NOW WE WILL GO TO ITEM 02 WHICH IS OUR PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE.

>> OKAY.

SO, SO WE'LL GO ON TO 1303.

ANY MEMBER OF THE PUBLIC WANT TO REORDER AN ITEM FROM THE AGENDA?

>> NO, MADAM CHAIR, I WANT TO ADJOURN THE MEETING IN MEMORY OF MILLIE TAYLOR WHO WAS AN INCORPORATOR OF HAS MARRADHA.

THEY UNFORTUNATELY PASSED AWAY LAST WEEK.

WE HELD A SERVICE FOR HER ON SUNDAY.

IF WE COULD ADJOURN IN HER MEMORY MLYLLE AND LAST NAME TAYLOR.

>> THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

>> CAN YOU HEAR ME, MAKE SURE THE AUDIO IS WORKING.

>> SAME HERE, MIC CHECK.

>> ALL RIGHT.

AVALOS AND BERKEY ARE HERE.

ANY COMMENTS?

>> SEVERAL COMMENTS.

ONE MOMENT.

I RECEIVED MANY COMMENTS THROUGH OUR PUBLIC COMMENT FORUM.

I RECEIVED 25 OF THEM.

WHAT I'M GOING TO DO IS READY THROUGH THEM AND I'LL SET MY TIMER FOR 30 MINUTES, SINCE THEY'RE ALL ON THE SAME TOPIC AND I'LL RUN THROUGH EACH ONE HERE.

>> FIRST COMMENT IS FROM LINDSEY LA FEVER.

THE EQUIPMENT ON FACULTY IS REAL, PLEASE BARGAIN IN GOOD FAITH.

NEXT COMMENT, ADJUNCT PART TIME INSTRUCTOR.

EXTRA WORK AND EXTRA EXPENSES WORKED MORE THAN EIGHT OURS EVERY DAY AND WITH THE COMPUTER AND PRINTER AND OFFICE STUFF.

BRUCE GREENBERG, PARALEGAL DIRECTOR AND INSTRUCTOR.

IN ORDER TO TRANSITION TO ONLINE OR WHAT THEY LIKE TO CALL T DURING THE SPRING I SPENT 80 HOURS PER WEEK CONDUCTING CLASS AND GETTING READY FOR THE FALL HAS BEEN NO DIFFERENT.

WHAT WAS A HANDOUT THAT COULD BE WALKED THROUGH, MUST BE POSTED ONLINE WITH DETAILED INSTRUCTION TO BE ASSURED STUDENTS ARE LEARNING THEIR SKILLS.

INSTEAD OF STUDENTS GO TO THE LIBRARY, I HAVE TO GO TO THE LIBRARY AND SCAN.

LEARNING TO USE ZOOM WAS TIME CONSUMING AND THEN ASSISTING OTHER INSTRUCTORS TOOK ADDITIONAL TIME.

REGARDING OUT OF POCKET EXPENSES, I'M OUT 1,000 DOLLARS FOR CAMERA, PRINTER INK AND PAPER.

THE NEXT COMMENT IS FROM CAROLINE, AN INSTRUCTOR.

[00:05:06]

MY WORKING CONDITIONS HAVE CHANGED DUE TO COVID 19 IN MANY WAYS.

FIRST I HAD TO BUY A LAPTOP FOR THE WIFI IN ORDER TO TEACHES MY CLASSES ONLINE.

THEN I HAD TO WORK IN THE SPRING AND KEPT RELIABLE MATERIALS.

I HAD TO LEARN HOW TO CREATE VIDEOS AND LEARN TO CREATE ASSIGNMENTS AND EVERYTHING THAT CAMERAS OFFER.

I BELIEVE WE SHOULD GET PAID FOR THE TIME I PUT IN IN TO REMOTE TEACHING.

OTHERS ARE CERTIFIED TO TEACH ONLINE.

I LIKE THE COLLEGE TO OFFER TO TEACH ONLINE IN 2020.

I HAD SO MANY STUDENTS THAT HAD TO DROP CLASSES BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T HAVE WIFI.

>> NEXT FROM PART TIME FACULTY.

IN ORDER TO INCLUDE THE REMOTE TEACHING, I HAD TO SHIFT TO ONE ONLINE CLASS AND MY KIDS CHASES WERE ONLINE.

THERE WAS STRUGGLES WITH BANDWIDTH.

I HAD TO UPGRADE.

AFTER THAT WE NEEDED TO UPGRADE THE ROUTERS AND MAKE SURE IT WAS ACCESSIBLE.

I HAVE TRAININGS ALL SUMMER TO TAKE CARE OF ALL ASPECTS.

VERY TIME CONSUMING.

NEXT COMMENT FROM ADJUNCT FACULTY.

I HAD TO WORK TWICE THE HOURS TO GO ONLINE.

I DID SO WITH MY OWN RESOURCES.

NEXT COMMENT FROM PROFESSOR OF COMMUNICATION STUDIES, THIS IS SUBMITTED BY PCSF.

I WOULD LIKE TO FACILITATE MY CLASSES ONLINE.

THANK YOU.

NEXT COMMENT MARIANNE USNA.

SINCE WE MOVED TO REMOTE INSTRUCTION I HAD TO WORK LONGER HOURS.

I APPRECIATE COMPENSATION FOR THE WORK THAT VIRTUALLY ALL FACULTY HAVE TO PUT INTO TEACHING.

I LIKE TO SEE OUR JOBS PROTECTED.

NEXT IS FROM FACULTY.

I DEFINITELY HAVE BEEN WORKING 12 PLUS HOURS AND DAYS AND WEEKENDS.

I FEEL I'M CONSTANTLY WORKING BECAUSE EVERYTHING IS ONLINE AND THE STUDENTS FEEL THERE'S NO CUT OFF TIME.

I'M ANSWERING E MAILS CONSTANT MY.

IT WOULD BE BETTER TO HAVE MORE PAPER AND INK SUPPLIES AND A BETTER CHAIR.

I'M NOT ABLE TO PURCHASE THOSE.

>> NEXT COMMENT IS [INDISCERNIBLE].

I HAD TO REDESIGN MY SYLLABUS AND GRADING POLICY IN ORDER TO PIVOT TO DISTANCE LEARNING.

THE PREP WORK I DID FOR MY COURSES HAS TO BE REDONE IN ORDER TO SHIFT ONLINE.

THE NEXT COMMENT IS MARY ELLEN GRADY.

WE PROVIDE TO OUR STUDENTS TO MAKE THIS AS SMOOTH AS POSSIBLE AND NOW WE'RE TO SUBMIT A REQUEST.

THIS IS NEARLY ALL THE COSTS FOR MY DEPARTMENT.

THIS TAKES WEEKS TO PREPARE.

I'VE BEEN SPENDING WEEKS FOR STUDENT AND FACULTY.

I'M THEIR SUPPORT SYSTEM IN ADDITION TO THEIR OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES.

ANA MORRISONN.

I HAD TO USE MY OWN RESOURCES TO TEACH AT MY EXPENSE.

I BOUGHT A WEB CAM AND STORAGE FOR MY PC USING DEL CREDIT BECAUSE I DID NOT HAVE THE CASH.

I SPENT ADDITIONAL HOURS PREPARING MY MATERIALS FOR DE AND IMPLEMENTING THEM.

I NEED TO BE COMPENSATED FOR THE ADDITIONAL WORK.

>> AND INFORMATION OF HOW TEACHING REMOTELY HAS EXPANDED MY WORKLOAD.

THE COSTUME AND MAKEUP CLASS.

IN ORDER TO TEACH MY CLASSES ONLINE I HAD TO USE AN IPAD AND VIDEOTAPE MY MAKEUP.

I PAID MY SON TO VIDEOTAPE.

IT TOOK MANY HOURS TO EDIT, SING MY FAMILY COULD NOT BE QUIET, I RECORDED VOICEOVERS EACH NIGHT.

THEY TOOK 8 TO 12 HOURS EACH.

[00:10:03]

IT TOOK ME TIME TO CREATE YOU TUBE STUDIO.

I HAVE ALSO BEEN TECHNICALLY CHALLENGED.

ADDITIONAL TIME WAS SPENT ON DISTRICTING MAKEUP SUPPLIES.

FOR SOME PRODUCTS I BUY ONE LARGE CONTAINER IF THE CLASS TO SCOOP OUT WHAT THEY NEED.

SINCE THEY WERE AT HOME, MY TO BUY AIRTIGHT CONTAINERS AND SCOOP THEM IN SEPARATE CONTAINERS.

TO DISTRICT THEM I STOOD IN THE PARKING LOT WAITING FOR THE STUDENTS TO DRIVE BY.

MAKE UP THE STUDENTS FOR THE FIVE HOURS A WEEK FOR THE DURATION OF THE SEMESTER.

FOR MY SUMMER SCHOOL LECTURE CLASS, I HAD TO CREATE A CLASSROOM STARTING FROM SCRATCH TO CREATE TIME.

AND MULTIMEDIA HAD CLIPS IT SHOW THAT I NORMALLY SEE IN CLASS.

I GOT THE FILES TO UPLOAD.

MULTIMEDIA HAD TO RESEND THEM.

I HAD TO EDIT THEM AND UPLOAD THEM AND THEN GET THEM INTO CANVAS.

AGAIN, I HAD TECHNICAL PROBLEMS. THIS SUMMER I'VE BEEN WORKING ON MY CHEMIST MODEL JUST TO STAY AHEAD OF MY STUDENTS.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.

>> NEXT COMMENT IS FROM LEONARD GLICK, PROFESSOR AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY.

THE MAJORITY OF OUR STUDENTS ARE NOT PREPARED FOR THE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT FORCED UPON THEM.

SPENDING INORDINATE TIME TO KEEP THEM ENGAGED AND FOCUSED.

THE HOURS ARE FAR GREATER I EVER HAD TO DO IN FACE TO FACE.

THE ONLY WAY I COULD KEEP MY LARGE ENGAGEMENT SUCCESSFUL IS TO SPEND THE TIME.

THAT MEANS I'M CONNECTED TO MY PC FOR HOURS A DAY.

I'M AVAILABLE IN SUMMER SESSION AS WELL, AS WAS ALLOTTED IN THE SPRING OF 2020 AND WILL BE IN THE FALL 2021 SEMESTER.

MY COMPENSATION, DOESN'T COVER OFFERING ENCOURAGEMENT AND LETTING EVERYONE KNOW THEY'RE ON THE OTHER END.

I SUBMITTED THE WORK BACK TO THE STUDENTS BECAUSE THEY HAVE TROUBLE UNDERSTANDING ONLINE PROCEDURES AND REQUIREMENTS.

WHAT I COULD DO IN A FACE TO FACE CLASS TAKES FAR LONGER.

MY PC IS WITH AN OPERATING SYSTEM, THE TIME I SPEND TEACHING MY CURRENT CLASS IS WAY OUT OF PROPORTION TO MY COMPENSATION.

I'M STILL DOING THIS AND WILL CONTINUE TO TEACH THE CLASS.

WE NEED TO SEE APPROPRIATE COMPENSATION FOR OUR EFFORTS DURING THESE DEMANDING TIMES.

NEXT COMMENT FROM CHON BO.

NEED TO PREPARE FOR THE COMING FALL SEMESTER AND RELIEF OF STRESS FROM WORKING REMOTELY.

WE NEED MASKS, GLOVES SANITIZERS AS WE PLAN TO RETURN.

A SOCIAL DISTANCING POLICY REMAINS IN EFFECT.

WE NEED SMALLER LAB SECTIONS.

LYDIA ALVAREZ IS THE NEXT COMMENT.

WE ARE DOING WHAT FEW IMAGINED WAS POSSIBLE.

FACULTY MADE IT VISIBLE THE PROBLEM SOLVING THEY USE EVERY DAY.

OUR DEDICATION TO OUR STUDENTS AND OUR PROFESSION DID NOT AUTOMATICALLY APPEAR WHILE WE OPENED OUR HOPES TO CAMPUS AND SERVING STUDENTS.

AT THIS MOMENT FOR CALLS OF EQUITY AND JUSTICE, LET'S NOT [INDISCERNIBLE] THAT HAS DAMAGED THE HISTORIC RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE DISTRICT AND THE FACULTY.

WHETHER THAN AN ADVERSARIAL APPROACH, THINK OF BOTH SIDES BEING CONSIDERED AND BUILDING TRUST.

THIS MOMENT OFFERS OPPORTUNITY FOR REBUILD TRUST WITH THE FACULTY.

>> THE NEXT COMMENT IS FROM MASIVA AND DEPARTMENT CHAIR AND PROGRAM DIRECTOR.

[00:15:04]

>> I NEED TO USE MY CELL PHONE TO PLACE STUDENTS.

>> NEXT COMMENT D ROBINSON.

I FEEL IT IS IMPORTANT FOR ME TO LET YOU THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES UNDERSTAND WHAT WE'VE BEEN FACED WITH.

WITH NO FULL TIME FACULTY IN THE AREA MYSELF AND OTHER PART TIMERS HAVE BEEN ON CONFERENCE CALLS TO CREATE A COMPREHENSIVE PLAN IN THE AREA TO SHIFT FROM INPERSON TO DISTANT LEARNINGS.

THIS IS CHALLENGING AT BEST.

IT REQUIRES TEAMWORK AND LEADERSHIP AND ADJUNCT FACULTY.

WE NEED TO REORGANIZE OUR COURSES AND AND CHANGE EACH PROJECT TO BE DONE AT HOME AS OPPOSED TO IN OUR LAB.

I SPENT HOURS REWORKING MY COURSE AND BUYING MY OWN MATERIALS TO CREATE AN ENTIRE NEW COURSE FORMAT TO SERVE OUR STUDENTS.

CERAMICS CAN BE LEARNED FROM ANYWHERE.

I ASK THE DISTRICT TO CONSIDER COMPENSATION FOR THE HOURS THAT MY COLLEAGUES AND I INVESTED TO MAKE AN ACCESSIBLE BUSINESS LEARNING EXPERIENCE.

THE NEXT COMMENT IS FROM HOLLINGEC.

MY TOP CONCERNS ARE NUMBER ONE, I HAD TO USE MY OWN RESOURCES AND TECHNOLOGY TO WORK AT MY OWN EXPENSE.

WHAT WAS PROVIDED DIDN'T COVER THE TECHNOLOGY AND FURNITURE TO DO MY JOB.

I HAD TO PROVIDE SHELVING, ET CETERA.

IT IS OVERWHELMING AT TIMES.

I SUPPORT THE STUDENT'S FOCUSED APPROACH.

THE DEMANDS OF THE JOB AND TAKE TIME AWAY FROM FAMILY CARE.

I MUST BE AT MY BEST AND MEET THE NEEDS OF ME AND MY FAMILY WHILE SERVING AS A COUNSELOR SPECIALIST.

>> THREE I NEED ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION FOR THE WORK I HAVE HAD TO PUT IN TO REMOTE WORK.

I WORK LATER TO ACCOMMODATE STUDENTS AND THE DEMANDS OF THE JOB.

WE NEED TO LOOK AT ROLE OF THE FACULTY AND STAFF AND TO PROVIDE SUPPORT FOR FACULTY ON MEETING THE DEMAND OF THE COLLEGE AND SUPPORTING FAMILY AND LIFE WORK BALANCE.

NEXT COMMENT FROM TORE LACY.

IN ORDER TO PREPARE TO TEACH CLASSES ONLINE THIS PAST SPRING SEMESTER AND THIS CURRENT SEMESTER, I PUT IN TIME FOR PREPARATION.

MY CHAIR RELATED DUTIES WERE CLOSE TO DOUBLED.

DESPITE THE BEST EFFORTS TO TRAIN US TO TEACH ONLINE ARE ADMIRABLE BUT THERE'S STILL MORE TO LEARN AND THE CURRICULUM IS BEING DELIVERED TO OUR STUDENTS.

THIS MEANS GUIDED LEARNING.

NOT HAVING ACCESS TO OUR DRIVES AT HOME IS SIGNIFICANT INCONVENIENCE.

I'M GRATEFUL MY LAPTOP AT HOME BUT IT IS OLD.

WHAT HAPPENS IF IT CRASHES? SOME IDEAS FOR RETURNING TO ON CAMPUS.

AND THE CLASS SIZE WOULD BE REDUCED TO 33 PERCENT.

30 STUDENT CLASSES NEED TO BE REDUCED TO 10.

IF THE CLASS MEETING TIME AND DAYS AND ROOMS WOULD NEED TO BE CHANGED.

SOCIAL DISTANCING NEEDS TO BE MAINTAINED.

WOULD WE INSTALL TAPE OR ROPE SO THERE'S GUIDE EN.

HAND SANITATION SHOULD BE IN ALL CLASSROOMS. LAB EQUIPMENT COULD BE REQUIRED.

THIS COULD BE LABOR INTENSIVE, GIVEN THE SMALL SIZE.

FOR FIELD TRIPS, STUDENTS WOULD NEED TO MEET UP AT THE DESTINATION OF OUTDOOR LEARNING.

H, IT SEEMS AS THOUGH MASKS WILL BE NEEDED.

I PROPOSE MASKS OR SOME SUPPORTIVE MESSAGE ON THEM, SUCH AS BLACK LIVES MATTER, ET CETERA.

ESTABLISH A PROTOCOL THAT WOULD ENCOURAGE STUDENTS THAT THINK THEY MAY FIT TO BE STAYING AT HOME.

NEXT COMMENT IS FROM KATHERINE LLAMA.

CLASS SIZE FOR REMOTE LEARNING.

[00:20:03]

MY BIGGEST CONCERN, NOT ALL STUDENTS WANT TO ATTEND ONLINE COURSES ESPECIALLY SPECIAL NEEDS STUDENTS.

WE WILL HELP SERVE THOSE STUDENTS AND THOSE THAT LACK LITERACY SKILLS.

>> NEXT ONE IS FROM EMMA.

ADJUNCT FACULTY.

I SPENT HOURS TO LOOK UP THE INFORMATION FOR THE TECHNICAL QUESTION.

I LEARNED I NEEDED FASTER OPERATING COMPUTER.

THE NEXT COMMENT IS FROM MOHUM, ADJUNCT MATH PROFESSOR.

I BELIEVE EXAMS COULD BE GIVEN ON A FACE TO FACE BASIS.

STUDENTS WOULD BE ASSIGNED A FOLDING CHAIR AND I WISH OUR FALL AND SPRING SUMMER SEMESTER.

>> OUR FACULTY AND STAFF ARE USING THEIR PERSONAL PHONE WITH DATA EXPENSES AND THEIR COMPUTERS AND CARTRIDGES TO CONSULT STUDENTS.

PLEASE CONSIDER REIMBURSEMENT FOR OFFICE SUPPLIES.

THE LAST COMMENT IS FROM MONICA LOPEZ.

ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR.

FROM THE BEGINNING, I OBSERVED THE SWIFT OF THE ADMINISTRATION AND THE COLLEGE BOARD TO TRANSITION THE CAMPUS TO SAFE LEARNING AND TURN TO REMOTE LEARNING DUE TO COVID.

MOST RECENTLY, I WAS ABLE TO COORDINATE WITH MY DEPARTMENT FOR MY OFFICE CHAIR THAT I PICKED UP THIS MORNING.

THIS IS AWESOME.

IT IS THE LITTLE THING THAT HELP MY PRODUCTIVITY AND OVERALL HEALTH.

I'M GLAD THE OPTION WAS AVAILABLE.

I'M APPRECIATIVE THAT MIRANDA APPROVED MY REQUESTS.

I GOT NEW HEADPHONES SINCE THE ORIGINALS STOPPED WORKING.

I DID NOT HAVE A HOME OFFICE SET UP PRIOR TO COVID.

THERE WASN'T A REAL REASON TO DO THAT, BECAUSE MY CONTRACTUAL RESPONSIBILITIES CAN BE DONE FROM CAMPUS.

I'VE MADE ADJUSTMENTS AND PURCHASING NEW DESK AND OFFICE SUPPLIES.

MOST ISSUES ARE NOT THE MATERIAL ITEMS I REQUIRE TO PERFORM THE WORK THAT IS EXPECTED OF ME TO QUARANTINE FROM HOME.

MY MY CONCERN CURRENTLY IS WHAT PEOPLE WILL BE MADE AVAILABLE TO ME IF WE CONTINUE TO WORK FROM HOME.

WILL THERE BE A TAFFE MEMBER I COORDINATE.

AS A COORDINATOR, I WORK DIRECTLY WITH ONE STAFF.

WHEN I'M ON CAMPUS, WE HAVE CONTACT WITH ANY ISSUES ARISE.

WITH THE STAFF AT HOME, IT IS DIFFICULT TO COMMUNICATE EVEN IF WE USE CONFERENCING OR CELL PHONES.

PART OF MY RESPONSIBILITY IS COORDINATOR IS TO BE TO GUIDE THE STAFF MEMBER AND THE PROJECT AND TRAINING.

SINCE THE BEGINNING OF QUARANTINE I MADE MORE TIME TO MAKE SURE STAFF IS ADJUSTED.

I'M NOT CONFIDENT THEY HAVE.

HOW CAN HUMAN RESOURCES OR ANY OTHER SERVICES ON CAMPUS ASSIST ME FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR AS WELL AS NEXT YEAR.

THE STAFF I WORK WITH WEEKLY ASK ME WHEN I WILL RETURN TO CAMPUS OR IF THEY CAN GO TO CAMPUS.

I FEAR IF THEY NEED ATTENTION FROM HR IT WILL CREATE STRESS.

I DON'T HAVE THE PROPER TRAINING FOR THOSE ON CAMPUS.

IT IS CAUSING ME DISTRESS.

I MAY NOT BE THE ONLY ONE EXPERIENCING THIS TYPE OF SCENARIO.

I HOPE THERE'S SUPPORT FOR THE ISSUE.

CAN YOU GUIDE ME AS I PREPARE TO BE AT HOME.

THAT'S THE LAST COMMENT.

>> THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

WE WILL MOVE TO 1.05.

WE WILL START WITH MS. KATHY HOSE.

>> GOOD EVENING, NO COMMENTS TONIGHT BUT WISH EVERYBODY A HAPPY 4TH AND STAY SAFE.

[00:25:03]

THANK YOU.

>> VERONICA MIRANDA.

>> HI, THE UNITED STATES IS THE HOTSPOT FOR THE COVID 19 DISEASE.

BASED ON DATA TRACKING, WE HAD APPROXIMATELY 2.6 MILLION CONFIRMED CASES AND 130,000 DEATHS.

THIS IS THE HIGHEST IN THE WORLD.

AND OUR DEATH RATE IS ONLY SECOND TO BRAZIL.

THE COMBINATION OF THE VIRUS AND POOR LEADERSHIP AT THE FEDERAL LEVEL HAS RESULTED IN DRASTIC QUINSES FOR OUR COUNTRY.

WE HAVE EXPERIENCED THE PANDEMIC INDUCED RECESSION IN WHICH THE ECONOMY HAS SUFFERED AND THE UNEMPLOYMENT RATE HAS INCREASED.

UNFORTUNATELY ONE IN TWO OF THE INDIVIDUALS THAT LOST THEIR JOBS DURING THE RECESSION WORKED IN EDUCATION.

HOWEVER, WE RECEIVED GOOD NEWS TWO DAYS AGO, CALIFORNIA'S GOVERNOR GAVIN NEWSOME SIGNED A BUDGET THAT CLOSES A DEFICIT FROM THE MAY REVISED FROM THE 20 21 FISCAL YEAR.

THE GAP WAS CLOSED THROUGH A COMBINATION OF STATE RESERVES MAKING REDUCTIONS AND DEFERRALS AND CANCELING PROGRAMS EXPANSIONS AND INCLUDES REVENUES.

THE NEW BUDGET BETTER HELPS FUNDING.

AND DESPITE SUPPORT, FEDERAL FUNDS, THE NEW BUDGET IS GOOD NEWS.

>> IT SEEM THE COLLEGE WOULD BE IN A BETTER PLACE TO DEAL WITH THE FINANCES.

IT SEEMS THE RIGHT OF THOSE EDUCATIONAL WORKERS THAT LOST THEIR JOBS, I ASK IF THERE WAS ANYONE FROM OUR CAMPUS THAT LOST HOURS AND BUDGET CUTS, INCLUDING ANYONE FROM ADULT ED AND FROM THE LIBRARY AND COUNSELING AND INSTRUCTIONAL AID.

>> BECAUSE OF THE NUMBERS OF THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC WHICH REPRESENTS REAL SUFFERING AND TRAGEDY, IT IS OUR DUTY TO TAKE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS TO STAY HEALTHY AND PREVENT THE SPREAD OF THE VIRUS.

I HAVE PARTICIPATED AND REVIEWED THE FEDERATION TEACHER'S GUIDELINES.

I REVIEWED GUIDELINES FOR THE AMERICAN FEDERATION OF TEACHERS AND THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION.

HERE ARE THE RECOMMENDATIONS, MANY OF WHICH OVERLAP AND YOU MAY BE AWARE OF AND HEARD FROM THE PUBLIC COMMENTS.

WE SHOULD NOT BEGIN TO MAKE A RETURN TO CAMPUS UNLESS ALL MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY, FACULTY, STAFF, COMMUNITY MEMBERS ARE INVOLVED IN ALL OF THE PLANNING.

HOSPITALIZATIONS AND DEATHS HAVE STABILIZED OR DECREASED FOR AT LEAST 14 CONSECUTIVE DAYS.

THE CAPACITY AT HOSPITALS AND THEY PROVIDE REGULAR ACCESS TO CLEANING AND SANITIZING MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT AND THERMOMETER STANDARDS.

AND PROPER USE OF CLEANING AND SANITIZING MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT AND THE STANDARDS AS WELL AS FOR CONFIDENTIALITY OF HEALTH CONDITION REPORTING AND RECORDING.

SYMPTOM SCREENING IS IMPORTANT ON CAMPUS.

THE COMMUNITY MEMBERS ARE INSTRUCTED TO SELF SCREEN BEFORE COMING TO CAMPUS AND ADVISED TO STAY HOME IF THEY HAVE ANY SYMPTOMS AND REMAIN HOME UNTIL THEY CAN END HOME ISOLATION.

ALL MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY ARE GIVEN GUIDELINES THEY FOLLOW TO PREVENT THE SPREAD OF THE CORONAVIRUS.

THESE GUIDELINES SHOULD BE POSTED ON CAMPUS WHERE THEY COULD BE EASILY SEEN.

EXTRA TIME IS GIVEN TO FACULTY TO WASH HANDS AND CLEAN AND SANITIZE AND OBJECTS AND DISINFECT DELIVERIES.

SOCIAL DISTANCING AND FACE COVERING IS ENFORCED ALONG COLLEGE COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND INSIDE CLASSROOMS AND REST ROOMS AND INDOOR PLACES.

THIS RELATES TO SOCIAL DISTANCING OR CLEAR PHYSICAL BARRIERS ARE PUT IN PLACE WHERE NEEDED AND PRACTICAL.

FACULTY ARE GIVEN ACCESS TO THE TECHNOLOGY AND THE STRUCTURAL MATERIALS RESOURCING AND TRAINING FOR DISTANT EDUCATION THAT WOULD PREVENT THE SUCCESS GAP FROM WIDENING.

[00:30:01]

THEY WOULD PROTECT THEIR STUDENTS FROM EXPOSURE AND PROTECTION.

THERE'S A PLAN TO ISOLATE A STUDENT TO DEVELOP SYMPTOMS LATER IN THE DAY.

AND COLLEGE EMPLOYEES THAT DEVELOP SYMPTOMS WHILE AT WORK AND CAN'T COME IN DUE TO SYMPTOMS AT HOME.

THERE'S ALSO FACILITATING TRACKING.

IT IS NOT A RECOMMENDATION THAT THE MEMBERS OF THE COLLEGE ARE GIVEN NUMBERS.

IF THEY'RE LIMITED, CRITERIA SHOULD BE DETERMINED IN WHICH THEY CAN SAFELY VISIT CAMPUS.

MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL SUPPORTS ARE PROVIDED TO COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND THESE SERVICES ARE COMMUNICATED.

THE COMMUNITY RECEIVED COMMUNICATION ABOUT TIMELINES AND GUIDELINES AND STANDARDS AND THIS IS GIVEN WITH ENOUGH ADVANCE NOTICE THAT WOULD ALLOW FACULTY STAFF AND STUDENTS TO MAKE NECESSARY CHANGES.

THE PLAN IS ESTABLISHED TO QUICKLY CLOSE THE CAMPUS AGAIN SHOULD COUNTIES AND OFFICIALS REQUIRE A STRICT STAY AT HOME ORDER.

THIS IS WHAT A MEMBER OF THE COMMITTEE TESTS POSITIVE FOR COVID 19 AND HAS BEEN IN PHYSICAL CONTACT ABOUT THE CAMPUS.

THE RECOVERY, AND FOR ME, I ASK YOU TO TAKE TO HEART THE WORD OF THE FACULTY THAT YOU HEARD AND THE EXTRA TIME THEY PUT IN AND THE FUNDS THEY USED FOR REEMOTE EDUCATION.

FREE OR REIMBURSED TRAINING FOR THOSE THAT REQUEST IT.

FLEXIBILITY FOR THE FACULTY ARE INVOLVED AND THOSE THAT RELY ON THEIR CARE.

THE HELP AND TO MEET FUNDING NEED, I ASK THE TRUSTEES AND ANYONE HERE SUPPORT THE HEROES ACT AND REACHING OUT TO THE REPRESENTATIVE IN THE LEGISLATURE TO LET THEM KNOW OF THE IMPORTANCE OF THE STIMULUS PACKAGE.

I ASK YOU SUPPORT THE BALLOT MEASURE WHICH WOULD BE ON THE NOVEMBER BALLOT.

IF PASSED ALL PROPERTIES WOULD BE TAXED ON THAT VALUE.

IT IS ESTIMATED THAT 12 MILLION COULD BE GENERATED FOR PUBLIC EDUCATION AND SERVICES AND SUPPORT [INDISCERNIBLE] AND SIGN A PETITION SIGNED BY THE CALIFORNIA FEDERATION OF TEACHERS, DURING THE PANDEMIC, BILLIONAIRES IN THE STATE INCREASED THEIR WEALTH DURING THE PANDEMIC.

APPROXIMATELY 140 BILLION DOLLARS.

SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITIES SHOULDN'T FACE CUTS WHILE THE WEALTHIEST PROFIT FROM THEIR PAIN.

PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION AND I'M PUTTING THAT IN THE CHECK BOX.

>> THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

I NOW MOVE TO DR. APRIL FROM ACADEMIC.

>> CAN YOU HEAR ME? THE FIRST OF FACULTY EXPRESSING BURNOUT FRUSTRATION AND EXHAUSTION AND CREATIVE PROBLEM SOLVING.

WE'RE NOT WORKING FROM HOME.

WE'RE LIVING AT WORK.

WE HAD TIME TO MOVE EVERY CLASS ONLINE.

FACULTY HAS PUT IN COUNTLESS HOURS TO PROVIDE OUR STUDENTS WITH EDUCATION AS COMPARABLE TO THAT THAT THEY HAVE IN A FACE TO FACE CLASSROOM.

THE FACULTY ARE SEARCHING FOR MORE INFORMATION IT MAKE THEIR CLASSROOMS BETTER.

WE APPOINTED COORDINATORS THAT IS PROVIDING TRAINING TO THE FACULTY.

WE HAVE LESS THAN EQUIVALENT OF ONE TIME FACULTY.

OUR SPECIALIST IS RETIRED.

WE KNEAD MORE SUPPORT AS WE CONTINUE TO TEACH REMOTELY.

BASED ON THE RISE IN INFECTIONS, I DON'T KNOW IF WE'RE GOING BACK SOON.

THEY HAVE ON AVERAGE, TWO FULL TIME FACULTY COORDINATORS.

THEY HAVE INSTRUCTION WITH THE DESIGNER AND THE D.E.

DESIGNERS WITH THE ROBUST BUDGET.

WE SUPPORT OR FACULTY ADEQUATELY WITH THE RESOURCES WE HAVE.

[00:35:05]

I ASK THE BOARD AND DISTRICT TO SUPPORT A MORE ROBUST DEPARTMENT.

ESPECIALLY SINCE THEY HAVE SAID, THAT IF WE CAN WORK FROM HOME, WE SHOULD.

I DON'T THINK EDUCATION WILL WORK THE SAME.

PLEASE CONSIDER HIRING AN INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGNER.

SOMETHING FOLKS HAVE BEEN CALLING FOR FOR YEARS.

PLEASE CONSIDER CARES MONEY FOR RESOURCES AND SUPPORT TEACHING ONLINE.

WE ALSO NEED THINGS LIKE LANDING PADS FOR STUDENTS AND FACULTY ON THE WEB PAGE FOR QUICK ACCESS TO RESOURCES AND UPDATES AND INFORMATION.

WE NEED TO REALIZE THAT THE COLLEGE WILL PROBABLY LOOK LIKE AN ONLINE CAMPUS FOR SOME TIME.

WE NEED TO CREATE A COMPREHENSIVE VISION.

TO DO THAT WE NEED MORE SUPPORT.

PLEASE TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION THE VOICES OF THE FACULTY TODAY.

WE'RE ASKING FOR NOT ONLY RESOURCES BUT ALSO FOR SUPPORT AND THE CAMPUS TO BUILD MORE SUPPORT PROGRAM.

THANK YOU.

>> WE'LL NOW CONCLUDE WITH THE TRUSTEE JOHNNY WALLACE.

ANY UPDATE FROM ASCC.

>> THANK YOU AFTER THE DISCUSSION, WE'VE DISCUSSED SOME IDEAS TO IT FURTHER ENGAGE THE STUDENT POPULATION THAT WAS ONCE ON CAMPUS AND BRING THEM IN CLOSER WHILE WE DISTANCE OURSELVES OFF CAMPUS THROUGH THE USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA AND INCREASING OUR OUR PARTICIPATION IN THAT ARENA WITH STUDENTS THAT ARE NOW MAINLY AT HOME ON SOCIAL MEDIA TO BRING THEM INFORMATION AS WELL AS OPPORTUNITIES TO BUILD LEADERSHIP SKILLS AND THEIR CIVIC ENGAGEMENT AS WELL.

I EXPRESSED INTEREST TO THE STUDENT PROPERTY THAT I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO SERVING THE STUDENT POPULATION WITH THE WITH THE CCTV POSITION THAT IS NOW OPEN.

I APPRECIATE THEIR SUPPORT WITH THIS DECISION AS WELL AS YOURS.

THANK YOU.

>> RIGHT, THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

SO JUST TO ADD TO WHAT TRUSTEE WALLACE MENTIONED.

HE IS INTERESTED IN RUNNING FOR THE STUDENT SEAT ON THE TRIPLE T BOARD.

THIS IS ONE THE BOARD THAT HAS TRUSTEES FROM ALL ACROSS THE STATE.

THERE'S ONE STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE AND HE'S INTERESTED IN RUNNING FOR THAT SEAT.

HE WOULD NEED TO GET THE CONCURRENCE OF THE BOARD TO SUBMIT THE APPLICATION AND THEN RUN FOR THAT SEAT.

SO WE'RE WONDERING IF I EVERYBODY ON THE BOARD WAS OKAY WITH TRUSTEE WALLACE EXPECTING INTEREST IN THIS.

>> I'M SUPPORTIVE.

>> OKAY.

>> EVERYONE IS OKAY?

>> I'M SUPPORTIVE.

I'M NOT SURE WHAT THE RULES OF ORDER ARE ON THIS MATTER.

I LOOKED INTO IT.

MAYBE WE COULD GO BACK TO ANDREA AND TALK ABOUT THIS.

>> YOU DON'T NEED TO VOTE ENTIRE BOARD.

IT IS JUST MOSTLY INFORMING THE BOARD AND TRYING TO GET YOUR SUPPORT FOR IT.

JUST SIMPLY CONSENT AND MOVING FORWARD WOULD BE ENOUGH.

BIRKEY DOES THAT ADDRESS YOUR QUESTION?

>> SURE.

I WON'T PUT IN ANY CONDITIONS LIKE YOU BETTER WIN OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT.

>> BEST OF LUCK AND THANK YOU FOR STEPPING UP TO SERVE OUR STUDENTS ACROSS THE COLLEGE SYSTEM.

WITH THAT, THAT CONCLUDES THE FIRST SECTION.

[2.01 Institutional Presentation: Recognition of Retirees]

WE WILL MOVE ON TO 2.01 WHICH ARE THE RECOGNITION OF THE RETIREES.

>> OKAY.

SO TONIGHT WE HAVE TWO T TWO TWO [INDISCERNIBLE] THAT WE'RE GOING TO RECOGNIZE AND

[00:40:05]

OUR FIRST CATEGORY IS [INDISCERNIBLE] AND LET'S SEE IF SHE IS ALREADY IN THE WAITING ROOM.

ALL RIGHT.

GO AHEAD AND MUTE EVELYN AND GO AHEAD AND MUTE ROSA.

ROSA, ROSA IS IS THE CURRENT DEAN OF COUNSELING.

AND ROSA IS GOING TO SAY A FEW WORDS ABOUT ABOUT EVELYN.

I LOOK TO SEE THE PROCESS ALREADY VERY CONNECTED.

GO AHEAD.

SHE STARTED HER CAREER WAS IN 1989 AS ADJUNCT OCCUPATION AND AND THEN STARTED AS A COUNSELOR.

SHE JOINED THE TEAM AND TRACKED CONVERSION.

LASTLY, AS SHE AS ONE OF THE LEAD COUNSELORS IN THE BUSINESS AREA, SHE CONSULTED FACULTY, DEPARTMENT CHAIR, SHE REVIEWED STANDARD REQUESTS AND MEMBERS OF THE ACADEMIC CENTER'S COMMITTEE.

AS I SAID EARLIER, SHE SPENT OVER 30 YEARS WITH US.

WE WERE PLEASED TO HER.

I'VE BEEN IN THE DIVISION FOR SIX MONTHS AND IT IS MY PLEASURE TO BE SERVING AS HER DEAN.

THANK YOU ALL.

>> THANK YOU.

>> ALL RIGHT BACK TO YOU.

THOSE ARE THE SIX POINTS THAT THE CHANCELLOR SUBMITTED AT THE CALL OF ACTION TO ALL COMMUNITY COLLEGES.

WHAT WE CHOSE TO DO IS LOOK AT LOOK AT FOR FOR A FUNCTIONING OF THE CAMPUS, ESSENTIALLY LOOK AT THE LANES OF THE STUDENT SUCCESS.

WHAT I MEAN WITH STUDENT SUCCESS ESSENTIALLY IS WHETHER OR NOT, ALL OF THE STUDENTS IN THE CAMPUS ARE SUCCEEDING AND HAVE THE SAME EXACT RATE MEANING DO WE HAVE ANY GAPS IN THE SUCCESS FOR THE STUDENT.

WHAT WE FOUND OUT IN DATA THAT WE COLLECTED OVER THE LAST YEAR, YEAR AND A HALF IS THAT WE HAVE DISPROPORTIONATELY IMPACTED GROUPS THAT LAG BEHIND ESPECIALLY IN FEW SUBJECTS.

OUR CALL OF ACTION IS GOING TO BE SENT TO THE EDUCATIONAL MASTER PLAN AND SIX ITEMS AND ALLOW A CHANCELLOR TO MEET IN THE FIELD.

AND THE WAY WE MEASURE THE SUCCESS IS WHETHER OR NOT WE CLOSE THE ACHIEVEMENT GAPS THAT EXIST AMONG OUR STUDENTS.

WE WILL MEASURE SUCCESS BY BY WHETHER WE'RE CLOSING THE ACHIEVEMENT GAPS ON THIS PROPORTIONATELY IMPACTED STUDENTS AND FOR FACULTY STAFF AND MANAGERS AND

[00:55:06]

ENTIRE COMMUNITY.

WE MUST CONTINUE TO WORK TO DIVERSIFY THE FACULTY STAFF AND THE CAMPUS TO INSURE THAT WE ARE REFLECTIVE OF THE COMMUNITY THAT WE SERVE AND YOU WANT STUDENTS THAT WE SERVE.

AND THEY SHOULD GO WITH THE SAME OPPORTUNITIES FOR SUCCESS.

AT THIS POINT WHEN WE'RE MAKING PROGRESS, WE HAVE GAPS ON THIS.

IF YOU LOOK INTO THE FUTURE, THE FUTURE WILL NOT LOOK ANY DIFFERENT IF WE DO NOT CLOSE THE ACHIEVEMENT GAPS WITHOUT IMPACTING MANY STUDENT GROUPS.

NEXT.

>> SO THE FIRST ONE IS A SYSTEMWIDE REVIEW OF THE LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS AND TRAINING AND CURRICULUM.

AS I MENTIONED IN MY COMMENTS WE HAVE BEEN WORKING ON HAVING A CULTURE OF INCLUSIVENESS IN OUR POLICE DEPARTMENT.

A VERY BIG PART OF THE CAMPUS.

THEY PARTICIPATE IN THE PROCESS AND NO ASPECTS OF CAMPUS SLIDES, THEY ARE NOT A SEPARATE ENTITY BUT THEY'RE PART OF CERRITOS COLLEGE LIKE ANY OTHER DEPARTMENT.

WE MADE PROGRESS BUT WE NEED TO MEMORIALIZE THE PROGRESS THAT WE'RE MAKING.

WITH THE HELP OF THE NEW CHIEF AND CAPTAIN, WE'RE GOING TO DEVELOP A PROCESS TO TRAIN LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS AND FIRST RESPONDERS ON THE COLLEGE VALUES.

THIS TRAINING AND MANUAL WILL BE DONE BY JUNE 2020.

2021, I'M SORRY.

THE POINT OF DOING THIS IS NOT ONLY AS WE UNBOARD OUR OFFICERS ON CAMPUS, BUT ALSO AS WE INTEGRATE STUDENTS, IT COULD FEATURE INTO LAW ENFORCEMENT, ALL FIRST RESPONDING.

NEXT.

AND COUNCIL MEMBERS ALL FROM DIALOGUE AND ADDRESS CAMPUS CLIMATE.

THANK YOU FOR ALL OF THOSE IN CAMPUS THAT PARTICIPATED.

IT WAS VERY WELL ATTENDED.

IT WAS GREAT CONVERSATIONS AND WE HAVE A GREAT MOMENTUM GOING FORWARD.

AS A RESULT OF THAT, WE'RE GOING TO ENCOURAGE THE DEVELOPMENT AND AND THE SUPPORT OF GROUPS TO INSURE THAT THERE IS DIALOGUE AN AMONG THE DIFFERENT GROUPS AND THE FILTERS INTO THE CULTURE OF OUR CAMPUS.

WE'RE GOING TO DEVELOP DIVERSITY COUNCIL AND THE DIVERSITY COUNCIL WILL BE IMPLEMENTED WITH THEIR WITH THEIR REGULATIONS AND RULES AND MEMBERSHIP BY JUNE 2021 OR PRIOR TO THAT.

WE'RE GOING IT WORK ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN ALLIED PROGRAM THAT IS FOCUSED ON BLACK AND AFRICAN AMERICAN STUDENTS AND FRAMEWORK FOR THE PROGRAMS IS GOING TO BE DONE BY THE END OF THIS YEAR.

AND AND OUR ANNUAL [INDISCERNIBLE] IT IS A PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITY THAT WE HAVE BEEN PUTTING FORWARD IN THE LAST IN THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS IS GOING TO FOCUS THIS YEAR IN DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION AND CONVERSATIONS ABOUT RACE.

THE PLAN IS TO FOCUS ON THOSE CONVERSATIONS AND MAY HAVE A GOAL IN THE DIRECTION WE WANT TO DO.

WE WANT TO FOCUS ON SYSTEMATIC ISSUES, HOW WE ADDRESS POLICY CHANGES IN ORDER TO MAKE A COLLEGE A FRIENDLIER CAMPUS FOR ALL OF US.

FOR EVERYONE.

NEXT SLIDE, PLEASE.

>> CLASSROOM CLIMATE AND CREATE AN ACTION PLAN TO CREATE AN INCLUSIVE CLASSROOM.

IN THE WEEK OF ACTION, THERE WAS IDEAS THAT CAME OUT FROM THE DIFFERENT GROUPS THAT WE SPOKE WITH THAT TALK ABOUT THE INTEGRATION OF CULTURAL COMPONENTS, MANDATORY PART OF OUR CURRICULUM.

THE OFFICE OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS THAT LEAD AN AUDIT OF CLASSROOM CLIMATE, THE AUDIT WILL BE COMPLETED BY DECEMBER 2020 AND WILL DEVELOP A PLAN OF ACTION BY JUNE 2021.

WE UNDERSTAND THE CURRICULUM IS THE FACULTY TO CALL AND CONDUCT AUDIT AND WORK IT INTO THE CURRICULUM.

THE IDEA ABOUT THE CULTURAL COMPONENT SAID IT CAME OUT FROM MANY FACULTY MEMBERS

[01:00:08]

WHICH IS ENCOURAGING AS WE MOVE FORWARD DOING THIS WORK.

NEXT.

THIS IS A PLAN FOR URGENCY.

WE APPROVED AN UPDATE OR EQUITY PLAN.

WE HAVE BEEN AHEAD OF THE CURVE WHEN IT COMES DOWN TO THE PLAN.

YOU ALREADY DID THAT.

HOWEVER, SINCE OUR COMMITMENT IS TO CONTINUE TO CLOSE AND CLOSE AND IN WHICH WE CLOSE THE GAPS THAT DISPROPORTIONATELY IMPACT GROUPS, WE'RE GOING TO REVIEW A MASTER PLAN TO INSURE THAT WE ADDRESS ANY BARRIERS THAT LEAD TO STRUCTURAL [INDISCERNIBLE] AND WANTING OUR EDUCATIONAL MASTER PLAN.

THIS IS GOING TO BE MEANT TO REMOVE OBSTACLES SO WE HAVE EQUAL OPPORTUNITY AS WE PROGRESS TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE PROGRESS.

NEXT PLEASE.

IN THE TIME FRAME FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE INCLUSION PLAN.

WE'RE DOING ALREADY SOME WORK.

WE'RE GOING TO CONTINUE TO EXPEDITE THE PEER ONE RECOMMENDATIONS ON THE PLAN.

HOWEVER, I HAVE TO CLARIFY THAT THAT WHAT WE PLAN TO EXPEDITE THESE WE WILL NOT SACRIFICE THE QUALITY OF OUR ACTIONS AND THE ANALYSISES THAT WE NEED TO DO IN ORDER TO PROVIDE THE BEST SOLUTIONS THAT WE FACE IN ORDER TO IN ORDER TO YOU KNOW SAVE A FEW MINUTES HERE AND THERE.

WE WILL MEET DEADLINES AND LIKELY EXCEED THE EXPECTATION ON TIME TO COMPLETION BUT WE WILL TAKE OR TIME AND WE WILL LOOK TO INSURE THAT THE DECISIONS WE'RE MAKING ARE SOUND DECISIONS AND THAT WILL AND SUPPORT THE STUDENTS AND FACULTY STAFF AND ADMINISTRATORS AND EVERYONE IN THE COMMUNITY.

NEXT, PLEASE.

WE HAD ALREADY ENGAGED IN THE RESOURCE CENTER AND QUALITY FOR CHANGE.

WE ALIGNED OUR GOALS AND CONTINUED TO WORK INTO THAT ACTION.

WE BELIEVE THE WORK OF ALIGNING INTO CROSSING THE ACHIEVEMENT GAP FOR ALL OF THE IMPACTED GROUPS IS IS IS IS THE KEY COMPONENT OF EVERY ACTION THAT WE'RE TAKING.

EARLIER, IF WE ARE ENABLE IT CLOSE THOSE GAPS WE'RE NOT CHANGING THE SYSTEM.

THERE ARE COLLEGES THAT ARE ALREADY DOING THAT AND THEY'RE NOT EXCUSE FOR ANY OF US NOT TO GET THERE.

NEXT.

OUR COMMITMENT.

THIS ACTION I WILL PROPOSE TONIGHT AND THE CLOSED SESSION.

ONE THING ON AGENDA IS THE REVIEW OF GOALS FOR 2021, I PROPOSE THIS BECOME PART OF MY GOALS IN ORDER TO HOLD MYSELF AND FROM THAT POINT, HOLD EVERY EVERY GROUP ON CAMPUS ACCOUNTABLE TO THE SAME STANDARD.

WE'RE GOING TO PROVIDE RECENT UPDATES TO THE BOARD EACH AND EVERY SEMESTER SHOWCASING THE PROGRESS WE MADE IN EACH ONE OF THOSE GOALS.

I AM GOING TO TO ASK AND COMMIT TO THE EFFECTIVE COUNCIL TO LEAD BY EXAMPLE AND ENROLL IN TRAINING THAT IS SPECIFICALLY FOCUSED ON DIVERSITY AND EQUITY AND INCLUSION SO WE COULD BETTER SUPPORT THE CAMPUS AS WE CONTINUE TO DEVELOP EQUITY IN ALL SYSTEMS FOR ALL.

WE'RE GOING TO ENROLL IN THE SAME TRAINING.

WE'RE GOING TO DO THE SAME WORK AND EVERYONE ELSE WOULD HAVE SEEN EVERYONE ELSE TO DO ON CAMPUS SO WE WILL LEAD THE WAY BY BEING PART OF THE INITIAL TRAINING SO WE CAN SUPPORT YOU BETTER.

NEXT, PLEASE.

WE'RE GOING TO CALL OPEN ALL CAMPUS COMMITTEE TO DISCUSS THE COLLEGE THAT DIVERSITY STATEMENT ON RETURN TO CAMPUS IN THE FALL, YOU COULD YOU COULD BRING EXCERPT OF THE DIVERSITY STATEMENT BELOW.

WE'RE PLANNING TO DO IS ASK EVERY COMMITTEE TO REVIEW IT AND PRINT IT SOMEWHERE IN

[01:05:05]

THE AGENDA SO IT BECOMES TOP OF MIND OF WHAT WE'RE DOING AND WHY WE'RE DOING IT AND WHAT THE EXPECTATION IS.

I WANT TO [INDISCERNIBLE] THE EXPECTATION IS THAT WE KNOW WITH THINGS RIGHT, WHEN THE ACHIEVEMENT GAP OR THIS PROPORTIONAL IMPACT IF THE STUDENT GOES AWAY.

THAT'S WHEN WE KNOW THAT WE HAVE ACTUALLY DONE OUR WORK.

THAT WILL BE THE MEASURE OF OUR SUCCESS.

NEXT.

>> THERE IS SOMETHING THAT WE USE IN OUR CHRISTMAS CARD A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO AND WHEN WE SEND IT, WE RECEIVED FEEDBACK AND I STRONGLY BELIEVE ON THIS STATEMENT, PARTICULARLY TODAY, I THINK THIS IS AN AT THE SAME TIME THAT THAT DID NOT GET COLD, IN FACT IT LOOKS LIKE IT WAS WRITTEN FOR TODAY.

I THINK EVERY TIME THAT WE ARE WE ARE FACED WITH CHALLENGING SITUATIONS THEY HAVE TO DO WITH WITH DISCRIMINATION AND RACISM AND INEQUALITY AND WE WANT TO REMEMBER THE DIVERSITY AND [INDISCERNIBLE] TO SHARED HUMANITY.

THAT SHOULD GIVE US A LITTLE, THAT ACTION, GOING FORWARD.

>> THIS CONCLUDES MY PRESENTATION.

I'M HAPPY TO ANSWER QUESTIONS.

>> THANK YOU SO MUCH AND TO ALL WHO CONTRIBUTED TO PUTTING TOGETHER THIS ITEM RATHER QUICKLY.

BEFORE THE COMMENT AND DISCUSSION, YOU KNOW, I'VE BEEN ON THIS DIVERSITY EQUITY AND INCLUSION TASK FORCE REPRESENTING THE TRIPLE TMS THE LAST YEAR AND AND ONE OF THE THINGS WE CAME UP WITH WAS THE INTEGRATION PLAN AND I THINK ALONG THE TRUSTEES, THERE IS AN URGENT NEED TO HAVE THESE DISCUSSIONS AND TO HAVE TRUSTEES INVOLVED IN THE ACTION PLAN.

I WANTED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE DOCTOR AND HIS STAFF THAT PUT THIS TOGETHER QUICKLY FOR THE BOARD SO THEY COULD PROVIDE INPUT AND COMMENTS.

I WANT TO THANK HIM.

OPEN TO COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS AND WHAT WE COULD DO TO SUPPORT THE COLLEGE'S EFFORTS.

>> ANYBODY HAVE COMMENTS OR QUESTIONS? OKAY.

SO THE ONE QUESTION I HAVE IS IF YOU CAN FOLLOW UP BY SAYING THE TIER ONE RECOMMENDATION.

BECAUSE IT WAS IT WAS VERY DETAILED SPREADSHEET AND EVERYBODY WOULD KNOW WHAT THE TIER ONE RECOMMENDATIONS ARE AND THAT THAT WAS A GROUP THAT THAT OAKLEY WANTS US TO EXPEDITE WITHIN SIX MONTHS.

WE MAY HAVE THAT.

THE OTHER THING IS ON THE O THE GOAL ABOUT THE VISION RESOURCE CENTER, THAT'S KIND OF KIND OF ONLINE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CENTER.

THAT'S THE BEST WAY TO INSPIRE THE VISION BEHIND IT.

I ALWAYS FEEL THERE'S A NEED TO BETTER EDUCATE TRUSTEES ON WHAT THEY CAN DO AND THEIR ROLE.

EVERYBODY HAS A ROLE IN THIS AND TRUSTEES, YOU KNOW, RELATIVE TO POLICY AND BUDGET.

IT IS PART OF THE CALIFORNIA COMMUNITY COLLEGE SYSTEM.

I THINK IT WOULD BE HELPFUL OF YOU AND YOUR STAFF TO PUT TOGETHER A CONTENT SEGMENT FOR TRUSTEES.

I'M SURE YOU COULD GET FEEDBACK FOR THE TRUSTEES THAT HAVE BEEN ON THIS JOURNEY AND SPEAK UP ABOUT THIS.

I THINK THAT WOULD BE A HELPFUL MODULE THAT HAS BEEN MISSING FOR A WHILE.

>> WE CAN DO THAT.

WE SEND THAT INFORMATION, PROBABLY EARLY NEXT WEEK.

AND LOOKS LIKE WALLACE?

>> TRUSTEE WALLACE?

>> JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW THAT THE SILENT PRESENTATION AND I APPRECIATE THAT THAT REPORT FROM THE CHANCELLOR'S OFFICE.

ONE THING I WAS TAKING NOTES ON WAS CAMPUS LAW ENFORCEMENT WAS ON ONBOARDING DIALOGUE AND ADDRESS CAMPUS CLIMATE.

I THINK THAT'S A REALLY GOOD STEP TOWARD BUILDING ACCOUNTABILITY.

I WAS RECENTLY VOLUNTEERING OVER THE PAST MONTHS TO MEASURE OUR ACTUALLY PUT ON

[01:10:06]

THE BALLOT AND PASSED, ONCE THE ELECTIONS CAME AROUND FOR THE COUNTY.

THAT MEASURE JUST ESSENTIALLY PROVIDES OPPORTUNITY FOR COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE IN THE IN THE ONGOING DISCUSSION BETWEEN LAW ENFORCEMENT AS WELL AS FIRST RESPONDERS AND THAT IS SOMETHING CLOSE TO MY HEART CONSIDERING I COLLABORATE A LOT WITH THE FIRE DEPARTMENT HERE IN LONG BEACH.

I DEFINITELY LIKE TO HELP OUT MORE AND HAVE OTHER STUDENTS COME TOGETHER FOR THE CONVERSATION AND THIS DIALOGUE IN A WAY THAT DOES RAISE ACCOUNTABILITY AND I LIKE TO LEARN HOW TO DO THAT.

HOW TO INTEGRATE AND BRIDGE THE GAP BETWEEN STUDENTS AND THOSE THAT PROTECT AND SERVE THEM.

THANK YOU.

>> ANY OTHER COMMENTS? DON'T SEE ANY.

WE'LL GO AHEAD AND THIS IS ALSO RECEIVE AND FILE.

SO DO WE EVEN TAKE A MOTION?

>> NO, JUST RECEIVE AND FILE.

>> RECEIVE AND FILE AND WORK TO BE CONTINUED.

THANK YOU.

NEXT ITEM IS 4.03, THE CHAN LORE'S OFFICE SAFE CAMPUS REOPENING WORK GROUP REPORT.

>> I WAS SPEAKING ALREADY, I WAS MUTED.

THE CHANCELLORS OFFICE DRAFTED OR TASKED A NUMBER OF RESIDENTS AND CHANCELLORS AND TRUSTEES AND OTHERS THROUGHOUT THE STATE TO DEVELOP SOME GUIDELINES FOR SAFE OPENINGS.

THIS DOCUMENT WAS MADE AVAILABLE TO ALL OF US, I BELIEVE, AT AROUND A BOOK OR IS AGO AND THE IDEA OF THIS DOCUMENT IS NOT NECESSARILY TO TO TO SUPERSEDE ANY LOCAL ORDERS OR LOCAL DECISION MAKING BY DISTRICTS AS TO HOW TO OPEN, BUT PROVIDE A BROAD FRAMEWORK OF THINGS TO CONSIDER.

SO WE HAVE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO REVIEW THESE THESE PARTICULAR DOCUMENTS OVER THE LAST WEEK AND I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO SEE THA THAT [INDISCERNIBLE] AREA AND IT SEEMS THEY ADDRESSED MOST OF THE OF THE ITEMS THAT WE ALL SHOULD BE CONCERNED AS WE GO BACK TO REOPENING.

WE'RE PAIRING THE DOCUMENT THAT WAS ISSUED BY THE CHANCELLOR'S OFFICE WITH THE DOCUMENT WE'RE PUTTING TOGETHER AND REOPENING GUIDELINES.

WE'RE FINALIZING.

AND INSURE THAT THE TWO ALIGN THAT IS NOT DISCREPANCIES BETWEEN THE TWO.

SO INTENT OF THE ITEM HERE IS OBVIOUSLY TO PROVIDE AWARENESS OF THE DOCUMENT AVAILABLE TO INFORM THE BOARD THAT THAT THE DOCUMENT IS AVAILABLE IF YOU WISH TO SEE IT AND REVIEW IT.

NOT ONLY FOR US BUT TO SEE IF HE ALIGNS WITH THE GUIDELINES AND PROVIDE FEEDBACK THAT YOU MAY WANT TO PROVIDE TO US OR THE CHANCELLOR'S OFFICE.

>> THANK YOU, OTHER COMMENTS.

TRUSTEE WALLACE.

NOT SURE IF YOU HAD YOUR HAND RAISED FROM LAST TIME.

>> OKAY.

OKAY.

SO, THANK YOU.

IT SOUNDS LIKE, BIRKEY.

>> I HAVE A QUICK QUESTION, IF YOU COULD JUST TAKE A MINUTE AND I KNOW IT IS TOO EARLY TO PREDICT EXACTLY WHAT THIS MEANS FOR FALL BECAUSE EVERYTHING IS DYNAMIC.

WHAT KIND OF IMPLICATION DOES THIS HAVE IN RELATIONSHIP TO PLANNING AND DECISION MAKING REGARDING OUR POTENTIAL FALL CAMPUS?

>> WELL, THAT'S AN EASY AND TRICKY QUESTION, DR. BIRKEY.

WE HAVE BEEN WORKING OVER THE LAST SEVERAL WEEKS TO DO A REOPENING PLAN.

WE ARE PLANNING TO BRING COURSES BACK ON CAMPUS.

WE'VE BEEN DOING WORK AROUND CAMPUS AH MAKE SURE WE MEET THE SAFETY REQUIREMENTS.

THE [INDISCERNIBLE] THAT WE WERE THROWN IS THAT BELIEVE WHEN WE REOPEN, WE DID NOT FOLLOW THE NECESSARY [INDISCERNIBLE] AND WHEN I SAY WE, IT IS THE ROYAL WE

[01:15:16]

AND I THINK L.A.

COUNTY AND MOST OF THE COUNTY GUIDELINES FOR SLOWING DOWN THE SPREAD OF THE DISEASE.

WE CONTINUED TO POST HIGH NUMBERS OF INFECTIONS EVERY DAY WHICH IS STARTING TO CONCERN ME AS WE GET CLOSE TO REOPENING NOT THE WHOLE CAMPUS BUT SOME AREAS AND LIMITED CAPACITY INCLUDING THE FALL SEMESTER.

WE'RE MAKING ALL ARRANGEMENTS POSSIBLE TO MINIMIZE CONTACT AND BE ABLE TO MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCING, PROVIDE PPE AND ROTATIONAL SCHEDULES AND NOT ALLOWING PEOPLE TO JUST HANG ON ON CAMPUS AND COME AND GO FOR THE LAST WE'RE STARTING TO GET CONCERNED ABOUT THE HIGH NUMBERS WE'VE SEEN.

WE MAY HAVE TO HAVE TO CANCEL THOSE PLANS IF WE GET TO A POINT IN WHICH IS IS IS [INDISCERNIBLE] MUCH HIGHER THAN IT IS.

I BEEN LOOKING INTO ALSO ANTIBODY TESTING AND THE PROBLEM WITH ANTIBODY TESTING IS IT CONTINUES TO BE HIGHLY UNRELIABLE.

I'VE SEEN A NUMBER OF DOCUMENTS WHERE THEY DON'T GET [INDISCERNIBLE] MULTIPLE TIMES BUT DIFFERENT TESTS AND THAT RESULTS VARY.

SO, IT COULD GIVE YOU A FALSE SENSE OF SECURITY.

THE OTHER PART IS THAT THE CONSEQUENCES OF GETTING AN INFECTION ON A CLASSROOM, WHAT WILL THAT MEAN? THE SUSPENSION OF THE ENTIRE CHAS AND WORKING AND WAITING FOR THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT AND THE HIGH NUMBERS WE SEEM TO BE POSTING DAILY.

I THINK IN THE LAST WEEK, EVERY DAY HAS BEEN A NEW HIGH RECORD WHICH IS MOVING IN IN COMPLETELY OPPOSITE DIRECTION THAT WE SHOULD BE MOVING IN ORDER TO BRING PEOPLE BACK TO CAMPUS.

WE KEEP PREPARING FOR THE FALL SEMESTER.

WE LOOK FOR THE DATA AND DO EVERYTHING WE CAN TO INSURE WE HAVE FAITH.

BUT I WOULDN'T BE SURPRISED IF WE HAVE TO CHANGE PLANS BUT THE INFECTION GETS OUT OF CONTROL AGAIN.

>> THANK YOU.

ANYTHING ELSE?

>> NO.

>> ANY OTHER COMMENTS OF BOARD MEMBERS?

>> CAN I ASK A QUESTION?

>> YES.

>> I HAD A QUESTION ABOUT DID YOU READ THE ARTICLE IN THE L.A.

TIMES THAT TALKS ABOUT THE PERCENTAGE OF STUDENTS WITHDRAWING FROM THE ONLINE LEARNING FROM COMMUNITY COLLEGES?

>> NO, I DID NOT.

HOWEVER, WE HAVE BEEN B TRACKING THE WITHDRAWAL RATES LOCALLY.

>> AND CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THAT?

>> YES, CAN YOU HELP ME WITH THIS?

[01:20:04]

I THINK WE HAD THE HIGHER NUMBER BUT IT WASN'T NECESSARILY WHAT WE EXPECTED.

THE HIGHER NUMBER THAT WE SAW RECENTLY WAS THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS REQUESTS THAT THE EXCUSE WITHDRAWAL AND AND THE END OF THE SEMESTER.

THEY GOT UNTIL THE END BUT MANY OF THEM BY THE END OF THE SEMESTER REQUESTED THE CHANGE OF GRADE TO WITHDRAWAL BECAUSE OF THE CRISIS.

WE DID EXPERIENCE IN THE FIRST COUPLE OF WEEKS, A HIGHER NUMBER OF 0 STUDENTS OF STUDENTS LEAVING THE CLASSES.

I THINK ABOUT 2,000 STUDENTS PROCESSED, 2,000 INDIVIDUAL STUDENTS IN INDIVIDUAL COURSES, COSTED TO CHANGE THE GRADE FROM WHATEVER IS THE [INDISCERNIBLE] IN THE END TO AN EXCUSE WITHDRAWAL.

>> YOU'RE CORRECT.

WE HAD EWS AND WE HAD QUITE A FEW FWS IN THE END AND THE STAFF PROCESSED SINCE MAY 22ND.

WE HAVE FULL REPORTS OF THOSE.

WE'LL BE ABLE TO PROVIDE THAT, ONCE THEY COMPLETE ALL OF THE EWS THAT THEY HAD.

BUT THE AMOUNT THAT THE DOCTOR IS REFERRING TO IS INFECTIONS.

A STAUNCH MAY HAVE ONLY DROPPED ONE SECTION BUT REMAINS IN OTHER COURSES, RIGHT? SOME STUDENTS AS YOU KNOW MAY HAVE DROPPED ALL BUT WE HAVE THOSE NUMBERS AS WELL.

>> WOULD YOU SAY OUR NUMBERS, AS CERRITOS COMMUNITY COLLEGE HASN'T BEEN IMPACTED WITH WITHDRAWAL RATES AS WE TRANSITION INTO ONLINE LEARNING.

>> WE'RE IMPACTED BUT NOT TO THE EXTENT I WAS EXPECTING.

WHEN WE SUBTRACT THE NUMBERS I WAS EXPECTING VERY VERY HIGH NUMBERS.

AND FORTUNATELY THEY WERE NOT AS HIGH AS WE EXPECTED.

I DON'T HAVE THE NUMBER IN FRONT OF ME.

THE FIRST COUPLE OF WEEKS IS WHERE WE EXPERIENCE THE HIGHEST CURVE.

IT WAS LIKE A 12 PERCENT INCREASE SOMETHING LIKE THAT COMPARED TO THE YEAR TO YEAR AND IT WILL LEVEL OUT TOWARDS THE END.

THE LAST I REMEMBER ON THE NUMBERS WAS A SEMESTER WHEN THE STUDENTS REQUEST A GREAT CHANGE AND I BELIEVE THAT WAS 2,000 INDIVIDUAL SECTIONS AS MENTIONED.

>> YEAH.

I AGREE.

WE DID CONDUCT A SURVEY TO BETTER UNDERSTAND WHY STUDENTING WERE WITHDRAWING BECAUSE OF THE LEARNING.

THEY FELT SUPPORTED BY THE FACULTY AND IN THE TRANSITION BUT THE BIGGER REASON PARTICULARLY WAS RELATED TO TO LOSS OF JOB AND FAMILY AND PERSONAL REASONS THAT IMPACTED THEIR ABILITY TO REMAIN FOCUSED IN SCHOOL.

>> THANK YOU FOR THAT.

MAYBE NEXT MEETING, GET DATA SO WE KNOW WHAT THE PERCENTAGES ARE FOR OUR COLLEGE.

THAT WOULD BE GREAT.

>> ABSOLUTELY.

WE'LL MAKE IT AVAILABLE.

>> THANK YOU.

>> AS FOLLOW UP, WHAT MORE CAN WE DO TO SUPPORT THE STUDENTS SO THEY DON'T WITHDRAW FOR WHATEVER REASON, WHETHER AT HOME OR ACADEMICALLY, WHAT CAN WE DO?

>> WE HAVE THAT INFORMATION AND SHOULD BE EASY TO SHARE WITH YOU.

>> ALL RIGHT.

[5.01 Due from Community Education Fund and Due to Unrestricted General Fund]

SO.

THAT'S ALSO A RECEIVE AND FILE ITEM.

[01:26:18]

THANK YOU FOR BRINGING THAT TO OUR ATTENTION.

WE LOOK FORWARD TO THE REOPENING REPORT COMING OUT IN MORE DETAIL.

OKAY.

ITEM 5.01, ADMINISTRATIVE ITEM DUE FROM COMMUNITY EDUCATION FUND AND DUE TO UNRESTRICTED GENERAL FUND.

DOCTOR?

>> SO THIS IS POTENTIALLY A TRANSFER OF FUNDS TO BE ABLE TO UTILIZE GENERAL FUNDS TO GO WITH EXPENSES, FEDERAL AND SO ON ASSOCIATED WITH THE COMMUNITY AND EDUCATION DEPARTMENT AND SO THE COMMUNITY EDUCATION DEPARTMENT IS A DEPARTMENT THAT GENERATES REVENUE AND PROVIDING COMMUNITY BASED COURSES TO THAT REVENUE.

THEY HAVE A LARGE MAJORITY OF OPERATIONS.

WE HAVE BEEN CLOSED FOR SEVERAL MONTHS.

AND WE HAVE THE SUMMER SEMESTER AND PROBABLY NOT A LOT OF ABILITY FOR THE FALL

[6. Reports and Comments from District Officials]

SEMESTER.

THEY THEY ARE ESSENTIALLY IN THE RED AND WE'RE GIVING THEM A LOAN IN ORDER TO BE ABLE TO [INDISCERNIBLE] EXPENSES AS WE GO FORWARD.

THEY AS YOU KNOW DO FANTASTIC WORK AND WITH THE STUDENTS BUT AN ABILITY TO OFFER FULLER SPECTRUM OF CLASSES, THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GENERATE THE REVENUE.

SOMETHING THAT IS WORTH MENTIONING, DOESN'T MEAN THEY HAVE A LOT OF WORK.

A LARGE NUMBER OF CLASSES THEY OFFER IN CLASSES ONLINE.

THE INSTRUCTORS WORK WITH THEN AND THE JOB OFFERING SUMMER CLASSES TO THE COMMUNITY AND SO ON.

BUT THE GENERATION OF REVENUE HAS BEEN BEEN ENOUGH TO BE ABLE TO COPE WITH THE COST OPERATION, DESPITE THE EFFORTS THEY'RE MAKING TO CONTINUE TO OPERATE.

SO WE ARE WE ARE ESSENTIALLY ASKING THE BOARD TO APPROVE TRANSFER OF FUNDS FROM THE GENERAL FUND INTO THE COMMUNITY EDUCATION FUND IN ORDER TO [INDISCERNIBLE] THEIR EXPENSES.

>> PROBABLY NOT THE ONLY DEPARTMENT OR TIME THAT YOU SEE THESE [INDISCERNIBLE] IN THE NEXT SEVERAL MONTHS AS WE NAVIGATE THE ECONOMIC DIFFICULTIES AHEAD OF US.

>> ANYBODY HAVE QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS? WE'RE GOING TO TAKE A MOTION.

ACTION ITEM FOR APPROVAL.

MOTION FOR APPROVAL?

>> MOVED.

>> SECOND.

>> MOTION PASSES.

>> THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

THAT CONCLUDES THAT SECTION.

WE WILL MOVE ON TO REPORTS AND COMMENTS FROM DISTRICT OFFICIALS.

ITEM 6.01.

WE GO AHEAD AND START WITH TRUSTEE LEWIS.

>> OTHER THAN CLOSING IN MEMORY OF MILLIE TAYLOR WHO IS A CLOSE FRIEND OF NOT ONLY MY FAMILY BUT TO MANY MANY MEMBERS OF OUR COMMUNITY, YOU KNOW, I JUST WANT TO TO TO BLESS HER AND HER FAMILY FOR FOR EVERYTHING THAT SHE'S DONE AND AND YOU KNOW, HER LEGACY WILL DEFINITELY BE LIVING ON IN LA MIRADA FOR MANY YEARS TO COME.

THANK YOU FOR ALLOWING HER MEMORY TO BE HONORED HERE.

>> TRUSTEE BIRKEY? ONLY THING I HAVE TO REPORT OTHER THAN CONGRATULATING THE STAFF ON THE DIVERSITY WORK IS IS IS JUST TO LET YOU GUYS KNOW THAT I WILL I'M IN THE EXPECTING TO ATTEND THE NEXT BOARD MEETING ON AUGUST 19TH I BELIEVE IT IS DUE TO DUE TO THE FACT I'M EXPECTING MY SECOND CHILD.

SO I WILL BE I WILL BE MISSING YOU ALL, BUT NOT THAT MUCH.

>> CONGRATULATIONS.

>> THANK YOU.

>> AND YOUR WIFE.

YAH.

>> TRUSTEE WALLACE.

>> NO REPORTS.

>> THANK YOU.

>> TRUSTEE AVALOS.

>> NO REPORTS.

>> THANK YOU.

TRUSTEE CAMACHO RODRIQUEZ.

>> I WANTED TO SAY THANK YOU FOR THE PRESENTATIONS TODAY AND THE AWARDS GIVEN TO DO INDIVIDUALS THAT HAVE INVESTED IN THE COLLEGE AND THE COMMUNITY.

WE ACKNOWLEDGE EVERYONE'S HARD WORK THAT TEAMWORK IS REAL EVIDENT IN OUR GROUP.

AND AND I'M PROUD TO BE PART OF THE GROUP, THANK YOU.

>> THANK YOU.

>> TRUSTEE LIU.

>> NO REPORT, CONGRATULATIONS.

>> SALAZAR.

>> NO REPORT, THANK YOU.

>> ALL RIGHT.

OKAY.

AND THEN I WILL GO AHEAD AND MOVE ON TO IT RVPS.

VICE PRESIDENT LOPEZ?

>> NO REPORT, JUST CONGRATULATIONS TO TRUSTEE BIRKEY FOR HIS NEW BABY.

>> [INDISCERNIBLE] I GOT IT MAKE SURE IT GETS BORN.

>> ALL RIGHT.

ALL RIGHT.

>> ALL RIGHT.

>> DOCTOR?

>> NO REPORT TODAY AND CONGRATULATIONS AND ALSO HAPPY.

>> VICE PRESIDENT MIRANDA.

>> NO REPORT THIS EVENING, THANK YOU.

>> ALL RIGHT.

ALL RIGHT.

DR. PEREZ?

>> NO REPORT, THANK YOU.

[01:30:01]

>> ALL RIGHT.

THEN DOCTOR?

>> SO JUST WANT TO PROVIDE A VERY QUICK UPDATE ON THE BUDGET.

WE STILL WORKING ON THE NUMBERS, AS YOU MAY KNOW THE GOVERNOR TWO DAYS AGO SIGNED A BUDGET AND LAST NIGHT, WE SEE WE RECEIVE P2 FROM THE STATE AS WE CLOSE THE YEAR.

AS YOU KNOW, P2 ESSENTIALLY SETTLING THE 2019, 2020 ECONOMIC YEAR.

WE WERE SURPRISED WITH 8.9 MILLION DOLLAR DEFICIT.

WE WILL END THE 2019 20, 8.9 MILLION DOLLAR DEFICIT.

WE WERE EXPECTING, SO AS YOU KNOW, WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO MANAGE OUR FINANCES IN THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS AND PARTICULARLY LAST YEAR.

SO WE HAD WE HAD INFLUX OF REVENUE BASED ON OUR PERFORMANCE AND THE NEW FUNDING FORMULA.

SO, THE 8.9 MILLION DOLLARS FROM 2019, 20, IT IS A BIGGER SHORTFALL THAN WE EXPECTED.

IT IS STILL BIG.

WE'RE WE'RE FINISHING THE BUDGET, WE WERE EXPECTING TO FINISH THE YEAR WITH A SURPLUS OF ABOUT 1.5 MILLION DOLLARS AND NOT SURE IF WE'RE GOING TO BE ABLE TO ACHIEVE THAT NOW.

I'LL LET YOU KNOW MORE AS WE AS WE SETTLE AND ALIGN THE 2019 20 BUDGET.

WE'RE FINISHING ON ACCOUNTING ON CAMPUS.

GOING FORWARD, WE ALREADY START HAVING ISSUES WITH CASH FLOW.

WE DID NOT RECEIVE ANY FUNDING ALLOCATION FOR MAY OR JUNE FROM THE STATE.

SO WE HAVE WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO TO CLOSE THE COST OF OPERATION FOR MAY AND JUNE TO TO TO OUR GENERAL FUND DOLLARS.

WE EXPECT TO RECEIVE A PAYMENT FROM THE STATE FOR THOSE TWO MONTHS THAT WE HAVE NOT.

AND COMPENSATION FOR.

AND AT SOME POINT NEXT YEAR.

THIS IS AN ISSUE.

THESE ACCOUNTS FOR 335 MILLION DOLLARS ACROSS THE STATE AND THE NEW BUDGET THAT WAS ASSIGNED ON THE 29TH AND THE GOVERNOR BRINGS ADDITIONAL 1.45 BILLION DOLLARS FOR A TOTAL OF 1.8 BILLION DOLLARS IN THE [INDISCERNIBLE].

I KNOW THE BUDGET SAYS 1.4 BUT THAT'S NOT 100 PERCENT CORRECT.

WE NEED 335 MILLION FROM THE YEAR WE CLOSED.

SO SAYING THAT THAT THAT GOAL WAS TO PROVIDE US WITH A BUDGET AND THE EXPENSES IS NOT IF NECESSARILY CORRECT.

WHAT IS CORRECT IS THAT EVENTUALLY WE WILL GET PAID.

IN THE MEANTIME WE WILL NOT HAVE THE DOLLARS TO OPERATE AT 100 PERCENT CAPACITY WITH THE AMOUNT OF [INDISCERNIBLE] IF YOU COMBINE THE TWO [INDISCERNIBLE] IN 2019 20 AND THEY EXPECTED THE FERRELLS FROM 20, 21, WE'RE TALKING ABOUT 1.8 BILLION DOLLARS.

ANALYZING 2020, 21 IS 4.2 BILLION DOLLARS AND TRANSLATES INTO ANYWHERE BETWEEN FIVE TO SIX MONTHS WITH NO REVENUE FOR THE DISTRICT.

SO WHILE ON PAPER, THEY T DID NOT CUT OUR FUNDING, IN ACTUALITY, WE WILL NOT GET FIVE TO SIX MONTHS WORK OF REVENUE.

WE CANNOT OPERATE WITHOUT FIVE OR SIX MONTHS OF REVENUE JUST TO GIVE YOU A GENERAL REPRESENTATION, WE EXPAND ROUGHLY ABOUT 10 MILLION DOLLARS A MONTH.

WE WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO COOPERATION WHICH MEANS IN THE NEXT FEW MONTHS WE WILL BE WILL BE INVESTIGATING THE ABILITY OF CONDUCTING A TRANSFOR ESSENTIALLY GETTING A LOAN WHICH WE WILL BORROW MONEY IN ORDER TO OPERATE AND THEY PAY US SO WE COULD PAY THE LOAN BACK.

THERE'S A CAVEAT THERE.

ABOUT 750 MILLION OF THE 1.4, 5 BILLION DOLLAR WILL GO AWAY IF THE IF THE GOAL

[01:35:07]

[INDISCERNIBLE] AND [INDISCERNIBLE] PACKAGE THAT WILL CLOSE THE GAP.

BUT STILL, THAT'S A LITTLE MORE THAN HALF OF THE DEFERRAL THAT WE WILL EXPERIENCE FOR 2020, 21 WHICH MEANS IT WILL HAVE MONTHS FOR WITHOUT REVENUE.

I DON'T WANT US TO PAY THERE, BECAUSE THE BUDGET SHOWS THAT WE WOULD POTENTIALLY ELIMINATE OR BRING CLOSE TO ELIMINATION THE THE DEFICIT ON PAPER, THE THE MONEY HAS BEEN ALLOCATED TO US BECAUSE IT HAS NOT AND WILL NOT.

SO ESSENTIALLY WHAT THEY'RE DOING IS MOVING THE PAYMENTS FURTHER AND FURTHER DOWN THE ROAD.

THE GOOD NEWS IT IS PLACING CALIFORNIA COMMUNITY COLLEGES SEVERAL TIMES AND THE STATE EVENTUALLY PAYS.

THE PROBLEM IS THEY DON'T PAY ON TIME.

WE WILL TRAVEL WITH CASH FLOW ISSUES NEXT YEAR AND THE SUBSEQUENT YEAR BASED ON THE TYPE OF DEFERRAL.

IT WILL NOT BE POSSIBLE FOR THE STATE TO CONVERT 100 PERCENT OF THE 1.8 BILLION DOLLAR DEFICIT, COMBINED 20 21 AND PAY 100 PERCENT OF THE ALLOCATIONS FOR 21 22.

IT WON'T BE POSSIBLE BASED ON THE TYPE OF REVENUES EXPECTED.

THIS IS GOING TO IMPACT US AT LEAST FOR FOR THE YEARS.

MOST PLACES THAT I HAVE LOOKED AROUND THE STATES ARE MAKING PROJECTIONS OF A MINIMUM OF THREE YEARS.

THAT'S ALL MY REPORT FOR TODAY.

THANK YOU.

>> ALL RIGHT.

THANK YOU.

I GUESS I'LL CONCLUDE REALLY QUICK.

I WOKE UP THIS MORNING AND LOOKED AT INSTAGRAM AND SAW SOMETHING THAT MADE ME SMILE.

I WANTED US TO RECOGNIZE OUR ADULT ED PROGRAM.

THEY HAD A NOTICE TODAY THAT THEY POSTED SAYING THAT THAT THE COLLEGE WANTS WANTS OUR ADULT ED AND OUR ESL STUDENTS AND OUR STUDENTS TRYING TO GET THEIR GED TO FULLY PARTICIPATE IN THE COLLEGE EXPERIENCE AND THERE'S A QUESTIONNAIRE TO ASKING THOSE STUDENTS IF THEY NEED ANY MEMBERSHIP WITH A LAPTOP OR WIFI.

[7. Closed Session]

IT MADE MY DAY.

I WANTED TO ACKNOWLEDGE EVERYBODY FOR THE STAFF THAT THEY'RE DOING TO SUPPORT THE STUDENTS.

I WAS HAPPY WHEN I SAW THIS.

I THINK THIS IS A POPULATION THAT OFTEN GETS OVERLOOKED AND WE HAD HEARD ABOUT THIS

[8. Closing Items]

WHEN WE TALKED ABOUT ABOUT ADULT ED AND ESL AS IT RELATES TO SEMINAL FIVE A FEW MONTHS AGO.

I WANTED TO ACKNOWLEDGE WHAT THEY'RE DOING AND ACKNOWLEDGE EVERYONE ACROSS THE CAMPUS.

WITH THAT I THINK WE'RE DONE WITH THIS ITEM.

WE'RE GOING TO GO TO CLOSED SESSION.

IS THERE A READOUT?

>> ONLY ONE.

>> THERE WILL BE A READOUT.

SO IT IS 8:40, WE WILL TAKE A BREAK AND RECONVENE AT 8:55.
