OVER MY 25 YEAR CAREER AS A FACULTY MEMBER AT CERRITOS COLLEGE, I HAVE PRESENTED BEFORE THIS BOARD ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. ALWAYS PROUD TO REPRESENT THE SUCCESSES AND INITIATIVES THE COLLEGE HAS ENTRUSTED ME TO LEAD. WHILE YOU MAY NOT HAVE SEEN ME PERSONALLY PRESENT BEFORE, YOU HAVE UNDOUBTEDLY SEEN MANY OF MY FACULTY COLLEAGUES SERVE IN THE SAME ROLE, REPORTING ON THE IMPORTANT WORK WE CARRY OUT BEYOND THE CLASSROOM. IN ADDITION TO OUR TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES, THE COLLEGE RELIES ON FACULTY TO ADVANCE INITIATIVES THAT ARE VITAL TO ITS MISSION AND TO THE COMMUNITY WE SERVE. OVER THE PAST DECADE, I HAVE BEEN PART OF A DEDICATED TEAM THAT HAS GROWN OUR CHICANO STUDIES DEPARTMENT DEPARTMENT AND SUPPORTED THE DEVELOPMENT OF DISTINCT PROGRAMS AND DEPARTMENTS ACROSS EACH OF THE FOUR ETHNIC STUDIES AREAS. THIS GROWTH HAS BEEN INTENTIONAL, COLLABORATIVE AND ROOTED IN LONG TERM VISION, IN A LONG TERM VISION DESIGNED TO SERVE OUR STUDENTS AND COMMUNITY IN WAYS THAT ALIGN WITH THE VERY TENETS OF THESE DISCIPLINES. TODAY, I STAND BEFORE YOU IN THAT SAME SPIRIT OF SERVICE AND RESPONSIBILITY. I AM HERE TO SAY THAT A MISTAKE HAS BEEN MADE. THE LONG TERM PLAN FOR THE ORGANIC DEVELOPMENT OF OUR ETHNIC STUDIES DEPARTMENTS, CAREFULLY BUILT OVER YEARS OF COLLABORATION, HAS BEEN REPLACED WITH A NEW PLAN DEVELOPED WITHOUT CONSULTATION AND OUTSIDE OF AN EXPECTED PROCESS. THE FACULTY WHO CREATED AND NURTURED THESE PROGRAMS WERE NOT CONSULTED. THE COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND ADVISORY COMMITTEES, WHO HAVE BEEN INTENTIONALLY INCLUDED THROUGHOUT THE YEARS OF DEVELOPMENT, WERE NOT CONSULTED. THROUGHOUT MY CAREER, I HAVE WORKED LOYALLY TO SUPPORT EFFORTS CENTRAL TO THE COLLEGE'S MISSION. I AM HERE TODAY IN THAT SAME CAPACITY TO ADVOCATE FOR A RETURN TO THOUGHTFUL, COLLABORATIVE PLANNING THAT HONORS THE WORK THAT HAS BEEN DONE, RESPECTS SHARED GOVERNANCE AND REMAINS ACCOUNTABLE TO THE STUDENTS AND THE COMMUNITY. WE ARE HERE TO SERVE AND PRIORITIZE ACADEMIC INTEGRITY. YOU MOST LIKELY WILL NOT HEAR HOW THE DEMOGRAPHICS OF THE COMPARISON COLLEGES ARE DRAMATICALLY DIFFERENT FROM CERRITOS. FOR EXAMPLE, GLENDALE STUDENT BODY IS 40% HISPANIC COMPARED TO CERRITOS 70%. IN OTHER WORDS, THE PURPOSE BEHIND TONIGHT'S PRESENTATION, I FEAR, IS TO JUSTIFY A POOR DECISION THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN ENACTED OUTSIDE OF AN EXPECTED PROCESS AND SHARED GOVERNANCE. WHAT IS ESPECIALLY CONCERNING IS THAT THE SUBSTANTIAL WORK COMPLETED PRIOR TO THIS REPLACEMENT PLAN IS NOW BEING DIRECTLY USED AS A FOUNDATION FOR MOVING FORWARD. WHILE THE VERY FACULTY WHO DEVELOPED THAT WORK HAVE BEEN MARGINALIZED IN THE PROCESS. AS YOU WILL SEE IN THE SLIDES OF THE ACADEMIC AFFAIRS PRESENTATION. MOREOVER, WE OPPOSE THE CREATION OF A SINGLE CONSOLIDATED ETHNIC STUDIES ACADEMIC PROGRAM AS IT UNDERMINES THE DISCIPLINARY INTEGRITY OF AFRICANA STUDIES, AMERICAN INDIAN STUDIES, ASIAN AMERICAN STUDIES, AND CHICANO STUDIES THAT ARE ALREADY ESTABLISHED WITHIN YOUR INSTITUTION. OUR COUNCIL IS COMPOSED OF ETHNIC STUDIES FACULTY FROM ALL 23 CAMPUSES OF THE CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY SYSTEM, AND WE ARE COMMITTED TO ENSURING THAT AFRICANA STUDIES, AMERICAN INDIAN STUDIES, ASIAN AMERICAN STUDIES, AND CHICANO STUDIES REMAIN DISTINCT ACADEMIC DISCIPLINES WITHIN OUR INSTITUTIONS. THIS DOES NOT SERVE OUR STUDENTS WELL IN TERMS OF DISCIPLINARY INTEGRITY, ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE, AND A CULTURALLY RELEVANT EDUCATION. MAINTAINING PROGRAM ALIGNMENT BETWEEN COMMUNITY COLLEGES AND CSU'S IS ESSENTIAL FOR ARTICULATION AND SUCCESSFUL TRANSFER PATHWAYS FOR STUDENTS. AND IT WAS PART OF THE CHANGES IN THE CYCLE OF MOVING PEOPLE BEYOND WHAT WE EXPERIENCED IN OUR COUNTRY WITH SEGREGATION AND SOME OF THE OTHER UGLY THINGS THAT, THAT WERE CARRIED OUT OVER THE YEARS AND TODAY ACTUALLY ARE IN SOME WAYS ARE CONTINUING TO BE CARRIED OUT. SO WHEN, WHEN WE WERE INVOLVED IN THAT THE IDEA WAS TO ALWAYS KEEP THE COMMUNITY CONNECTED. AND I'VE BEEN IN THIS COMMUNITY SINCE 1953, LIVING RIGHT HERE OFF STUDEBAKER AND EXCELSIOR DRIVE. WELL, I SPOKE WITH PROFESSOR ARCE, WHOSE CLASS I VISITED, AND PROFESSOR I HER NAME JUST DROPPED. ANYWAY, I'LL GET BACK TO THAT IN A MINUTE. AND PROFESSOR ARCE TOLD ME THAT IN 2020 HE HAD 29 STUDENTS. NOW, AS THE FACULTY SENATE REPRESENTATIVE TO THE CURRICULUM COMMITTEE, I STRONGLY OBJECTED AND EVEN ASKED EVERY PROFESSOR WHO WROTE A CLASS WOULD YOU BE WILLING TO CROSS-LIST YOUR COURSES WITH THE EXISTING ETHNIC STUDIES DEPARTMENTS? AND EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM SAID NO. IN FACT, POLITICAL SCIENCE SAID NO. MANY, MANY, MANY TIMES. 3 OR 4 TIMES, TO BE EXACT. THEY ALL REFUSED TO CROSS-LIST COURSES WITH PROGRAM, WITH DEPARTMENTS THAT WERE ALREADY CREATED IN FAVOR OF CROSS-LISTING, [00:20:02] WITH A PROGRAM AND A DEPARTMENT THAT WASN'T EVEN IN EXISTENCE. I'M NOT GOING TO NAME THE COURSES, BUT THERE WERE SIX THAT I REMEMBER. YOU'RE ALSO GOING TO SEE SOME COMPARISON WITH OTHER SCHOOLS NOW. THEY HAVE ONE OF THE NUMBER ONE LONGEST ESTABLISHED CHICANO STUDIES DEPARTMENTS IN THE COUNTRY. CURRENTLY, THEY HAVE 71 SECTIONS OFFERED THIS SEMESTER, AND THEY HAVE A CHICANO STUDIES DEPARTMENT, NOT AN ETHNIC STUDIES DEPARTMENT WITH AN UMBRELLA AS AN UMBRELLA FOR OTHER DEPARTMENTS. THEN YOU HAVE CAL STATE NORTHRIDGE, FOUNDED BY THE CHICANO STUDIES DEPARTMENT, FOUNDED BY THE GODFATHER OF CHICANO STUDIES HIMSELF. THEY HAVE A DEPARTMENT THAT'S WELL ESTABLISHED WITH A NUMBER OF STUDENTS, A NUMBER OF GRADUATES. AND OF COURSE, I'D BE REMISS IF I LEFT OUT UCLA, WHO HAS THE NUMBER ONE CHICANO STUDIES PROGRAM OF ALL THE UC SYSTEMS. AND IT'S A DEPARTMENT, NOT A UMBRELLA OF ETHNIC STUDIES. I HAD THE PLEASURE AND THE OPPORTUNITY TO TEACH COURSES THERE. WHEN DAVID HAYES-BAUTISTA NEEDED A REPLACEMENT, I SUBSTITUTED FOR HIM ABOUT FOUR DIFFERENT TIMES, TEACHING HIS COURSE ON LATINOS IN HEALTH, LATINO HEALTH AND CULTURE. SO THAT'S REALLY ALL I WANT TO SAY IS THAT WE DID A LOT AS FACULTY MEMBERS AND AS DEPARTMENT CHAIRS, EVEN THOUGH WE DID NOT MEET THE REQUIREMENTS TO TEACH THE COURSE, MANY OF US, WE HAD BEEN DEPARTMENT CHAIRS. SO SINCE 2021 AND AFTER THE PASSAGE OF 18 AB 14 60, THE BILL THAT MADE ETHNIC STUDIES A REQUIREMENT, THERE HAVE BEEN ONGOING INSTITUTIONAL EFFORTS TO TO DIMINISH AND UNDERMINE CHICANO STUDIES, AFRICANA STUDIES IN THE FORTHCOMING ASIAN AMERICAN AND NATIVE AMERICAN STUDIES PROGRAM. IN SPRING OF 2021, WE WERE INFORMED BY CCSF THAT THE DISTRICT WANTED TO CHANGE THE STATUS OF THE FIRST TWO PROGRAMS CHICANO STUDIES AND AFRICANA STUDIES FROM THESE AREAS, FROM, EXCUSE ME, FROM DEPARTMENTS TO PROGRAMS AND COLLAPSE THEM INTO ONE DEPARTMENT. IN FEBRUARY OF 2022 OF THAT YEAR, FACULTY FROM THESE AREAS INTRODUCED A SENATE RESOLUTION ADVOCATING FOR THE PRESERVATION OF OUR AUTONOMY AS DISTINCT DISCIPLINES AND DEPARTMENTS. AT THE SAME TIME, THEN-SENATOR, WHO NOW SERVES AS THE FACULTY SENATE PRESIDENT, PUT FORTH AN AMENDMENT TO OUR RESOLUTION THAT ARGUED FOR MAINTAINING DEPARTMENT STATUS FOR WOMEN'S AND GENDER STUDIES, BUT SOUGHT TO ELIMINATE THE CHICANO STUDIES AND AFRICANA STUDIES DEPARTMENTS AND COLLAPSE THEM INTO A SINGLE ETHNIC STUDIES DEPARTMENT. AFTER WORKING WITH THE FORMER DEAN OF LIBERAL ARTS, WHO NOW SERVES AS THE VP OF ACADEMIC AFFAIRS, THE VP OF ACADEMIC AFFAIRS AT THAT TIME COMMITTED TO OUR REMAINING AUTONOMOUS DISCIPLINES AND DEPARTMENTS. WE WERE ALSO SUPPORTED IN DEVELOPING THE TWO OTHER ETHNIC STUDIES DISCIPLINES NATIVE AMERICAN STUDIES AND ASIAN AMERICAN STUDIES. SO IN SPRING OF 2022, WITH THE APPROVAL AND SUPPORT OF THEN DEAN OF LIBERAL ARTS, AS WELL AS TWO ADDITIONAL DEANS, A NUMBER OF FACULTY AND I BEGAN EXTENSIVE RESEARCH ON NATIVE AMERICAN AND ASIAN AMERICAN STUDIES PROGRAMS AT BOTH TWO AND FOUR YEAR INSTITUTIONS, IN AN EFFORT TO BUILD SUSTAINED PROGRAMS THAT ALIGNED WITH ESTABLISHED DISCIPLINES. FROM THIS RESEARCH, WE DRAFTED GOALS FOR PROGRAMS AND COURSE DEVELOPMENT. WE WROTE DESCRIPTIONS, DEVELOPED PROGRAM LEARNING OUTCOMES, ESTABLISHED RELATIONSHIPS WITH FACULTIES IN THESE AREAS AT FOUR YEAR INSTITUTIONS. [00:25:01] IN ALL OF THIS WORK, WHICH WE DID OVER THE COURSE OF THREE YEARS, WE WERE COMMITTED TO IT AND WE DID IT TO SUPPORT. WE DID IT IN SUPPORT AND IN COLLABORATION WITH ADMINISTRATION. THROUGH THIS, WE CREATED AN AA AND NATIVE AMERICAN STUDIES IN SEVEN STAND ALONE COURSES. WE ALSO CREATED A CERTIFICATE OR FACULTY, CREATED A CERTIFICATE AND A T IN ASIAN AMERICAN STUDIES AND SIX STANDALONE COURSES. ALSO, I SHOULD NOTE THAT THESE COURSES HAVE NOT YET BEEN OFFERED BECAUSE THE CURRICULUM PROCESS IS A TWO YEAR PROCESS. WE'RE AWAITING GE APPROVAL FROM CSU AND UC, THE CHANCELLOR'S OFFICES. THE PROPOSED START DATES ARE FALL OF 2026. THE SECOND SIGNIFICANT INSTITUTIONAL CHALLENGE IMPACTING THE ETHNIC STUDIES, PROGRAMS AND DEPARTMENTS CAME IN SPRING OF 2023, WHEN THEN SENATOR, WHO NOW SERVES AS THE FACULTY SENATE PRESIDENT, CREATED A SENATE AD HOC COMMITTEE FOR THE PURPOSE OF DEVELOPING INSTITUTIONAL DEFINITIONS FOR DEPARTMENTS AND PROGRAMS. EVEN AS DEFINING PROGRAMS AND DEPARTMENTS IS NOT FACULTY PURVIEW, THE DEFINITIONS THAT THIS COMMITTEE ULTIMATELY CREATED DISQUALIFY CHICANO STUDIES AND BLACK STUDIES FROM FULL DEPARTMENT STATUS. WE RAISED CONCERNS THAT THESE DEFINITIONS DISPROPORTIONATELY HARM THESE TWO ETHNIC STUDIES DEPARTMENTS, PARTICULARLY AT A TIME WHEN ETHNIC STUDIES HAD BECOME A GRADUATION REQUIREMENT AND WE HAD THE SUPPORT OF ADMINISTRATION TO REMAIN DEPARTMENTS. THE RESPONSE FROM THE SENATE PRESIDENT WAS THAT THIS WAS SHEER CIRCUMSTANCE. OKAY. I DO WANT TO SAY, OF COURSE, WE HEARD ABOUT THE THIRD INSTITUTIONAL CHALLENGE THAT THERE ARE DEPARTMENTS OUTSIDE OF ETHNIC STUDIES DEPARTMENTS THAT HAVE CREATED CROSS-LISTED ETHNIC STUDIES COURSES. THESE COURSES ARE PROBLEMATIC BECAUSE THEY'RE HOUSED IN DISCIPLINES. THEY'RE HOUSED OUTSIDE OF ETHNIC STUDIES DISCIPLINES. THEY DISREGARD THE MINIMUM CALLS FOR THAT PARTICULAR AREA. THE THE PRIMARY PREFIX IS NOT ETHNIC STUDIES, AND THESE COURSES DO NOT FOLLOW A SEQUENCE OF COURSES CREATED AS PART OF A CURRICULUM DEDICATED EXCLUSIVELY TO THESE ETHNIC STUDIES. AREAS. IT'S EQUIVALENT TO AFRICANA STUDIES, WRITING A CHEMISTRY COURSE AND SAYING THAT WE'RE DOING CHEMISTRY OR ENGLISH WRITING A HISTORY COURSE IN CLAIMING THAT IT'S DOING HISTORY, IT VIOLATES DISCIPLINARY DEFERENCE. AND JUST TO TO CONCLUDE THAT AS FACULTY WHO HAVE DEVELOPED THESE AREAS, AGAIN, A LOT OF OUR WORK IN OUR KNOWLEDGE HAS BEEN DISCOUNTED. BUT WE'RE ARGUING FOR SHARED GOVERNANCE AND THE PRACTICE OF OUR BEST PRACTICES AT THIS COLLEGE. WE NEED TO BE ABLE TO RELY ON INSTITUTIONAL STRUCTURES. AND SO IT'S OUR HOPE THAT WE CAN RETURN TO THE AGREED UPON STRUCTURE FOR ETHNIC STUDIES, ENGAGE IN SHARED GOVERNANCE AND MEANINGFUL DISCUSSION ABOUT DECISIONS REGARDING ETHNIC STUDIES. THANK YOU. HE MENTIONED MULTIPLE TIMES THAT THAT IS THE PURVIEW OF THE DISTRICT, THAT THE ONLY PURPOSE OF THE CSU COUNCIL ON ETHNIC STUDIES IN RELATION TO COMMUNITY COLLEGES IS TO ENSURE THAT WHEN WE SUBMIT A COURSE FOR CERTIFICATION FOR ETHNIC STUDIES, TRANSFERABILITY, THAT IT MEETS THREE OF THE FIVE ETHNIC STUDIES CORE COMPETENCIES, AND THAT'S IT. AND SO TO THAT END, I DO WANT TO READ A LIST OF CAL STATES THAT ACTUALLY HAVE AN UMBRELLA ETHNIC STUDIES DEPARTMENT WITH INDIVIDUALIZED OTHER ETHNIC STUDIES DISCIPLINES BEING INTACT. FOR EXAMPLE, WHEN IT COMES TO MATH EQUIVALENCY OR ENGLISH PLACEMENT DECISIONS OR DECISIONS VERSUS WHERE TO HOUSE PROGRAMS, YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO REACH OUT AND DISCUSS THOSE ISSUES WITH THE DISCIPLINE EXPERTS. THE REALITY IS WE ACTUALLY HAVE ONE FULL TIME ETHNIC STUDIES DISCIPLINE EXPERT ONE, AND THAT WAS THE PERSON THAT DECIDED TO ACTUALLY HOUSE EVERYTHING UNDER ONE SO THEY COULD ACTUALLY GET LARGER, FASTER AND THEN BRANCH OUT WHEN WE START HIRING MORE ETHNIC STUDIES, DISCIPLINE EXPERTS. SO IN ORDER TO HELP ORGANIZE THINGS, WE DIVIDED OUR PROJECTS INTO FOUR TIERS. SO TIER ONE WOULD BE EXPANDING THE CLASSES OF THE PATHWAYS THAT WE ORIGINALLY HAD. THAT WAS ON THAT FIRST LIST THAT WE JUST TALKED ABOUT. TIER TWO WOULD BE THE CLASSES TO CREATE AND EXPAND OUR NEW PATHWAYS. TIER THREE, ARE CLASSES TO SUPPORT OUR INDIRECT PATHWAYS. SO THAT MEANS THAT WE DIDN'T REALLY PLAN ON HAVING A PATHWAY. BUT OUR FACULTY IN COMMUNICATION STUDIES, THEY CREATED A COMPLETE DTC PATHWAY. SO WE PLAN TO BE ABLE TO ADD TO THOSE INDIRECT PATHWAYS AS WELL. AND THEN TIER FOUR IS OUR GENERAL EDUCATION. SO THOSE ARE CLASSES THAT ARE GOING TO SUPPORT ALL OF OUR PATHWAYS. SO TONIGHT BOARD WE'RE RECOMMENDING 50 PROJECTS FOR APPROVAL. SO TO UNDERSTAND OUR PROJECT DELIVERABLES WE HAVE CREATED OR WE ASKED OUR FACULTY TO CHOOSE OPTION ONE THROUGH FOUR. AND THEN AS A TASK FORCE WE RECOMMENDED TWO PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CLASSES THROUGH THE OER. THOSE WOULD BE THE OER BASICS CLASS AND THE OER ACCESSIBILITY CLASS. WE ALSO UNDERSTAND THAT THIS GRANT HAS BEEN AROUND FOR A FEW YEARS NOW. AND SO WE ALSO WANTED TO PROVIDE AN OPPORTUNITY FOR FACULTY WHO WERE INVOLVED IN THE GRANT EARLY ON TO HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE THAT PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT. SO WITH 50 PROJECTS, WE UNDERSTAND THAT THAT'S GOING TO REQUIRE QUITE A BIT OF SUPPORT. AND SO TO DO THAT, WE LAUNCHED, WE HAD AN OFFICIAL KICKOFF ON FEBRUARY 6TH AND WE HAD 37 FACULTY MEMBERS IN ATTENDANCE AND WE INTRODUCED THE FOLLOWING. SO THE FIRST WOULD BE THAT WE INTRODUCE FACULTY SUPPORT PEER MENTORS. THOSE ARE CONSISTING OF TASK FORCE MEMBERS. ALL TASK FORCE MEMBERS ARE FACULTY WHO HAVE GONE THROUGH THIS PROCESS THEMSELVES. THERE'S SOME THAT ARE ALREADY RETIRING, EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE THE NUMBER OF YEARS. SO WE HAVE A TRUE TREASURE HERE AT OUR COLLEGE. AND I'D LIKE TO SAY THAT HE'S USUALLY A STEP AHEAD OF ME WHEN I'M LIKE DOCTOR FIERRO. HE'S ALREADY, YOU KNOW, THOUGHT OF IT AND DONE IT. SO I REALLY I REALLY WANT TO THANK YOU FOR YOUR LEADERSHIP. I'M STILL GETTING TO KNOW YOU IN TERMS OF ALL THE STUFF THAT YOU DO FOR OUR COLLEGE, BUT IT'S REALLY NICE THAT WHEN I'M OUT THERE REPRESENTING OUR COLLEGE, THAT WE ARE RECOGNIZED AS A, AS A LEAD INSTITUTION AND THAT OUR STAFF WAS HIGHLIGHTED. SO THANK YOU FOR THAT. THE SECOND THING I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE AND OH, BEFORE I DO THAT, I DID WEAR YOUR RED YESTERDAY TRYING TO GET ANY FORTUNE OR ANY LUCK THAT I CAN GET. I GOT THE OPPORTUNITY TO GO TO THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION THAT WAS HELD AT THE EDWARD ROYBAL HOME. THAT WAS VERY SPECIAL. AND, AND, AND JUST BEING THERE AMONGST MANY LATINO ELECTED OFFICIALS WHO HAVE DONE SO MUCH IN THAT HAS DONE SO MUCH FOR ELECTED OFFICIALS, I, I TOOK SOME FACTS OF THEIR CELEBRATION AND WHAT THEY'VE DONE IN THEIR 50 YEARS OF NAHLIEL AND IT WAS EDWARD ROYBAL WHO STARTED NAHLIEL AND OBVIOUSLY HIS DAUGHTER WAS THERE, LUCILLE ROYBAL, I KNOW HIS OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS WERE THERE. I'M NOT TOO FAMILIAR WHO THEY ARE. I KNOW THAT THEY WERE SPEAKING. BUT IT WAS REALLY NICE BEING AMONGST LEADERS AND ALL THAT THEY'VE DONE. IT SAYS RIGHT HERE THAT THEY'VE THEY'VE SERVED 17,483 PUBLIC SERVANTS SINCE 2000. THEY HAVE LEADERSHIP ACADEMIES THERE. THEY HAVE A POLICY MAKERS THAT THEY ENGAGE AND IT'S A NONPARTISAN ORGANIZATION THAT HELPS TRAIN INDIVIDUALS. AND I KNOW DOCTOR LIU AND I WENT, I WENT TO ATLANTA LAST, LAST YEAR. YEAH. SO WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE PICTURE, IT SEEMS LIKE A LIST OF THE CEOS AT THE TIME, BUT THERE ARE SOME THAT ARE IN PURPLE, AND APPARENTLY THE PROJECTOR THAT WE'RE USING IN THE ROOM WASN'T VERY POWERFUL. SO PEOPLE ASSUMED THAT THE NAMES ON THAT LIST WERE PEOPLE THAT WERE RETIRING. SO I GUESS FOR A FEW HOURS THAT DAY I WAS ON THE RED LIST. BUT THANK YOU FOR THE KIND WORDS. IT'S REALLY NICE AND, AND OBVIOUSLY NONE OF THIS WOULD BE POSSIBLE WITHOUT ALL YOUR SUPPORT AND THE ENTIRE CAMPUS. I THINK WE ARE A GREAT COLLEGE. THE BEST COLLEGE. I THINK ROWAN WENT ON SATURDAY AND SOME OF YOU MAY HAVE ATTENDED AS WELL, BUT IT'S VERY IMPRESSIVE TO SEE THE STUDENTS GETTING THE TOPICS, HAVING A FEW MINUTES AND THE WAY THOSE TOPICS LIKE ONE, THEY BELIEVE ON IT AND THEY'RE TRUE EXPERTS OF EACH ONE OF THE TOPICS THAT THEY TALK ABOUT. SO INCREDIBLE DISCIPLINE. ONE OF THOSE THINGS.
