NUMBER OF SPEAKERS ON THE FLOOR.

THEY ARE ALL SIX FEET APART AND WE ALSO HAVE €'€' HAVE SANITATION STATIONS THAT WE ASK USE A SANITATION STATION AND KEEP GOING.

AND EVERYONE TO DO THE SAME.

WE HAVE PLENTY OF SANITATIONS ACROSS THE CAMPUS AND BANNERS TO WEAR THEIR MASK AND MAINTAIN DISTANCE.

WE'RE ASKING INDIVIDUALS THAT WE PREFER THEM TO WEAR A MASK RATHER THAN A FACE COVER.

AND THE REASON FOR THAT IS WHEN THEY GO TO THE LAB COURSES AND OBVIOUSLY CLASSES THAT REQUIRE MOVEMENT AND SOME AREAS OF [INDISCERNIBLE] FOR MOVING AROUND AND YOU TALK ABOUT NURSING.

HAVING MASKS, THE GOAL AND ATTACH THE €'€' THE €'€' AROUND THE EAR, IF YOU €'€' RATHER THAN A FACE FORWARD BECAUSE THEY SLIDE CONTINUOUSLY AS YOU WORK IN YOUR DIFFERENT ASSIGNMENTS.

THE LAST COUPLE OF DAYS ALL OF US HAVE BEEN ON CAMPUS WALKING AROUND AND LOOKING AT THE SETUP.

AND THE CLASSROOMS THAT ARE BEING USED ARE PROTECTED.

AND HAVE DIVIDERS BETWEEN THE TABLES.

THEY'RE ONLY WEARING THEIR MASKS AND PROTECTED BY A DIVIDER AND SANITIZE THROUGH THE DAY.

WE DO EVERYTHING WE CAN TO COVER OUR BASES AND MAINTAIN OR STUDENTS SAFE, PHAC CULL SAFE AND ADMINISTRATORS AND EVERYONE THAT IS COMING TO CAMPUS.

WE KNOW THIS WOULDN'T GET AWAY WITH 100 PERCENT RISK.

BUT WE DO ALL WE CAN FOR A HIGH LEVEL OF SAFETY.

I WORKED ON CAMPUS AND DIDN'T SEE ONE PERSON WITHOUT A MASK.

THEY HAD THE BRACELET SAYING THEY HAD BEEN ALREADY GOING TO THE CHECKPOINT WHEN WE TOLD THEM.

THEY WENT TO THE CHECKPOINT AND THEY DID THE PROCEDURE.

SO I THINK EVERYONE IS COOPERATING AND THIS IS KEY FOR THE SUCCESS OF THESE PROGRAMS.

>> ANY QUESTIONS ON THAT? UPDATE? HOW MANY OF OUR STUDENTS? CAMACHO RODRIQUEZ, A QUESTION? ABOUT HOW MANY OF THE STUDENTS ARE ACTUALLY PARTICIPATING IN THESE IN€'PERSON CLASSES.

>> RICK, COULD YOU HELP ME WITH THAT?

>> WE HAVE NEARLY A THOUSAND STUDENTS BACK IN THE PROGRAM.

THERE MAY BE SOME TO ADD OR RETURN.

BUT I THINK THE LAST WAS €'€' WAS 980 OR 990 OR SO.

>> WHAT ARE THE PROTOCOLS IF A STUDENT TEST POSITIVE? WHAT DO WE DO?

>> WE FOLLOW THE PUBLIC HEALTH DEPARTMENT PROTOCOLS, THE FIRST IS IF ANYONE HAS SYMPTOMS, WE ENCOURAGE THEM TO GO AND GET THE TEST.

IF THEY ARE POSITIVE WHAT WE HAVE DONE AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO IS IF THE PERSON TEST POSITIVE AND ASK WHEN THEY FIRST EXPERIENCED THE SYMPTOMS AND WHO THEY

[01:15:05]

INTERACTED WITH.

WE ASKED THOSE THAT WERE IN THE PROXIMITY OF THE INDIVIDUAL TO SELF€'QUARANTINE IF A WEEK AND IF THEY HAVE SYMPTOMS GO ON AND BE TESTED.

WE'RE NOT REQUIRED TO REPORT ONE CASE.

ONCE THEY DO THE TESTING, THE COUNTY COUNTS THEM BUT IN THE LOCATION WHERE THEY LIVE, THE COUNTY WHERE THEY LIVE AND THAT'S HOW THEY'RE COUNTED, THEY'RE IN THE COUNTED AT COLLEGE.

WE SEND E€'MAILS TO THE CAMPUS COMMUNITY AND WE HAVE SOMEONE THERE THAT TESTED POSITIVE AND THE MEASURES WE'RE TAKING.

FORTUNATELY ONCE WE WORK WITH THE GROUPS.

WE DO THE CONTACT TRACING.

AND [INDISCERNIBLE] OF THAT POSITIVE CASE.

WE HAVE ADMINISTRATORS AND EVERYONE TEST POSITIVE AND THEY'RE CONNECTED.

AT THAT POINT WE REPORT TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND THEY WILL DO THE TRACING FOR US AND LIKELY THEY WILL BE ASKED TO CLOSE AND THEY WILL BE CLOSED FOR THE ENTIRE SCHOOL.

THE WAY I READ IT, FOR INSTANCE IF THERE'S THREE CASES IN THE STUDY HALL WITH ALL €'€' WE ASKED TO CLOSE THE STUDY HALL FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS.

IT COULD BE A CAMPUS WITH THREE OR MORE CONNECTED AND WHAT IT WILL CREATE REPORTING AND POTENTIALLY SHUT DOWN THEIR ABILITY OR THE AREA OF THE FACILITY.

>> ALL RIGHT.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

ANYBODY ELSE HAVE QUESTIONS FOR DR. FIERRO ON THIS PORTION OF THE REPORT? OKAY.

I DON'T SEE ANYMORE.

YOU WANT TO CONTINUE ANY MORE ITEMS YOU WANT TO UP DATE US ABOUT.

>> I WANT TO THANK EVERYONE THAT HELPED PUTTING THIS TOGETHER AND WORKING WITH THE FACULTY AND WITH THE STAFF AND THE ADMINISTRATORS AND WE PUT THE PLAN TOGETHER AND THE TASK AND THE TASK THAT EVERYONE WAS READY FOR.

IT WAS VERY COLLABORATIVE WORKING WITH EACH ONE OF THE AREAS AND WORKING WITH THE LEADERSHIP TEAM AND THEY ASK ALL OF THE VICE PRESIDENTS AND THE SENATE, AND PRESIDENT OF CACA AND STUDENTS.

AND WE WERE ABLE TO WORK THROUGH THE DETAILS.

WHAT IS CHALLENGING, BUT I THINK THAT WE SAW A [INDISCERNIBLE].

I LIKE TO THANK EVERYONE.

I LIKE TO THANK THE VICE PRESIDENT FOR THE WORK THAT THEY DID IN THE FINAL PUSH TO GET THIS TO THE END.

IN THE VERY VERY RARE OCCASION THAT €'€' THAT THEY'RE DEMANDING, THEY REALLY EXPECT THAT TO DO THE WORK.

I'M VERY PROUD OF THE WORK THEY PRODUCE AND HOW THEY WERE ABLE TO COLLABORATE WITH EACH ONE OF THE CONSTITUENTS.

AND I KNOW WE HAVE SOME WORK STILL TO €'€' TO DO AND LEARN BECAUSE THIS IS PART OF OUR LEARNING PROCESS TO GET BETTER.

I FEEL VERY COMFORTABLE WITH WHAT WE DONE IN ORDER TO KEEP EVERYBODY AT THE CERRITOS COLLEGE [INDISCERNIBLE].

>> YOU'RE MUTED.

>> UNMUTE AND THEN I JUST WANT TO THANK EVERYBODY AGAIN FOR €'€' FOR €'€' FOR €'€' CONGRATULATIONS AND ALL OF THE GREAT WORK AND PREPARATION AS WE €'€' AS WE STARTED THE NEW SEMESTER ON MONDAY.

MANY PEOPLE ARE GOING ABOVE AND BEYOND THEIR NORMAL WORKLOAD TO MAKE SURE WE PROVIDE EXCELLENT EDUCATION FOR THE STUDENTS.

AND I THINK THAT'S SOMETHING THAT YOU KNOW, CHANCELLOR MENTIONED TODAY, AT A TIME WHEN EVERYONE IS TALKING ABOUT FAILING THE STUDENTS, THERE'S MANY COLLEGES ACROSS

[01:20:02]

CALIFORNIA STEPPING UP AND THEY WON'T LET OUR STUDENTS FAIL.

THEY'RE DOING MORE.

I WANT TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE FACULTY AND THE STAFF TO €'€' TO DO SO MUCH TO SUPPORT OUR STUDENTS AND EARLIER TODAY WE APPROVED THE STIPEND FOR OUR COORDINATORS AND I WANT TO ACKNOWLEDGE THEM FOR ALL THEY'RE DOING TO SUPPORT THE FACULTY AND UPGRADE THEIR SKILLS AS WE GO INTO THIS SEMESTER OF DISTANCE LEARNING.

I ALSO HAVE TO SHARE A PERSONAL STORY.

MY SON IS TAKING HIS FIRST CERRITOS COLLEGE CLASS.

OF ALL THREE OF THE CLASSES HIS CLASS IS BY FAR THE BEST CLASS.

SO VERY ORGANIZED.

CANVAS IS AMAZING.

I ALSO HEARD ABOUT CANVAS BECAUSE THEY TALK ABOUT IT.

I NEVER KNEW WHAT IT WAS.

JUST VERY EASY TO FOLLOW ALONG IN HIS SYLLABUS AND HIS TEXTBOOKS ONLINE.

SHOUT OUT TO OPEN EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES BECAUSE IT IS REALLY JUST AMAZING.

LIKE €'€' KIND OF LIKE TRYING TO FOLLOW ALONG WITH HIM AND I TRY TO FOLLOW ALONG IN THE SYLLABUS WHEN HE'S NOT WORKING AND WHAT BETANCOURT HAS DONE, AMAZING.

I WANT TO RECOGNIZE ALL OF THE FACULTY MEMBERS.

THERE'S SO MANY OTHERS ACROSS THE CAMPUS WHO ARE DOING THIS FOR THE STUDENTS AND WHO ARE GOING TO HELP THEM SUCCEED AND GET TO THE NEXT LEVEL.

I ALSO WANTED TO REMIND EVERYBODY THAT WE'RE CONTINUING WITH ANY TRUSTEES THAT WANT TO CONTINUE TO EXPAND THEIR KNOWLEDGE, WE HAVE €'€' WE HAVE WEBINARS EVERY THURSDAY AND WE USUALLY HAVE A GOOD AMOUNT, ALL ACROSS THE STATE FOR DISCUSSIONS.

WE FOLLOW UP ON THE WORK AND ADVANCE RACIAL EQUITY.

TOMORROW THAT CALL WILL GO ON AT 12 P.M.

FOR A WEBINAR AND EVERY WEEK, ANY TRUSTEES HAVE A CHANCE TO PARTICIPATE, IT IS REALLY GOOD INFORMATION AND I THINK A REALLY GOOD WAY TO LEARN WHAT OTHER COLLEGES

[7. Closed Session]

AND TRUSTEES ARE DOING ACROSS THE STATE.

THANK YOU.

SO WITH THAT, THAT CONCLUDES OUR OPEN SESSION.

WEER ARE AT A RECORD, 8:28.

DO WE HAVE A READOUT TODAY AFTER CLOSED SESSION?

>> WE HAVE TWO READOUTS.

>> SO THERE WILL BE A READOUT, I HAVE 8:28 AND WE WILL RECESS UNTIL 8:40 AND

[8. Closing Items]

WE WILL CIRCLE BACK AT 8:40 AND SAY GOOD€'BYE.

SO WITH THAT, THAT CONCLUDES OUR OPEN SESSION.

WE'RE AT A RECORD.

>> PERFECT.

WE'RE RETURNING BACK FROM CLOSED SESSION AT 9:39 AND WE HAVE TWO ITEMS WE WILL READ OUT FOR CLOSED SESSION ACCORDING TO THE BROWN ACT, ITEM NUMBER 7.01, IT IS REPORTED THAT IN CLOSED SESSION THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES DENIED THE CLAIM FROM JEFFERY D.

HORN, AND MOTION BY PEREZ AND SECOND BY AVALOS.

FINAL RESOLUTION, THE MOTION CARRIES.

ITEM NUMBER 7.02, PUBLIC EMPLOYMENT.

DEAN OF ENROLLMENT SERVICES.

IT IS REPORTED IN THE CLOSED SESSION, THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES APPROVED THE APPOINTMENT AND MANAGEMENT SALARY SCHEDULE, AUGUST 22ND, 2020.

MOVED AND SECONDED.

FINAL RESOLUTION, THE MOTION CARRIES.

SO THAT CONCLUDES OUR MEETING AT 9:40 P.M.

AND OUR NEXT MEETING WILL BE ON WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 2ND AT 7 P.M., THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
