>> I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AND TO THE REPUBLIC FOR WHICH IT STANDS ONE NATION UNDER GOD INDIVISIBLE WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL.

[1.01 Roll Call]

>> ROLL CALL OKAY PLEASE.

>> ALL RIGHT SO WE WILL MOVE ON TO AGENDA ORGANIZATION, IT

[1.03 Agenda Organization]

IS ANY BOARD MEMBERS HERE WISH TO ORGANIZE THE AGENDA? OKAY SEEING ON, WE WILL MOVE ONTO THE NEXT ONE, WHAT WE COMMENTS

[1.04 Comments from the Audience]

FROM THE AUDIENCE.

AND SO ONLY ONE.

OKAY.

ALL RIGHT, SO WE HAVE MOHAMMED, IS THE STUDENT WHO DID THE COMMENCEMENT SPEECH RIGHT? YES, YES GO AHEAD YES.

AND IT IS ABOUT A REQUEST FOR 42022 STUDENT PARKING FEE WITH WAIVER.

>> I GOT THERE IS GOING TO BE MOST BECAUSE BUT I GET THIS ME RIGHT NOW, I WANTED TO, SO MY WORK AT THE KIARA'S HAD CERRITOS COLLEGE, I'M THE ONE WHO GIVES THE WRISTBANDS.

I KNOW A LOT OF STUDENTS, AND THEY PAY FOR CAN YOU HEAR ME FINE?

>> YES

>> THEY PAY $2 FOR A ONE DAVEY, I MEAN, IT IS FINE IS NOT A BIG DEAL IT IS TO DEAL DOLLARS, I NOTICE IS GOING TO BE $50 IN REQUEST A STUDENT BOARD OF TRUSTEES TO WAIVE THAT FOR THE FALL, BECAUSE I THINK IT WOULD HELP STUDENTS.

AT LEAST, JUST FILL IT WON MORE SEMESTER IT WOULD HELP THEM OUT.

I HAD NO IDEA HOW THIS WORKS, SO I WAS KINDA CURIOUS AND I WONDERED HOW THIS WOULD GO ABOUT.

SHE WAS HELPFUL, THIS IS THE MEETING, AND I KIND OF KNOW THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES WE MET AT THE COMMENCEMENT DAY.

I REMEMBER YOU AND THE DOCTOR.

SO I MET SOME OF THE PEOPLE I JUST WANT TO COME AND ASK IF THAT WAS POSSIBLE? THAT IS THE COMMENT.

THANK YOU SO MUCH.

>> THANK YOU.

SO DO WE HAVE OTHER COMMENTS?

>> A GOOD EVENING WE HAVE RECEIVED ONE PUBLIC COMMENT VIA VOICEMAIL I WILL GO AHEAD AND PLAY THAT NOW JUST BEAR WITH ME ONE MOMENT.

>> HELLO MY NAME IS MARK, FACULTY DEPARTMENT CHAIR.

I AM INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTED IN THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES LACK OF INTEREST AND FACULTY GETTING THE CONTRACT.

IT IS BEEN A COUPLE YEARS NOW.

DISTRICTS ALL OVER THE AREA, ARE GETTING FAIR CONTRACTS.

I DON'T NOT SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS.

THIS IS BEEN GOING ON FOR A COUPLE YEARS AND WE DON'T HAVE MUCH LONGER.

THERE SEEMS TO BE NO INTEREST ON THE BOARD'S PART.

IN DOING THIS, AND THERE IS A FEW WORDS AND NO ACTION.

I APPRECIATE IF YOU WOULD ACTUALLY FOLLOW THROUGH AND DO THIS FOR FACULTY THANK YOU.

>> OKAY THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

AND WE WILL GOING TO MOVE ON

[1.05 Reports and Comments from Constituent Groups]

TO FROM THE CONSTITUENT GROUPS.

[00:05:02]

FIRST WE ARE GOING TO HAVE THE FACULTY SENATE PRESIDENT.

ARE YOU HERE? NO? ALL RIGHT, SO WE ARE GOING TO HAVE THIS SURREAL COLLEGE FACULTY FEDERATION PRESIDENT.

CCF F PRESIDENT.

>> I AM HERE.

TRUSTEES, OVER THE PAST FEW WEEKS, I HAVE A STABLE OF MY COLLEAGUES REACH OUT TO ME ABOUT AN ADVERTISEMENT BY SERINO CAUSES TO ATTRACT POTENTIAL FULL-TIME FACULTY MEMBERS.

IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING OF THE AD RAN IN LOCAL NEWSPAPERS INSTAGRAM AND FACEBOOK.

IT WASN'T AT FOR BEIJING.

AS MANY WHO CONTACT US REGARDING CONTENT OF THE AD WERE ACROSS THE CAMPUS.

THE REASON MY COLLEAGUES WERE REACHING OUT, BECAUSE OF THE STRONG NEGATIVE EMOTIONS ABOUT THE MISINFORMATION PRESENTED BY THE COLLEGE AND AS SUCH DECEITFUL MANNER.

CONSEQUENTLY, CCF F BELIEVES THAT IT IS IMPORTANT TO CORRECT A MISLEADING NARRATIVE PERPETUATED IN THE RECENT RECRUITMENT ADVERTISEMENT FOR FULL-TIME THEATER FACULTY.

FIRST, THE ADVERTISEMENT AND AVERAGE SALARY AND BENEFITS FOR FULL-TIME FACULTY MEMBER IS $163,000.

THIS IS MISLEADING FOR SEVERAL REASONS.

FIRST, THE STARTING SALARY FOR THIS POSITION WITH A MASTERS DEGREE, IS $70,000.

LESS THAN HALF THAT WHAT THE DISTRICT IS ADVERTISING.

ADDITIONALLY FACULTY WITH ONLY THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FO OF JUST OVER $100,000 IN ABOUT TEN YEARS.

A FACULTY WITH MINIMUM QUALIFICATION WOULD NEVER REACH AN AVERAGE SALARY AND THE BENEFITS OF THE DISTRICT IS SIDING.

THE NEXT BULLET CLAIMS THEY RECEIVE AT LEAST $29,000 IN HEALTH AND DENTAL AND VISION AND BENEFITS.

THIS IS INACCURATE, THE AVERAGE HEALTH INSURANCE CARDS FOR FULL-TIME FACULTY IN THE FAMILY IS 19,000.

THIS IS SIGNIFICANTLY LESS THAN THE AMOUNT ADVERTISED IN THE FLYER.

THIS IS ALSO SIGNIFICANTLY LESS THAN 29,000 CAP LISTED IN THE TENTATIVE AGREEMENT ON HEALTHCARE.

ESSENTIALLY THE DISTRICT STATES ABOUT THE $10,000 ON HEALTHCARE FOR EVERY FACULTY.

WITH ABOUT 200 FULL-TIME FACULTY AND THE COST SAVING IS ABOUT $2 MILLION ANNUALLY.

THE NUMBERS IN THE FLYER DON'T AT ALL.

NEXT, THE DISTRICT CLAIMS THAT FLEXIBLE WORK SCHEDULES WITH ONLINE OR IN PERSON OPTIONS.

WHAT IS NOT SUPPRESSED, OR EXPRESS SORRY IN THE FLYER IS THAT ASSIGNMENTS ARE AT THE DISCRETION OF THE DISTRICT.

THIS MEANS THAT YOUR FLEXIBLE ASSIGNMENT COULD BE EVENINGS, WEEKENDS, IN PERSON, HYBRID, SYNCHRONOUS, ASYNCHRONOUS, SHORT-TERM, OR FULL-TERM CLASSES.

CLAIMING THAT WORK SCHEDULE ARE FLEXIBLE CREATES THE ASSUMPTION THAT FACULTY HAVE TOTAL AUTONOMY IN CREATING AND EXECUTING SCHEDULES AND MODALITIES WHICH THEY PREFER TO TEACH.

THIS MESSAGING IS DIFFICULT TO SWALLOW, WE KNOW THAT TH LIKELY BE ASSIGNED CLASSES THAT ARE LEFT ON STAFF FOR THE FALL.

IT IS ALSO INTENTIONALLY MISLEADING TO WE KNOW THAT THE CURRENT FACULTY DO NOT GET TO ENJOY THAT FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE ADVERTISE.

I HAVE HEARD, FACULTY ARE STRUGGLING TO GET ACCOMMODATIONS THAT WE NEED, BECAUSE THEY MAY NOT ALIGN WITH THE DISTRICT SCHEDULING VISION.

CCF F AS AT NUMEROUS FACU TREMENDOUS PRESSURE TO SCHEDULE AN IN PERS REGARDLESS OF THE STUDENT DEMANDS.

ADDITIONALLY, FACULTY WHO HAVE ATTEMPTED TO RECEIVE ACCOMMODATIONS FOR THE UPCOMING SEMESTERS, HAVE SENT THE PROCESS AS CONFUSING, SUBJECTIVE, AND OFTEN LEADS FACULTY GOING AGAINST THEIR BEST JUDGMENT, WHEN IT COMES TO THEIR HEALTH CONCERNS IN ORDER TO MEET THE DEMANDS OF THE DISTRICT.

IT SEEMS LIKE THE FLYER SHOULD ACTUALLY SAY THAT DISTRICT CAN SCHEDULE BASED ON THEIR NEEDS AND DEMANDS, REGARDLESS OF WHAT YOU AND YOUR PHYSICIAN BELIEVE IS THE BEST COURSE OF ACTION FOR YOU.

THE ONLY TRUE TO THE FLYER, RESPECT IS NEVER MENTIONED.

BECAUSE FROM WHERE I SIT, THERE IS NO RESPECT FOR FACULTY, I HAVE ONLY SEEN DISRESPECT FROM THE DISTRICT.

BECAUSE IT IS DISRESPECTFUL TO FORCE FACULTY TO MAINTAIN AND MAKE HEALTH CARE PLAN EVERY THREE YEARS, IT IS DISRESPECTFUL FOR FACULTY

[00:10:06]

FOR COST-OF-LIVING ADJUSTMENT PROVIDED BY THE STATE.

IT IS DISRESPECTFUL TO FACULTY THAT IN ALMOST EVERY RO TO GO TO FACT FINDING, AND START SAVING FOR A POTENTIAL STRIKE.

ALL OF THAT SAID, I UNDERSTAND THE MOTIVES OF THE FLYER.

THE DISTRICT WANT TO TRACK HIGHLY QUALIFIED CANDIDATES TO SERVE OUR DIVERSE STUDENT BODY.

WELL, IT MIGHT BE EFFECTIVE AT LOWERING FACULTY TO CERRITOS COLLEGE WITH FALSE PROMISES.

IT DOES NOTHING TO IMPROVE RETENTION RATES.

CCF F ENCOURAGES THE DISTRICT TO PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO RETENTION STRATEGIES, BEING EMPLOYED, AND ATTRITION RATES OF THE EMPLOYEES AT CERRITOS COLLEGE DOCTOR OFTEN CITES THE GREAT RESIGNATION AS A PART OF THE REASON WHY PEOPLE ARE SEEKING WHY FOLKS ARE FLEEING FROM THE COLLEGE.

HOWEVER, WHAT SPARKS THOSE RESIGNATIONS? WE WOULD ARGUE THAT IT IS THE LACK OF RESPECT AND THE DIGNITY AND THE LEADERSHIP AT CERRITOS COLLEGE.

WE KNOW THAT WE ARE AND IN EMPLOYEES MARKET, AND WE WANT TO RETAIN THE BEST AND THE BRIGHTEST THAT WE ALREADY EMPLOY THEIR NEEDS NEED TO BE RESPECTED.

THE DIGNITY NEEDS TO BE SHOWN TO FACULTY BY PAYING A QUALITY SALARY FOR QUALITY SERVICE AND EDUCATION WE PROVIDE TO OUR STUDENTS.

SHOW US THAT YOU ARE LEADERS WITHIN THE COMMUNITY, THAT YOU RESPECT THE SERVICE THAT FACULTY PROVIDES.

TO OUR COMMUNITY, PROVIDE COLA PLUS FAIR CONTRACT NOW.

>> THANK YOU.

WE WILL ASK OUR LINDA LOPEZ, AND THE CS THAT ARE A PRESIDENT, ARE YOU THERE?

>> I AM HERE THANK YOU.

SO GOOD EVENING BOARD MEMBERS, EXECUTIVE COUNCIL, AND GUESTS.

I DO FIRST WANT TO SEND MY CONGRATULATIONS TO AMBER DOUGLAS AS THE EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH FOR MAY OF 2022.

I ALSO SEND MY CONGRATULATIONS TO DAVID ON HIS RETIREMENT AND I HOPE HE ENJOYS HIS NEW CHAPTER IN HIS LIFE.

SADLY WE SAY GOODBYE TO EMPLOYEES.

WE WISH THEM ALL OF THE BEST AND MUCH SUCCESS AND THE NEW PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT.

AND AT A PAST BOARD MEETING THE QUESTION OF EMPLOYEE'S MENTAL WELL-BEING WAS POSED.

AND I KNOW THAT THERE WAS A RESPONSE THAT OUR EMPLOYEES ARE BEING SUPPORTED INTO THEIR MENTAL WELL-BEING.

SO WE HAVE MANY CLASSIFY PROFESSIONALS SUFFERING FROM HAVING TO DICTATE MINUTE TO MINUTE OF THAT WORKDAY, AND HOW THEY ARE GOING TO COVER THE COST OF INFLATION, AND THOSE SUFFERING FROM ENGLISH DROPPING THE KIDS OFF FROM SCHOOL, AND THE EVENTS THAT HAPPENED IN TEXAS.

ALL OF THIS, IS JUST THREE TOPICS THAT AFFECT OUR MEMBERS ON THE DAILY BASIS.

AND THEIR MENTAL WELL-BEING.

ALL I AM ASKING, OF OUR EXECUTIVE COUNCIL, OF OUR BOARD MEMBERS, OF OUR MANAGERS, IS TO SHARE SOME COMPASSION SHEER KINDNESS AND UNDERSTANDING TO OUR EMPLOYEES.

I'M NOT GOING TO TELL YOU TO DO THE RIGHT THING, BECAUSE AT THE INSTITUTION OF HIGHER EDUCATION YOU SHOULD KNOW BETTER, AND WE SHOULD ALREADY BE DOING THE RIGHT THINGS.

AND I BRING THESE TOPICS UP BECAUSE IT I UNDERSTAND THAT, WE MAY NOT KNOW WHAT IN HOW THINGS IMPACT THEM.

JUST SHARING KINDNESS AND COMPASSION, CAN GO A LONG WAY.

I AS A CONSTITUENT OF THE CITY OF NORWALK, AND I WANT YOU TO REPORT THAT TO ME, WHILE YOU ARE STARTING TO DROP OFF YOUR KIDS AT SCHOOL SHOOTINGS.

AND HAVING TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO PUT FOOD ON THE TABLE.

THAT'S A LOT OF TAKEN THAT I DO NOT FORGET.

THAT'S A LOT OF ANGER AS WE GO THROUGH, AND ALL I'M ASKING RIGHT NOW IS TO HAVE COMPASSION TOWARDS MY MEMBERS.

HAVE UNDERSTANDING AND BE KIND.

IF YOU CAN JUST SHARE THAT SENTIMENT IN THE PRACTICES THAT YOU DO EVERY DAY IT WILL GO A LONG WAY.

AND THAT'S WHAT I ASKED FOR ME TONIGHT.

I ALSO ASKED FOR THE CLASSIFIED STAFF TO HAVE COMPASSION FOR ONE ANOTHER.

HELP EACH OTHER OUT, DON'T BE THE ONES THAT PUT THEM IN THE GRAVE HELPED HIM.

[00:15:01]

HOW CAN I SUPPORT YOU? WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP YOU, WHAT RESOURCES CAN I PROVIDE TO YOU SO THAT YOU CAN BE SUCCESSFUL? AND THAT'S THE ENVIRONMENT YOU SHOULD BE IN RIGHT NOW.

AND THAT'S ALL I'M GOING TO SAY TONIGHT HAVE A GOOD EVENING.

>> THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

WE ARE GOING TO MOVE ON TO THE OPEN SESSION AGENDA.

[2.01 Institutional Presentation: Installation of 2022-2023 Student Trustee]

SHE LED THE WAY FOR THE DEPARTMENT TO ADOPT OPEN EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES, AND BEGAN MOVING TO DEVELOP NONCREDIT ONLINE INSTRUCTION WAY BEFORE THE PANDEMIC.

KNOWING THAT A LARGE SEGMENT OF THE ADULT LEARNERS COULD THRIVE ONLINE AND NEEDED THE FLEXIBILITY TO LEARN FROM HOME.

SHE ALSO WORKED CO FOR NONCREDIT TO CREDIT, PROOF THAT PROVIDES ALL DELL EDUCATION STUDENTS THROUGHOUT THE REGION WITH A STRONG BREEZE TO FURTHER THEIR EDUCATION, AND EARN CREDIT CERTIFICATES DEGREES AND TO TRANSFER.

SHE KNEW THAT GETTING REPRESENTATION, MEANT THAT THE NEEDS OF NONCREDIT STUDENTS WOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE IMPORTANT DECISION-MAKING ON CAMPUS.

AND ENSURE THAT THEY NOT REMAIN INVISIBLE.

I HAVE KNOWN MARTHA SINCE THE BEGINNING HERE SEVEN YEARS AGO, AND SHE HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT INCREDIBLY POLITE AND OBJECTIVE.

EVEN IN A COUPLE OF OCCASIONS WE DID NOT SEES THINGS THE SAME WAY.

SHE WAS A PERSON WHO WAS POLITE AND RESPECTFUL AND APPROPRIATE FACTS.

ONE TIME IN THE HIRING COMMITTEE WE HAD THE OPINIONS, AND AFTER SHE THOUGHT ABOUT IT SHE CAME BACK AND WE WERE ABLE TO MAKE A REALLY GREAT DECISION FROM AN ANGLE THAT WE DID NOT SEE TO BEGIN WITH, WITH COLLABORATION WE WERE ABLE TO DO IT.

SO I WANT TO EXPRESS MY GRATITUDE TO MARTHA AND THANKED HER FOR THE WORK THAT SHE HAS DONE FOR CERRITOS COLLEGE IN HER COMMITMENT.

AND THE STUDENT WHEN THEY LEFT, THEY ALWAYS TELL ME THAT YOU KNOW, THE HELP, THEY GOT FROM POPEYE DAVID IS SO MUCH, THEY MISS THEM.

SO I KNOW WE WILL MISS YOU DAVID.

BUT YOU KNOW, YOU HAVE A GOOD LIFE RIGHT NOW WE WILL LET YOU GO OKAY THANK YOU.

>> THANK YOU DOCTOR.

>> ALL RIGHT SO, NEXT WE HAVE DR. CHRISTOPHER, AT THE DEAN OF STUDENT SENSIBILITY SERVICE.

WILL GIVE A PRESENTATION FOR JUDY HOMELESS.

IS A PROFESSOR AND SPECIALIST.

>> GOOD EVENING EVERYONE, I AM GRATEFUL TO HAVE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE THE IMPACT THAT JUDY HOLMES HAS HAD ON

[00:55:03]

THE STUDENT ACCESSIBILITY SERVICE DEPARTMENT.

WITH STUDENTS AN YEARS OF SERVICE TO CERRITOS COLLEGE, JUDY'S TRAINING IN SOCIAL WORK AT CAL STATE UNIVERSITY LONG BEACH PROVIDER SKILLS TO SUPPORT STUDENTS WITH VARIOUS DISABILITIES INCLUDING THE ABILITY AND PSYCHOLOGICAL AND VISION AND MANY OTHERS.

THE NEWEST MEMBER, AND ESTEEM AND IT MIGHT SHORT TIME WHILE WORKING ALONGSIDE JUDY, WE'VE OBSERVED FIRST-HAND APPROACH.

SHE APPROACHES HER WORK WITH STUDENTS WITH GRACE AND WITH LOTS OF CARE, AND SHE UNDERSTANDS THE CONTEXTUAL WORLD OF STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES AND WHAT THEY MUST NAVIGATE BOTH ACADEMICALLY AND PERSONALLY.

SHE IS AN EDUCATOR IN PRACTICE, SHE UNDERSTANDS STUDENTS ARE EXPERTS IN THE IDENTITY OF THE INNER WORKINGS AND UNDERSTANDINGS OF THEIR OWN DISABILITIES, AND THEIR ABILITY TO NAVIGATE A WORLD THAT IS NOT OFTEN CREATED WITH THEM AT THE EPICENTER, AND SHE LEANS INTO REALITY TO TACKLE OBSTACLES OR STUDENTS MAY FACE IN THE ACADEMIC SETTING, SHE DOES THAT BY PROVIDING STUDENTS WITH ACCOMMODATIONS, WHICH NOT ONLY PROVIDE THEM ACCESS TO EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCES, BUT PRODUCES AN OPPORTUNITY TO THRIVE.

SHE IS HOLISTICALLY COMMITTED TO THE WORK THAT STUDENTS AND THE BELIEF THAT EDUCATORS EXIST TO UPLOAD STUDENTS TO TAP INTO THEIR STRENGTH.

THIS IS DEMONSTRATED WHEN SHE HOLISTICALLY ADDRESSES STUDENTS NEEDS ON OUR CAMPUS.

SHE CREATES A BLUEPRINT FOR THE NAVIGATION TO NAG YOU GET TH INTO OFF-CAMPUS RESOURCES, TO EXPLORE CAREER OPPORTUNITIES AND TO TRANSFER TO FOUR-YEAR INSTITUTIONS AND TO SUCCEED IN WHATEVER WAY A STUDENT HAS TO FIND SUCCESS FOR THEMSELVES.

SO JUDY HAS EXPRESSED OUT WHAT SHE HAS ENJOYED WORKING SO MANY TALENTED PEOPLE AT CERRITOS COLLEGE.

HOW SHE WILL MISS THOSE RELATIONSHIPS THAT SHE HAS DEVELOPED OVER TIME WITH 22 YEARS OF THE CAMPUS.

SHE IS STRONGLY ADVOCATED FOR STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES TO VARIOUS COMMITTEES HERE IS CERRITOS.

PROFESSIONAL ENGAGEMENT WITH DISABILITY ORGANIZATIONS AND WORK THROUGH ADVOCACY APICES.

I'M SURE I CAN SPEAK FOR OUR TEAM WHEN I SAY THAT JUDY HAS MADE A SIGNIFICANT IMPACT ON ALL OF US BY CONTINUOUSLY DEMONSTRATING WHAT IT MEANS TO BE AN EDUCATOR.

ALSO REMINDING US OF THE CORE AND WORK AND WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO.

SO JUDY IS LOOKING FORWARD TO A NEW ENDEAVORS, I ASKED HER TO SEND ME SORT OF THE THINGS THAT SHE IS LOOKING FORWARD TO AND I HAVE OPPORTUNITIES TO MEET WITH HER ONE ON ONE.

I LEARNED A LOT FROM JUDY IN THE PAST EIGHT MONTHS THAT I'VE BEEN AT CERRITOS.

SHE IS REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO SPENDING TIME WITH THE FAMILY AND HER HUSBAND, AND WORKING ON COMPLETING THE RESTORATION OF A 1959 CADILLAC SEDAN DEVILLE, SHE LOOKS FORWARD TO VOLUNTEERING IN PAINTING AND HOW TO PLAY THE UKULELE.

IF YOU WILL HAVE A CHANCE TO MEET JUDY SHE HAS A WONDERFUL SE WITH AND VERY PASSIONATE, SHE HAS STRONG ENERGY AND SHE'S COMPASSIONATE AND COMMITTED TO WORKING WITH STUDENTS AND STAFF IN THE COLLEGE.

I THINK JUDY FOR HER TIME, THE TEAM THANKS HER FOR HER TIME AND COMMITMENT, AND WE WILL MISS YOU GREATLY.

SO THANK YOU FOR BEING HERE TODAY AS WELL.

>> THANK YOU I THINK JUDY IS HERE? JUDY CAN YOU SAY SOMETHING?

>>

>> SOMETIMES TECHNOLOGY IS NOT MY THING.

CAN YOU HEAR ME YES?

>> YES WE CAN.

WHILE I'VE HAD A GREAT RUN WITH CERRITOS COLLEGE I'VE BEEN WITH THEM FOR 22 YEARS AND I WAS IN THE OTHER WORLD IN REAL LIFE.

AND I TRULY HAVE ENJOYED THIS JOURNEY.

AND I LOVE MY FAMILY AND ALL OF THE DIFFERENT FOLKS THAT I HAVE GOT TO KNOW ON CAMPUS WHICH IS PRETTY MUCH ALL OF YOU.

FACULTY AND STAFF AND CLASSIFIED, MAYBE NOT THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES BUT MANY OF THE OTHER PEOPLE ON CAMPUS THAT I KNOW, AND I'M GOING TO MISS EVERYBODY.

BUT I INTEND TO COME BACK AND SUPPORT THE CULINARY ARTS.

IT ALSO ATTEND THE DIFFERENT THEATER ACTIVITIES AND ALL THOSE KINDS OF THINGS AND WOODWORKING AND ALL OF MY SPECIAL PLACES THAT I LOVE.

THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR WORDS CHRISTOPHER, I LOVE WORKING FOR YOU, I AM SO GLAD I AM LEAVING EVERYTHING IN GREAT HANDS WITH YOU CHRIS.

AND I CAN GO AWAY AND NOT WORRY.

SO THAT WAS THE KEY THING THAT I KNOW SOMEBODY WAS THERE AT THE HOME THAT WOULD BE GOOD.

SO, YES, I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO THE FUTURE.

SO THANK YOU I WILL KEEP IT SHORT OF YOU ALL AND THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THIS RIDE WAS A GREAT ONE.

THANK YOU GUYS.

BYE.

[01:00:01]

>> WE ARE GOING TO MOVE ON THANK YOU FOR ALL OF THE YOU KNOW RETIREES, THANK YOU FOR ALL OF THAT YOU SPENT SO MUCH TIME IN THE COLLEGE INSOMUCH CONTRIBUTION.

AND WE ARE GOING TO MOVE INSTITUTIONAL PRESENTATION, COVID-19 CAMPUS

[2.04 Institutional Presentation: COVID-19 Campus Safety Protocols Update]

SAFETY PROTOCOL UPDATE.

>> THANK YOU DOCTOR, SO I GUESS I WILL KEEP THEM BRIEF SINCE WILL PROBABLY HAVE A LARGER DISCUSSION DOWN THE AGENDA.

BUT, RIGHT NOW I HAVE GONE BACK TO MY REGULAR MONITORING OF THE NUMBERS OF COVID-19.

IT IS STILL, SOMEWHERE AROUND SOMETIMES 3000 LOW FOR THOUSANDS.

ON THE DAILY POSITIVES IN THE COUNTY, HOWEVER POSITIVITY RATES CONTINUE BETWEEN THREE-4% WHICH IN REALITY IS NOT AS HIGH AS IT USED TO BE WHEN WE WERE IN THE HIGH OF THE PANDEMIC.

AS I CONTINUE TO SORT THROUGH INFORMATION, AND READ REPORTS OFTEN TIMES CONTRADICTORY, IT SEEMS IT IS IMPORTANT TO CONTINUE TO TAKE SOME LEVELS OF PRECAUTIONS PARTICULARLY IN CLOSED-DOOR EVENTS, HIGH-CAPACITY ROOMS, VACCINATIONS CONTINUE TO BE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, AND ENCOURAGE.

WH IS LOOKING AT THE FUTURE DEVE VACCINATIONS, IT SEEMS THEIR VACCINE MANUFACTURERS ARE TRYING TO RELEASE A NEW VERSION OF THE VACCINE PROBABLY FOR THE LATE SUMMER OR FALL, BUT I SEE THESE PARTICULAR VARIATIONS OF THE VACCINE.

IT WILL HAVE A STRONGER PROTECTION TO ALL SO OBVIOUSLY I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO THAT.

I CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE THE SITUATION.

SOMETHING ELSE TO KEEP IN MIND IS THERE ARE REPORTS AND SOME OF THE DATA IS STARTING TO SUGGEST THAT THE CURRENT RAPID TESTS AND NOT AS EFFECTIVE AS THEY USED TO BE, BASED ON THE CHANGES TO OMICRON.

SO OFTEN TIMES THEY ARE NEGATIVE BUT RAPID TESTS AND SECOND TIME EVENTUALLY THE TEST BACK POSITIVE.

SO IT IS IMPORTANT TO TEST AND TO BE CONSISTENT IF YOU ARE NOT FEELING QUITE WELL OR SOMETHING IS NOT FEELING QUITE RIGHT.

EVEN IF IT IS NEGATIVE.

OBVIOUSLY IF YOU TEST NEGATIVE IN IS NO FEELING GREAT, OBVIOUSLY A LOT MORE ACCURATE.

ANOTHER PART OF THE REPORT, HAS TO DO WITH MASKED MANDATES.

SO WE HAVEN'T OPTIONAL POLICY ON CAMPUS AT THIS PARTICULAR TIME, AND WHAT WE HAVE BEEN ASKING EVERYONE IS TO PLEASE RESPECT EVERYONE'S PREFERENCES, WHEN THEY CHOOSE TO WEAR A MASK OR NOT.

ONE OF THE REPORTS THAT I WAS TRYING TO LOOK AT SOME OF THE DATA AND MASS WEARING VERSUS NOT, IT HAS TO DO WITH THE MASS MANDATE VERSUS WANTING TO WEAR A MASK, MEANING IF A MASK MA BECAUSE A LOT OF INDIVIDUALS WILL ONLY WEAR THE MASK, BECAUSE THEY ARE FORCED TO WEAR A MASK.

THEY'RE NOT WEARING IT APPROPRIATELY OR IT IS NOT A MASK THAT ACTUALLY IS PROTECTIVE AND SO ON AND SO FORTH.

WEARING YOUR MASK PROPERLY HAS A HIGH PROTECTION RATE, OBVIOUSLY AND I THINK GOING FORWARD THAT'S WHAT WE ARE GOING TO SEE SOME OF THE DEBATES REGARDING MANDATES OR NOT.

I DO NOT ANTICIPATE SIGNIFICANT CHANGES COMING FROM THE PUBLIC HEALTH DEPARTMENT IN THE NEXT MONTH OR SO.

I'LL RECEIVE MULTIPLE REASONS FOR THE POLITICAL ENVIRONMENT, AND THE SUMMER AT THIS IS THE FIRST SUMMER THAT MOST OF US IN THE

[01:05:01]

LAST THREE YEARS AND TWO AND HALF YEARS HAVE BEEN ABLE TO ROAM AROUND WITHOUT MANY RESTRICTIONS.

SO I DON'T ANTICIPATE TRYING BACK.

HOWEVER WE NEED TO KEEP AN EYE FOR THE FULL SEMESTER AND BE READY TO REACT AND SHIFT BASED ON THE CHANGES ON THE PUBLIC CONDITIONS.

AND WE WILL SAVE THE REST THE COMMENTS FOR THE ITEM ON 2205.

IN A BE HAPPY TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS.

>> DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS? ALL RIGHT WE ARE GOING TO MOVE ON TO THE CONSENT ITEMS FROM 3.01, THROUGH

[3. Consent Items]

3.21, ANY OF THE TRUSTEES WANT TO DISCUSS? ANY OF THESE ITEMS?

>> YES, I WOULD LIKE TO PULL ITEM 3.17 EMPLOYMENT A FULL-TIME FIRST YEAR CONTRACT.

>> THROUGH 3.16 AND 3.18 THROUGH 3.21.

SO ANYONE A MOTION TO APPROVE IT.

>> SO MOVED.

>> I WILL SECOND.

>> PLEASE DO THE ROLL CALL.

>> THE MOTION PASSES.

>> OKAY TRUSTEE PARIS FOR 3.17.

>> THANK YOU VERY MUCH COLLEGE, IF DR. FIERRO COULD GIVE US A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF THE HIRING PROCESS OF THE NEW FACULTY

[3.17 Employment of Full-Time, First-Year Contract (Probationary) Faculty]

MEMBERS.

AND TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE RECRUITMENT, AND THE HIRING AND I AM CURIOUS ABOUT THE HIRING I'M SORRY THE APPLICANT POOL? IF YOU COULD TELL US ABOUT THAT FOR EACH ONE OF THEM, AND GO FROM THERE.

I HAVE OTHER QUESTIONS AFTER THAT.

>> LET ME SEE.

COULD I REQUEST TO CONTINUE THE TO THE NEXT ITEM, WHILE I PULL MY COMPUTER I CAN UPHOLD REPORT FOR MY COMPUTER.

SO, AND I WILL COME BACK IN 2 MINUTES WHEN I PULL IT.

>> THANK YOU.

>> SHOULD I MOVE ON TO 4.01? OKAY, SO INFORMATION ITEMS.

[4.01 Associated Students Cerritos College (ASCC) Financial Report for the Period Ending March 31, 2022]

ASSOCIATED STUDENTS TO READ A COLLEGE FINANCIAL REPORT FOR THE PERIOD ENDING MARCH 31, 2022.

WHO IS GOING TO DO THE REPORT? NO?

>> JUST INFORMATION RIGHT? ALL RIGHT, SO WE JUST RECEIVED.

OKAY, WE DON'T NEED TO VOTE OKAY.

ALL RIGHT, SO RECEIVING THE FILE.

AND WE WILL MOVE ON TO NUMBER FIVE, IS

[5.01 Requested by Trustee Lewis: Board Policy 2905 - SARS CoV-2 (COVID-19) Vaccination and Testing Requirement]

ADMINISTRATIVE ITEMS, 5.01 REQUESTED BY TRUSTEE LEWIS.

IN WE ARE GOING TO BOARD POLICY 2905, IN SARS COVID-19 VACCINATION AND TESTING REQUIREMENTS.

OKAY, SO TRUSTEE LEWIS.

>> SO I SUPPOSE ONCE DR. FIERRO GETS BACK I CAN GET THE QUESTIONS ANSWERED BY.

YOU KNOW WE HAVE HAD SOME ISSUES WITH OUR SOME OF OUR EMPLOYEES HAVE MADE NOTE ABOUT THE ENCUMBRANCES THAT THE CURRENT POLICY CONTINUES TO HAVE IN WE HAVE RELAXED IN THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS OF WHAT WE CAN DO TO CONTINUE TO RELAX THAT POLICY TO ALLOW FOR A MORE

[01:10:05]

EFFICIENT ADMINISTRATION OF THE DUTIES OF SOME OF THESE EMPLOYEES HAVE TO DO.

AND I CAN KEEP TALKING, AND DISCUSS THINGS UNTIL DR. FIERRO RETURNS.

OR IF ONE OF THE VPS WOULD LIKE TO ANSWER THAT NO OBLIGATION TO DO SO.

I'M HERE TAKE A LOOK AT.

THAT'S FINE TO WORRY ABOUT.

WE WILL TAKE A SUPPOSE WILL TAKE A SHORT BREAK IN THE MEANTIME.

MAYBE WE WILL POSTPONE THIS ITEM UNTIL DR. FIERRO RETURNS, AND SOME OF THE OTHER AGENDA ITEMS.

>> SO THE NEXT ONE WILL REVIEW THE REPORT AND COMMENTS.

WE NEED TO WAIT FOR DR. FIERRO.

>> 'S WHO IS GOING TO SING AND DANCE?

>> SO I AM BACK, AND I WANT TO YOU KNOW, I WAS GOING TO DO SO IT A FILIBUSTER.

NO, I THINK IT IS AMAZING, TO HAVE REALLY GREAT PEOPLE THAT YOU WORK WITH.

PEOPLE THAT ARE REALLY UNABLE TO DO YOU KNOW THINGS WHEN YOU LEAST EXPECT IT.

SO AS I WAS GOING TO THE OFFICE I RECEIVED A TEXT FROM SOMEONE HERE, AND EMPHYSEMA ELSEWHERE AND IT SAID I AM WATCHING, AVAILABLE WHAT YOU NEED? SO NANCY, WHO IS THE HR DIRECTOR.

SHE WAS READY, WATCHING THE BOARD MEETING, AND AS SOON AS THE QUESTION THEY WERE READY TO JUMP IN.

AND ANSWER THE QUESTIONS OF RECEIPT WITH A LOT MORE DETAIL THAN I COULD, I WANT TO SAY HOW GREAT IT IS TO WORK WITH PEOPLE THAT ARE ALWAYS READY AND WILLING TO GO ABOVE AND BEYOND, I DON'T KNOW WHAT NANCY DOES IN THE BOARD MEETINGS WHEN SHE'S AT HOME.

I TRULY APPRECIATE YOU NANCY SO THANK YOU.

SO I DON'T KNOW IF NANCY IS IN THERE, BUT SHE IS LOGGING IN, AND SHE HAS ACCESS TO THE APPLICANT POOL.

SO I ASKED HER TO DO WHEN SHE LOGS IN, IS TO KINDA GIVE YOU A RUNDOWN OF APPLICANTS, TOTAL NUMBER OF APPLICANTS AND THE POSITIONS THAT ARE THERE.

AND DESCRIBE A LITTLE BIT OF THE HIRING PROCESS JUST TO GIVE YOU 30,000 FOOT OVERVIEW, THE HIRING PROCESS BEGINS WELL BEFORE THE CANDIDATES ARE SELECTED.

SO THAT BEGINS WITH THE SELECTION OF THE FACULTY TO BE HIRED, TO BE DONE TO THE FACU PRIORITIZATION PROCESS.

THAT IS FACULTY SENATE DRAWN PROCESS.

THAT AS COMMITTEE MEMBERS, EQUAL NU SENATE AND AN E PRESENTATIONS BY THE DEANS OF THE DEPARTMENTS AND POSITIONS ACCORDING TO THE SCALE THAT WAS JOINTLY DEVELOPED A COUPLE YEARS AGO BY MEMBERS OF THE SENATE, AND DEANS.

AFTER THAT EACH DEPARTMENT IS ASKED TO SUBMIT THEIR REPRESENTATIVES FOR THE SELECTION COMMITTEE, THAT IS GUIDELINES TO HOW MANY MEMBERS OF EACH DEPARTMENT TO PARTICIPATE IN EACH SELECTION COMMITTEE WHAT IS FACULTY CLASSIFIED ADMINISTRATORS, VICE PRESIDENTS AND PRESIDENTS AND EVERYONE HAS A SPECIFIC NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS.

BUT AFTER OF RECEIPT WITH THE PUBLISHING, ALL OF THE SCREENING AND THE SELECTIONS HAPPEN AT THE COMMITTEE LEVEL, WHICH HAS REPRESENTATIVES OF ALL GROUPS CLASSIFIED FACULTY, ADMI CONFIDENTIAL'S, AND AT THE END OF THE PROC APPLICANTS AT MOST CASES.

BUT THESE TIME AROUND, THE COMMITTEES HAVE BEEN SO RICH AND COMPETITIVE, MEANING A LOT OF PEOPLE WANT TO WORK AT CERRITOS COLLEGE.

THAT WE HAVE HAD FOR AND I'VE HAD A REQUEST OF INTERVIEWING FIVE PEOPLE.

BECAUSE THE POOLS ARE SO RICH.

THEY ARE INCREDIBLY COMPETITIVE.

SO I WILL CHECK IF NANCY IS HERE, AND AGAIN NANCY THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

I APPRECIATE

[01:15:01]

YOU BEING HERE TONIGHT WITH US.

>> SHE IS MUTED.

>> CAN YOU HEAR ME NANCY? I GUESS SHE CANNOT HEAR US.

>> WHY YOU'RE TRYING TO FIGURE OUT NANCY, OUR STUDENTS ON HIRING COMMITTEES?

>> STUDENTS ARE ON HIRING COMMITTEES FOR ADMINISTRATION BUT I DO NOT BELIEVE AT THIS TIME THE STUDENTS ARE AT THE HIRING COMMITTEES FOR FACULTY.

>> OKAY I WILL START THERE.

I WAS TAUGHT AND PREACH ON THIS VERSE.

I KNOW WE HAVE ALL HEARD

>> THANK YOU, FOR THAT, AND I WILL DO MY BEST TO ANSWER ALL OF THE QUESTIONS AND HOPEFULLY THERE IS NOT TOO MUCH GOING ON FOR ME.

>> NANCY COULD YOU BEGIN BY KINDLY GIVE US A BREAKDOWN OF HOW MANY APPLICANTS WE HAVE FOR THE POSITIONS WE ARE HIRING? YOU COULD PROBABLY TURN OFF THE LIVE STREAM BECAUSE WE ARE GETTING AN ECHO LIKE A FEEDBACK FROM YOUR LIFESTREAM, AND THE ZOOM MICROPHONE THAT YOU'RE USING.

>> FOR ALL OF THE POSITIONS? IS THERE A PARTICULAR WANT TO START AT?

>> LET'S GO AHEAD AND START WITH ENGLISH AND WILL MAKE AWAY FROM THERE.

>> I TURNED OFF THE LIVE STREAM, BUT NOW I DO NOT HEAR ANYTHING.

>> CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW? CAN YOU HEAR US NOW?

>> OKAY YES,

>> WE CAN HEAR YOU, SO I THINK THE FIRST ONE HAVE LISTED HERE IS DENTAL HYGIENIST, YOU CAN DO DENTAL HYGIENIST AND IN SPANISH AND ENGLISH AND THEN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION.

AND WE APPLICANTS IN EACH.

>> NUMBER OF APPLICANTS FOR EACH, JUST A MINUTE, I'M GOING TO TURN UP MY SOUND BECAUSE MY DOG IS ACTIVE.

AND LET ME PULL ALL THE INFORMATION UP AND I WILL COME RIGHT BACK.

>> THANK YOU.

>> I WILL GO BACK TO IT, I KNOW ALL OF US HAVE HEARD DR.

FRANK HARRISON VICE PRESIDENT MIRANDA COMPLICATIONS AGO.

ONE OF THE THINGS THEY TALK ABOUT IS OF COURSE DIVERSITY IN HIRING.

AND ONE OF THE KEY RECOMMENDATIONS WHICH AGAIN, I WILL CONTINUE TO TALK ABOUT EVERY OPPORTUNITY I HAVE.

GIVEN EVERYBODY FAIR WARNING, THAT WE NEED TO DO MORE.

WE NEED TO DO BETTER AND WHILE WE ARE DOING IT AND MAKING GREAT PROGRESS UNDER DR. FIERRO LEADERSHIP.

ONE OF THE KEY RECOMMENDATIONS IS ACTUALLY HAVING STUDENTS ON THE HIRING COMMITTEES FOR FACULTY.

SO THAT IS SOMETHING THAT I WOULD LIKE DR. FIERRO TO LOOK AT.

I AM GLAD WE ARE DOING IT FOR ADMINISTRATORS IT SEEMS LIKE ADMINISTRATORS, BUT I THINK IT IS IMPORTANT THAT THE FACULTY MEMBERS WHO ARE TEACHING THEIR STUDENTS, ALSO SHOULD HAVE FEEDBACK FROM STUDENTS.

AND THE OTHER THING WHICH I KNOW IS QUITE CONTROVERSIAL.

BUT I WILL KEEP THROWING IT OUT THERE, IS PAYING OUR STUDENTS TO BE ON THESE HIRING COMMITTEES.

BECAUSE DURING THE FIRST TWO YEARS I WAS HERE, I GOT TO OBSERVE ON THE HIRING COMMITTEE FOR WHATEVER EMPLOYEES AND IT TOOK A LONG TIME AND A LOT OF HOURS.

I WENT THERE BECAUSE I WAS TRYING TO A GREATER LEVEL OF COMFORT.

BUT I WANT TO SAY IT PROBABLY TOOK BETWEEN TEN AND 12 HOURS OF MY TIME FOR ONE POSITION.

AND FOR OUR STUDENTS, TO BE ABLE TO TAKE THAT AMOUNT OF TIME, IS A COST FOR THEM.

IT IS A CONSTANT THEY ARE NOT IN CLASS STUDYING, IS A TIME THAT THEY ARE NOT WORKING, OR BEING WITH THE FAMILY.

SO THAT WOULD BE ONE OF THE KEY THINGS THAT I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE DR. FIERRO REPORT BACK IS INCLUDING STUDENTS ON HIRING

[01:20:04]

COMMITTEES FOR EVERY FACULTY MEMBER MOVING FORWARD.

AND WHAT CAN WE DO TO PAY THEM FOR THEIR TIME?

>> THANK YOU TRUST TO PROGRESS FOR THAT.

AND I HAVE A SOLUTION AT LEAST ONE OF THE TWO, SO THAT IS 50%.

WE ARE CURRENTLY PAYING STUDENTS TO SERVE IN THE COMMITTEES WE JUST BEGAN THAT ON DECEMBER 21.

IN 2021, I MEAN.

WE ARE HOPING TO CONTINUE TO DO THAT.

RIGHT NOW, THE STUDENTS SERVICE FEES ARE COVERED, THE STUDENTS ARE CODED IN THE PRESENTATION FEE.

BUT OBVIOUSLY WE WILL NOW THAT YOU MENTIONED THE WORKFLOW, WE WILL ACTUALLY LOOK AT THE AMOUNT OF HOURS AND LOOK IF THERE IS ANY BALANCE THAT NEEDS TO BE THERE.

BUT WE HAD JUST BEGAN CODING THE COST OF THE STUDENTS AND COMMITTEES PARTICULAR FOR MANAGERS.

BECAUSE WE HAVE HAD AN INCREDIBLE NUMBER OF APPLICANTS WHO WILL SAY 90% OF OUR POOLS THEY ARE REQUIRED A LOT OF SORTING JUST TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE ELSE.

THEY SAID WE HAD A HUNDRED 97 APPLICANTS FOR ENGLISH.

SO THAT SHOWS THAT THERE IS AN INCREDIBLE DESIRE TO BE PART OF CERRITOS COLLEGE.

AND AT LEAST FROM MY PERSPECTIVE, THE CANDIDATES THAT I'VE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO INTERVIEW, HAVE BEEN TOP-NOTCH, THE DISCUSSION IS NOT HEY, SHOULD WE HIRE SOMEONE FROM THE POOL OR SHOULD WE CANCEL? IT HAS BEEN EVERY SINGLE TIME, HOW CAN WE PEAK BETWEEN THESE THREE THAT ARE REALLY GREAT.

>> I THINK THAT'S WONDERFUL IT SAYS A LOT ABOUT CERRITOS COLLEGE AND A LOT ABOUT THE WORK YEAR.

IT IS TO BE ABLE TO HAVE 200 APPLICANTS FOR SOMETHING LIKE ENGLISH.

I THINK THAT SAYS A LOT THAT IS GOOD AND I'M PLEASED TO HEAR THAT.

AND AGAIN, I THINK IT IS A REALLY GOOD PLACE TO WORK, I THINK PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THAT THAT'S WHY WE HAVE SO MANY PEOPLE APPLYING, AND I THINK IT IS YOU KNOW AGAIN BEING ABLE TO WORK WITH STUDENTS IS REALLY WONDERFUL OPPORTUNITY.

THE OTHER BIG QUESTION BEFORE WE GO BACK TO THE POLLS, IS SOMETHING THAT WE WERE TALKING ABOUT IS.

HOW DO WE INCORPORATE AS PART OF THE I GUESS AS PART OF THE APPLICANT PROCESS, HOW COMFORTABLE AND KNOWLEDGEABLE HOW WELL VERSED THEY ARE IN WORKING WITH DIVERSE POPULATIONS.

BECAUSE THAT IS ANOTHER BIG AREA THAT WE HAVE BEEN TALKING A LOT AT THE STATE LEVEL, WITH THE CHANCELLOR'S OFFICE.

IS MAKING SURE THAT OUR FACULTY MEMBERS HAVE EXPERIENCE WORK POPULATIONS.

SO HOW IS THAT INCLUDED AS PART OF THE EVALUATION PROCESS NOW.

>> PART OF A MANAGER'S EVALUATION.

IT IS NOT YET PART OF THE FACULTY EVALUATION.

OBVIOUSLY, THEY HAVE SOME DISCUSSIONS AT THE STATE LEVEL, AND SOME CHANGES IN TITLE FIVE, I'M NOT TELLING YOU ANYTHING THAT YOU HEAR, BUT WE HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY FEEDBACK YET FROM FROM OUR FACULTY, I THINK LAST TIME THAT WE TALKED A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THIS MAYBE A MONTH OR TWO AGO.

THE PRESIDENT CCF FF, AND FACULTY SENATE, RESPECTIVELY WORK TO LOOK AT SOME OF THE CHANGES, TO PROVIDE SOME FEEDBACK BUT I DON'T HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO TALK TO THEM ABOUT THAT.

>> OKAY SO I WAS GOING TO MENTION THAT IN MY BOARD COMMENTS, BUT I WILL ADD THAT THERE.

WE HAVE A STUDY SESSION ON AUGUST 17, AND THERE ARE THREE ITEMS THAT I WANT TO INCLUDE.

AND THAT IS THE SECOND REQUEST THAT I HAD WOULD BE ABLE TO HEAR FROM OUR FACULTY SENATE, ON TWO THINGS.

ONE, WAS THE YOU MENTION, THE TITLE FIVE REGULATION ON EMPLOYEE EVALUATION AND TENURE REVIEW.

AGAIN THAT IS ANOTHER AREA THAT THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS PASSED ON MAY 23.

SO THAT WOULD BE PART OF THEIR EVALUATION RIGHT? AND THE TENURE REVIEW, SO THAT IS ALREADY AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN HIGHER, AND THEY'RE GOING FROM A PROBATIONARY RIGHT TO FULL TIME.

THAT IS ONE PART.

THE SECOND PART BEFORE THAT, IS ACTUALLY IN THE SCREENING AND HIRING SO WHEN IT IS AT THE FACULTY LEVEL, BEFORE IT GE WHAT WE CAN DO TO ADDRESS THAT QUESTION? HOW COMFORTABLE ARE THESE POTENTIAL EMPLOYEES IN WORKING WITH DIVERSE POPULATIONS.

I DO NOT KNOW WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE, I KNOW THAT THERE IS A FACULTY PROCESS OF THIS THAT'S WHY I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM OUR FACULTY LEADERS, ON AUGUST 17 THAT GIVES YOU SPECIFIC ISSUES.

>> I HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF INFORMATION ON THAT, RIGHT NOW, IN

[01:25:01]

THE PRESCREENING PROCESS THERE ARE QUESTIONS, RELATED TO DIVERSITY AND WORKING WITH DIVERSE POPULATIONS, AND WHEN THEY GET TO THE FINAL INTERVIEW, WE HAVE BUILT A NUMBER OF SCENARIO QUESTIONS, WHICH MORE QUESTIONS OF ANALYSIS ON HOW YOU INTERACT WITH THE STUDENTS AND HOW YOU INTERACT AND UNDERSTAND THE COMMUNITIES THAT WE SERVE SO THEY ARE NOT NECESSARILY QUESTIONS, THAT YOU CAN ANSWER, THIS IS DIVERSITY AND THIS IS INCLUSION, THIS IS MORE ABOUT THE PRACTICAL KNOWLEDGE AND APPLICATIONS SO WE HAVE A SERIES OF QUES INTERVIEWS.

AND WE USE A VARIATION OF THOSE QUESTIONS.

FOR ALL HIRES, AT LEAST TO COME THROUGH MY OFFICE.

SO MANAGERS AND FACULTY, IN THE FINAL ROUND, I HAVE A SERIES OF APPLICATION QUESTIONS, THAT NOT ONLY SAYS THE LEVEL OF COMFORT IN UNDERSTANDING OF THE STUDENT POPULATION.

BUT THE COMMUNITIES THAT SERVE THE QUESTIONS ARE VERY SPECIFIC TO THE COMMUNITIES THAT WE SERVE.

>> CAN I ASK A QUESTION?

>> YES, MA'AM.

>> I WANT TO ASK YOU, WHAT IS THE QUALIFICATION, HOW DO YOU YOU KNOW THE FOR THE STUDENT TO BE IN THE HIRING COMMITTEE? BECAUSE I AM A PROFESSOR I AM ALSO ALL THE TIME IN THE HIRING COMMITTEE.

FOR HIRING A PROFESSOR, THE PROFESSORS NEED TO DO THE TEACHER PRESENTATION.

THEY ALSO NEED TO ANSWER A LOT OF QUESTIONS INVOLVING SUBJECT.

FOR EXAMPLE, IF WE HIRE A COMPUTER SCIENCE PROFESSOR, THE PROFESSOR NEEDS TO ANSWER A LOT OF SUBJECTS ABOUT THE STRUCTURE, ABOUT PROGRAMMING, SO I WANT TO KNOW THAT, IF YOU HAVE A STUDENT, WHO DO NOT KNOW THE SUBJECTS, THE STUDENT IN THE HIRING COMMITTEE, THAT WILL BE NOT FAIR, FOR THE YOU KNOW THE SUBJECT MATTER.

BUT, I MEAN, IT IS GREAT, TO HAVE STUDENT INVOLVEMENT IN HIRING.

BUT WE DO NOT WANT THE ONE BEING THE HIRING.

THEY DO NOT KNOW THE SUBJECT.

JUST THINK THE PROFESSOR BY HOW DOES THE PROFESSOR LOOK? ENTHUSIASM OR SOMETHING? AND MISS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART IT IS A SUBJECT MATTER.

BECAUSE THE FACULTY OF FACULTY TO HAVE THE CONTENT OF TEACH.

THAT IS MY QUESTION, HOW ARE YOU GOING TO DO THAT WITH STUDENTS?

>> RIGHT NOW OBVIOUSLY WE DON'T HAVE THEM MANDATORY FOR FACULTY EVALUATIONS.

IT IS ONLY BEEN AN OPTION BUT I DON'T BELIEVE IN THE RECENT INTERVIEWS THAT WE HAVE HAD STUDENTS IN THOSE COMMITTEES TO MY KNOWLEDGE.

HOWEVER, I HAVE TO SA WITH A COUPLE OF THE STUDENT REPRESENTATIVES, AND AT SOME OF THE SEARCHES, THEY ARE VERY MUCH AWARE OF THEIR LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE OF THE POSITION THAT THEY ARE SCREENING SO FOR INSTANCE, WE RECENTLY RECEIVED A REQUEST FOR THE STUDENT WHO WAS PART OF ONE OF OUR RECENT VICE PRESIDENT SEARCHES.

I SAID LISTEN, I AM DOING MY BEST TO PARTICIPATE IN THESE, I AM TRYING TO LEARN WHAT I HAVE TO DO, AND I DO NOT WANT TO PROV INFORMATION.

SO WHAT I WILL ASKED TO REQUEST GOING FORWARD, IS AS WE HAVE SELECTED, WE ARE GIVEN A BRIEFING AND AN UNDERSTANDING OF LOTS AN IDEAL CANDIDATE COULD LOOK LIKE, SO WE CAN MAKE BETTER INFORMED DECISIONS.

I THINK THAT IS INCREDIBLY THOUGHTFUL BY THE STUDENTS, BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT JUST SIMPLY MAKING DECISIONS FOR THEIR MAKEUP DECISIONS.

THEY WERE TAKING THE TIME TO UNDERSTAND WHAT THESE POSITIONS WILL LOOK LIKE, AND THEN RELY SEEING THAT THEY DON'T HAVE THE ENTIRE BACKGROUND TO DO THAT AND THE REQUEST.

THAT THAT WOULD BE SOMETHING THAT WE DO GOING FORWARD IN WHICH WE KIND OF GIVE THEM A LITTLE BIT OF BACKGROUND, AND KNOWLEDGE AS TO WHAT THIS IS SOMETHING THAT THEY SHOULD BE LOOKING FOR.

I MEAN, I DON'T THINK PEOPLE, WHEN THEY ARE GROWING UP THEY SAID I WANT TO GROW UP I WILL BECOME VICE PRESIDENT OF HUMAN RESOURCES, THEY PROBABLY DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT THAT IS? MO INTERACTION, WILL TRULY UNDERSTAND WHAT THAT JOB ENTAILS, HOWEVER THE STUDENTS ARE BECOMING MORE THOUGHTFUL IN THAT REGARD AND ASKING FOR SOME SORT OF TRAINING, WHICH WE OBVIOUSLY DISCUSSED AND WE WILL CONTINUE TO LISTEN, SO WE CAN DO THAT AS WE MOVE FORWARD.

[01:30:02]

TO PROVIDE THAT SUPPORT FOR THE STUDENTS TO MAKE SMART DECISIONS.

IN ARGOSY FOR THE COMM COMFORTABLE SHARING AND INTERACTING WITH OTHER STUDENTS IN THE PROCESS.

>> THE TRAINING INCLUDING THE CONTENT THE SUBJECT CONTENT?

>> NO, I DO NOT KNOW EXACTLY WHAT IT IS BECAUSE RIGHT NOW OBVIOUSLY WE HAD DON'T KNOW AT THE STUDENTS AND FACULTY SEARCHES.

I'M TALKING ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE HAVING THE STUD ADMINISTRATIVE SEARCHES.

THEY ARE VERY THOU DECISION-MAKING, AND THEY ASK QUESTIONS WHEN THEY DON'T NECESSARILY KNOW WHERE TO GO.

SO I GUESS WHAT I'M TRYING TO SAY, THERE JOB IS VERY SERIOUS.

>> THANK YOU SO MUCH THANK YOU.

>> I THINK NANCY IS PROBABLY WAITING.

>> GO ON NANCY.

>> THAT IS OKAY, I WOULD LIKE TO ADD THAT HR HAS BEEN DEVELOPING A BANK OF QUESTIONS FOR THE DIVERSITY QUESTIONS TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY ARE NOT JUST TOO GENERIC, BUT MORE HOW HAVE YOU ACTUALLY INTERACTED AND GIVE SOME EXAMPLES, NOT JUST WHAT DOES DIA MEAN TO YOU.

AND WE TRIED TO BE MORE TH TALKED THROUGH A LOT OF THE ISSUES AND HOW CAN WE MAKE THIS MORE RELEVANT, SO IT IS NOT JUST REAL GENERIC, DESPERATE.

THE OTHER THING THAT I WOULD LIKE TO SAY IS THAT THE STUDENTS WHO HAVE BEEN ON THE MANAGING COMMITTEES, HAVE BEEN RELATED IN THE FIELDS.

SO THAT THEY ARE ABLE TO HAVE A PERSPECTIVE AND THEY ARE ASKING WONDERFUL QUESTIONS ABOUT HELPING ME UNDERSTAND WHAT I NEED TO LOOK FOR.

WE HAVE BEEN ENCOURAGING WORKING WITH MONITORS TO ENSURE THAT THE COMMITTEES ARE ALL LOOKING AT BENCHMARKING, AND NORMING FACTORS, SO WHAT DOES IT MEAN IF SOMEBODY HAS XYZ AS PART OF THEIR BACKGROUND? HOW WILL WE EVALUATE THAT AND GIVE WEIGHT TO IT SO IT IS NOT RANDOM.

THAT THERE IS MORE MATRIX DEVELOPMENT, AND THE PROCESS.

WE STILL HAVE A WAYS TO GO, BUT WE HAVE DEFINITELY BEEN MAKING SOME PROGRESS ON THAT.

I BELIEVE THE QUESTION WAS HOW MANY APPLICANTS? HAVE WE HAD IN THE POOL? AND THOSE HAVE VARIED.

SOME OF THAT IS DRIVEN BY THE LEVEL OF MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, AND WHAT WE ARE SEEING A LOT OF IS THAT THERE ARE APPLICANTS THAT ARE APPLYING.

THAT YOU KNOW, YOU WONDER SOMETIMES WHETHER OR NOT THEY ACTUALLY RE- THE POSTINGS.

SO, ONE OF THE POSITIONS IN A J POSITION ONLY HAD ABOUT EIGHT PEOPLE THAT ACTUALLY MET THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS.

HOWEVER AS YOU HAVE HEARD, ENGLISH WAS WELL REPRESENTED, ACCOUNTING, I BELIEVE AT 77, SO IT AS VARIED.

DENTAL HYGIENE WAS IN QUESTION, AND THAT ONE HAD 11 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS.

SO, THE FIRST PART IS WHETHER OR NOT THEY ACTUALLY MEET THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS WHICH OF COURSE IS DRIVEN OUT OF THE CHANCELLOR'S OFFICE.

AND WE DO HOLD VERY CLOSELY TO THAT.

AND THEN WE GO FROM THERE.

SO PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT OTHER QUESTIONS I CAN ANSWER FOR YOU.

>> NANCY ON THAT LAST ONE THAT IS THEIR BUSINESS, BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION?

>> OKAY, LET ME GET TO THAT ONE JUST A MINUTE.

AND I AM PUTTING MYSELF ON MUTE BECAUSE MY DOGS ARE VERY ACTIVE TONIGHT I AM SORRY.

IT LOOKS LIKE BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION

[01:35:33]

HAD 44 THAT MET MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS.

>> I BELIEVE SPANISH HAD AROUND 80 IF I RECALL CORRECTLY? IT WAS A COMPETITIVE SEARCH.

>> YES IT WAS A VERY STRONG SEARCH.

I'M SORRY I DID NOT HAVE ALL OF THIS PULLED UP.

SEVENTY-SIX, RIGHT ON.

>> WOW, NICELY DONE.

ARE THERE ANY OTHER QUESTIONS THAT I CAN ADDRESS?

>> NO THE ONLY OTHER QUESTION I HAVE NOW KIND OF LIKE POST HIRING, ONCE THE BOARD APPROVED THE HIRING OF THESE FIVE FACULTY MEMBERS DO WE EVER GO BACK AND SURVEYED THE APPLICANTS? SO WE CAN GET A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT THEIR EXPERIENCE WAS WITH THE PROCESS? AND IF THEY HAD ANY RECOMMENDATIONS?

>> NOT TO MY KNOWLEDGE.

I AT LEAST ON THE THE SEARCHES, I DO CALL PERSONALLY THE CANDIDATES THAT WERE NOT SELECTED, AND M PROVIDE FEEDBACK IF THEY ASK QUESTIONS, BUT I DON'T THINK WE DO THAT FOR OTHERS.

SO WE CAN DEFINITELY DO THAT.

>> YES, I KNOW WE ARE GETTING READY TO CONSIDER THE BUDGET.

AND RECOMMENDATIONS YOU KNOW FROM AGAIN, I KEEP ON GOING THROUGH ALL OF THIS GREAT INFORMATION AND CONFERENCES I'M GOING TO KEEP BACK INFORMATION.

SO THEY REALLY TALK ABOUT MAKING SURE THAT YOU ACTION ICE DIVERSITY WITHIN YOUR BUDGET.

SO WHAT ARE SPECIFICS EXAMPLES OF WHAT YOU INSTITUTIONALIZE THIS AS PART OF YOUR BUDGET? I THINK THAT IS SOMETHING THAT WOULD BE WELL WORTH LOOKING INTO.

AGAIN WHAT HAS SOME PEOPLE EXPERIENCE BEEN HERE, WHAT RECOMMENDATIONS THEY HAVE FOR IMPROVEMENT, AND WHAT FEEDBACK CAN THEY PROVIDE TO HR SO THEY CAN CONSTANTLY REVIEW AND UPDATE AND MAKE SURE WE CONTINUE TO HAVE GREAT POOLS AND GREAT AMOUNT OF PEOPLE APPLYING, AND THEN EVEN MORE IMPORTANT HIRING THE RIGHT PEOPLE, YOU KNOW AS WE SAW TODAY, WITH OUR RETIREES.

OUR EMPLOYEES ARE SAYING 20 PLUS YEARS, SO ONCE WE HIRE THEM, JUST AS MUCH AS THEY ARE INVESTING THEIR CAREER AT CERRITOS COLLEGE WE INVEST IN THEM AS WELL TOO.

HE GOT AGAIN MAKING SURE THAT WE DO WHATEVER WE CAN TO RECRUIT THE RIGHT PEOPLE TO STAY HERE, AND SEVERAL STUDENTS IN THE COMMUNITY THANK YOU.

>> YES THANK YOU AND WE WILL EXPLORE ON THAT AND I THINK THOSE ARE VERY GOOD POINTS TRUSTEE PEREZ.

AND I WANT TO POINT OUT SINCE YOU MENTIONED IT.

WHICH IS SOMETHING THAT I HAVE ALWAYS REALLY LOVE ABOUT CERRITOS COLLEGE AND I THINK I SAY IT EVERY TIME WITH THE CELEBRATION WITH THE YEARS OF EMPLOYMENT.

AND WHEN WE DO THE LUNCHEON, WHICH WE DID LAST WEEK.

THE LONGEVITY OF EMPLOYEES ON CAMPUS, I AM ALWAYS JEALOUS OF

[01:40:03]

THE TIME OR EMPLOYEES IN TEAMS THAT HAS BEEN ON CAMPUSES IS BEEN A LONG TIME, IN FACT THEY AVERAGE TEN YEARS, WHICH MEANS SOME MORE AND SOME ARE LESS AND THEN THEY ARE CALCULATED.

AT 18 YEARS.

EIGHTEEN YEARS OF SERVICE AT CERRITOS COLLEGE.

IN MANAGEMENT AND STAFF IN 17 YEARS, ACROSS THE BOARD, SO I THINK THOSE ARE IMPRESSIVE NUMBERS.

AND I'M ALWAYS EXCITED RECOGNITIONS OF MANY PEOPLE THAT SPENT AN INVESTOR MUCH OF THE COLLEGE.

>> OKAY SO, I'LL BE GOING TO APPROVE 3.17?

>> SO MOVE.

>> SECOND.

THE MOTION PASSES, WE DID FOR 4.01 ALREADY SO WE WOULD DO 5.01.

>> I THINK YOUR FILIBUSTER IS OVER DR. FIERRO.

OKAY SO, WHAT CAN WE RELAXED TO INCREASE EFFICIENCY IN THE MI COVID-19 POLICIES?

>> BEFORE WE ENGAGE IN A CONVERSATION I THINK WE SHOULD LOOK AT NEIGHBORING DISTRICTS AND UNDERSTAND THE DIRECTION OF THE COMMUNITY, IN THAT REGARD.

BECAUSE WHEN THE PANDEMIC BEGAN EVERYONE STARTED PUTTING RESTRICTIONS AND FOLLOWING VERY STRICT PROTOCOLS, AND THEY ENDED UP FALLING ALL OVER THE PLACE UNTIL THERE WAS SOME SORT OF, COMMON INTENTION ACROSS OUR NEIGHBORING DISTRICTS.

I THINK AS WE EMERGE OUT OF THIS, I THINK THERE IS MORE ORGANIZED TO START REMOVING SOME OF THE BARRIERS.

SO LAST TIME AROUND THE OFFICE HE MOVED OR MAKE OPTIONAL THE MASS MANDATES AND THE LAST MEETING, OBVIOUSLY WE WORKED ON REMOVING SOME OF THE TESTING AND CHECKING REQUIREMENTS FOR SOME OF OUR VENDORS AS IT RELATES TO PROOF OF VACCINATION OR NEGATIVE TESTING.

THIS TIME THERE ARE SUMMER SCHOOLS THAT ARE CONSIDERING REMOVING THE MANDATE FOR MANDATORY VACCINATION FOR STUDENTS TO BEGIN WITH, BUT I DON'T HAVE ALL OF THE INFORMATION THAT I WILL HAVE TO DOUBLE CHECK, SO PLEASE DON'T TAKE THIS IS FACTUAL I BELIEVE.

MOUNT SAN ANTONIO IS REMOVING IT ALL WILL BE REMOVING IT SOON.

THE COLLEGES ON L A C CD.

THEY ARE IN DISCUSSION AND LET THE POLICY EXPIRE.

SO WE WOULD LIKE TO BE ABLE TO BRING THE BOARD A LITTLE MORE COMPREHENSIVE REPORT ON WHAT IS HAPPENING ON THE NEIGHBORING INSTITUTIONS AND EXPLORE SOME OF THE REASONS WHY THEY ARE MAKING THOSE CHANGES WHEN I RE APPROACH TO COVID, AND VIRTUALLY ANY COLLEGE IN THE AREA.

THEY NEVER LEFT THEY CONTINUE TO OPERATE ALMOST LIKE NOTHING WAS HAPPENING.

AND THEY AIR MANDATES ARE RELATIVELY LAX, AND OVERSEE DIFFERENT CULTURE AND DIFFERENT EXPECTATIONS.

BUT I WOULD LIKE TO DO IS LOOK AT THE DIFFERENT CAMPUSES AND UNDERSTAND WHY THOSE CHANGES ARE TAKING PLACE IN THE EXPERIENCING ANY INCREASES AND JOBS IN ENROLLMENT THAT ARE DIFFERENT THAN OURS.

SO THEN WE CAN MAKE AN INFORMED DECISION IF ANY REGARDING THE RECOMMENDATIONS.

[01:45:07]

>> THAT SOUNDS GOOD TO ME, I WOULD JUST REQUEST THAT AT THAT TIME WE WOULD BE ABLE TO TAKE ACTION IMMEDIATELY AFTER ALL THE INFORMATION THAT IS AVAILABLE TO US AND THEN HAVE A MEETING THEREAFTER.

>> I CAN DO THAT.

>> OKAY THANK YOU.

>> CAN I ALSO AT ONTO THAT REQUEST.

SO I THINK WE HAVE RECEIVED E-MAILS ABOUT THE REQUEST TO DROP THE WEEK OF TESTING RIGHT? IS IT WEEKLY TEXTING?

>> YES WE CAN TESTING FOR THOSE WHO ARE NOT VACCINATED.

>> AGAIN YOU STARTED ABOUT THE EFFICACY OF RAPID TESTS IT IS QUESTIONABLE RIGHT? SO AGAIN JUST TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT THE BEST USE OF PEOPLE'S TIME TO GET TESTED AGAIN? I AM NOT SURE WE DON'T KNOW IF THE TEST WILL BE WEEKLY, VERSUS EVERY TW FEELING SYMPTOMS, AGAIN JUST TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT THE OPTIONS ARE ON THAT.

>> I WILL DEFINITELY DO THAT, I THINK I WILL BRING YOU THE REPORT BEFORE I ANSWER THAT.

>> THANK YOU.

>> DR. YOU MIGHT WANT TO MENTION MAY BE FROM THE CONVERSATION THAT WE HAD RECENTLY, MAYBE YOU CAN TALK ABOUT HOW.

BUT WE ARE DOING NOW, IS MANDATED BY THE COUNTY RIGHT? AND MAYBE YOU CAN TALK ABOUT THE TEARS SO A LOT OF IT AT THIS POINT SEEMS TO BE OUT OF OUR CONTROL.

INCLUDING THE WEEKLY TESTING FOR THE UNVACCINATED.

SO SOMEBODY CAN MENTION THAT WE JUST CANNOT TAKE IT AWAY.

>> I CAN DEFINITELY DO THAT, I WILL LET YOU KNOW IF I CAN GET IT READY FOR NEXT WEDNESDAY, BUT I WILL DO MY BEST TO TRY TO GET ITS READY FOR NEXT WEDNESDAY.

IF NOT ALL RECEIPT THE NEXT MEETING.

BUT I WILL DO EVERYTHING I CAN TO GET IT READY BY NEXT WEDNESDAY.

>> OKAY, SO THAT IS IT?

>> THANK YOU.

>> OKAY WE WILL MOVE ON TO REPORT AND COMMENT FROM DISTRICT

[6.01 Reports and Comments from District Officials]

OFFICIALS.

ABOUT OUR NEW TRUSTEE HECTOR, DO YOU HAVE ANY REPORTS FOR US?

>> NO I DO NOT HAVE ANY REPORTS.

TODAY THANK YOU.

>> THANK YOU ACTA.

>> THANK YOU.

TRUSTEE LEWIS?

>> THE LAST COUPLE OF WEEKS.

WE HAD THE COMMENCEMENT OF COURSE THAT MOST OF US WENT ON.

AND I THINK DR. MILLER FOR HER AND HER TEAM FOR MAKING ALL OF THAT HAPPENED AND MOVING IN A VERY SMOOTH FUNCTION, SO THANK YOU FOR NOT ONLY DOING ONCE WHAT DOING IT TWICE.

FOR THE LARGEST GRADUATING CLASS ACEVEDO EVER HAD.

SO, AND REALLY, REALLY PROUD OF ALL OF THE WORK THAT WE HAVE DONE HERE AT CERRITOS FOR EVERYTHING DR. FIERRO LEADERSHIP OVER THE LAST SEVEN YEARS NOW HAS IT BEEN?

>> SEVEN YEARS HAS.

>> SEVEN YEARS TIME REALLY FLIES, I WAS A KID AT THE TIME.

[LAUGHTER] WORK WE ALL WE WERE ALL YOUNGER.

BUT YOU KNOW, OFTEN THINK BACK TO YOU KNOW 2015 WENT WE WERE DECIDING WHO WE WERE GOING TO PICK FOR OUR NEXT SUPERINTENDENT.

BECAUSE THAT IS TRULY ONE OF IF NOT THE BIGGEST THING THAT WE DO AS A MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES.

IT IS TO PICK THE PERSON WHO IS GOING TO BE HERE ON DAILY BASIS.

FIGHTING ALL THE BATTLES AND KEEPING ADMINISTRATION GOING THROUGH, NOT ONLY TAKEN THE DAY TO DAY THINGS, BUT ALSO CREATING A VISION FOR OUR COLLEGE, AND NOT A SINGLE DAY GOES BY THAT I THINK THAT WE DID NOT MAKE THE RIGHT DECISION.

I KNOW THAT WE MADE THE RI WE THINK ABOUT.

I WANT TO THANK DR. FIERRO FIRST CONTINUED LEISURE.

IT IS NOT ONLY EFFICIENT, AND IS NOT ONLY SOMETHING THAT PRODUCES RESULTS, BUT IS DONE WITH HEART.

BECAUSE DR.

FIERRO DOES NOT STATE IN THE IVORY TIRE HE GOES ON TO EVERY EVENT OUT THERE.

TO UNDERSTAND WHAT TRULY HAPPENS ON THE GROUNDS.

SO I WANT TO THANK DR. FIERRO FOR HIS LEADERSHIP AND KNOW THAT PS THE FULL FAITH AND CONFIDENCE.

[01:50:06]

OF CERTAINLY MYSELF AND I CAN SPEAK FOR THE REST OF THE COLLEGE AS WELL.

THAT WE HAVE FULL FAITH AND CONFIDENCE IN HIS LEADERSHIP.

FOR AS MANY YEARS AS HE WOULD LIKE TO STAY HERE.

SO THANK YOU DR. FIERRO.

IN OTHER NEWS WE ALSO HAD THE COMMENCEMENT.

WE SERVED AS MODERATOR FOR THE FLEET WEEK EDUCATION ROUNDTABLE AT THE BATTLESHIP IOWA AND SAN PEDRO, I WAS INVITED TO HOST A PANEL THAT INCLUDED FOR MEMBERS OF THE DIFFERENT SECTORS OF EDUCATION FROM THE MILITARY, WE HAD A CAPTAIN, WE HAD A GUEST WE CALL IT THE INFORMAL EDUCATION, WHICH THE REPRESENTATIVE WAS BEN, WHO IS THE DIRECTOR OF THE COLUMBIA SPACE MEMORIAL CENTER IN DOWNEY.

WE AT A REPRESENTATIVE FROM RAYTHEON, INC.

WE HAD A REPRESENTATIVE FROM L.A.

UNIFIED AS WELL PARTICIPATING IN THE PANEL.

AND A LOT OF VIBRANT DISCUSSION THAT HAPPENED THERE.

AND THEN IT WILL BE A NOTE COMPILATION OF ALL OF THE NOTES, AND IDEAS THAT WERE BROUGHT UP IN THAT PRESENTATION, THAT SHOULD BE AV THAT AVAILABLE TO ALL OF THE TRUSTEES HERE.

OTHER THAN THAT, WE HAD THE MEMORIAL DAY AT THE CITY OF LA MAROTTA, AND WE HAD A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO HEAR FROM A RETIRED ADMIRAL I WANT TO SAY, GIVE THE KEYNOTE SPEECH OVER THERE.

AND WE ALSO HAD THE OPENING AND CLOSING OF AN ACTUAL CIVIL WAR MORTAR THAT WAS FIRED IN THE PARKING NOT OF ALL OF LAWN CEMETERY.

AS YOU MIGHT IMAGINE, MADE SOME CAR ALARMS GO OFF.

FOR A LITTLE WHILE DURING THE CEREMONY IT WAS ALL IN GOOD TIME, SO I WANT TO THANK THE VFW OF LOT MAROTTA POST- 9148 AND COMMANDER ANGELO MALDONADO FOR MAKING THIS MEMORIAL DAY CELEBRATION THAT WE HAVE NOT HAD IN A COUPLE YEARS GO OFF VERY WELL.

AND THAT IS ALL FOR TODAY.

BUT TOMORROW IS THE FIRST DAY OF CERRITOS COLLEGE'S EASTPORT SENTIMENT AND SUPER SMASH BROTHERS WILL BE PLAYED.

UNFORTUNATELY I CANNOT MAKE IT TOMORROW BUT CERTAINLY IT LATER IN THE SUMMER I WILL BE PARTICIPATING IN BE PREPARED.

THANK YOU.

>> THANK YOU FOR THE REPORT THAT'S INTERESTING.

>> THANK YOU, I WELCOME TRUSTEE LADESMA WE ARE LUCKY TO HAVE YOU, AND REACH OUT TO ANY ONE OF US FOR ANY ADVICE AND QUESTIONS THAT YOU MAY HAVE.

WE ARE HERE TO SO WE ARE WELCOME.

ALSO THANK YOU FOR THE REPORT ON COVID-19.

IT IS A CHALLENGING TIME BECAUSE EVEN THOUGH WE ARE GETTING BACK TO NORMAL, FLUTE NUMBERS ARE GOING UP COVID-19 CASES ARE GO TRANSITIONING TO A POINT WHERE WE JUST HAVE TO LIVE WITH COVID-19, AND EVERYTHING THAT IT COMES WITH.

WITH THAT BEING SAID I WANT TO THANK DR. FIERRO AND HIS LEADERSHIP FOR GETTING US THROUGH THE WORST OF IT, I REALLY FEEL HE WAS REASONABLE SCIENCE DRIVEN AND REALLY AT THE SAFETY OF OUR STUDENTS AND STAFF IN MIND WHEN WE HAD THESE DECISIONS.

SOME WERE DIFFICULT DECISIONS.

THEY HAD TO BE MADE, AND I DO WANT TO COMMEND HIS LEADERSHIP COMING FROM A SCIENCE BACKGROUND.

ONE OF THE THINGS WHEN DR. FIERRO WAS ON THE SEARCH COMMITTEE COME UP WITH SOME OF MY COLLEAGUES, AND WE DIDN'T HAVE A STUDENT ON THE SEARCH COMMITTEE AND THAT WAS SOMETHING STUDENT INPUT AND I AM DEFINITELY IN FAVOR OF FINDING A WAY TO HAVE STUDENTS INPUT ON THESE COMMITTEES AND HAVING THEM PARTICIPATE IN DEFINITELY PAID.

SO I AM DEFINITELY FAVOR THAT.

I REMEMBER, WHEN WE WERE ON THE COMMITTEE, ONE OF THE THINGS THAT HIS NUMBERS ARE DRIVEN.

WE HAVE BEEN BLESSED TO BENEFIT FROM SINCE HE HAS BEEN HERE IS BEEN HERE EVERY YEAR COMPLETION RATES HAVE GONE UP, GRADUATION RATE HAS GONE UP,

[01:55:01]

AND THE STUDENTS ARE WINNING.

TO ALL HIS STAFF AND HOW IT MAKES IT HAPPEN.

HE OUT DOES HIMSELF, I DO NOT KNOW HOW WE KEEP TRAJECTORY BUT DEFINITELY IT IS NOTICE.

AND I THINK THAT IS IT.

I LIKE TO THANK HIM FOR HIS LEADERSHIP.

AND EVERYTHING HE DOES FOR HIS STUDENTS AND STAFF.

I'M GLAD HE'S HERE ALREADY SEVEN YEARS AS CRAZY AND WE WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT YOU DR. FIERRO.

>> THANK YOU.

TRUSTEE PARENTS.

>> YES THANK YOU VERY MUCH I HAVE QUITE A LENGTHY REPORT AS A MENTIONED.

TRANSITION MODE EVERYTHING GOING ON THE STATE.

BUT I WANTED TO ECHO THE COMMENTS THAT HAVE BEEN MADE BY THE COLLEGE.

WE ARE GOING THROUGH CHALLENGING TIMES.

AND I JUST ACKNOWLEDGE EVERYBODY THANK YOU FOR YOUR COMMENTS AND YOUR E-MAILS AND THANK YOU FOR SHOWING UP AT THE BOARD MEETINGS, THANKS FOR SPEAKING ON PUBLIC COMMENT.

WE DEFINITELY HEAR FROM YOU AND THE BOARD.

AND I JUST WANTED TO ALSO JUST ACKNOWLEDGE AND THANK DR. FIERRO FOR LEADING US THROUGH THIS TURBULENT CHALLENGING TIME IT IS WELL APPRECIATED AND WELL RECOGNIZED AND VERY GLAD THAT YOU ARE HERE.

LEADING THE WAY AND STILL GLAD THAT WE MADE THAT DECISION.

THE FEW PEOPLE WHO BRAVED THE COLD WINTER TO HIRE YOU AT RECRUIT YOU AND COMMIT YOU TO COME OVER HERE TO CERRITOS COLLEGE.

SO WITH THAT, ALSO TRANSITIONING TO SAY REBEL, SO HE WILL JOIN ME IN THE EVER EXTENDED AMOUNT OF WORK TO AGAIN WORK ON THAT HALF OF OUR STUDENTS THEY MIGHT ESPECIALLY HERE AT CERRITOS COLLEGE.

TREATMENT TODAY I HAD A GREAT BRIEFING FROM METRO ON THE METRO GOLD HOUSE PROGRAM AND I WAS REALLY I WANT TO JUMP IN WHEN MOHAMMED TALKED ABOUT THE PARKING.

I HAVE A SOLUTION.

DO YOU KNOW THAT CERRITOS COLLEGE YOU DO YOU A FREE TRANSIT PASS TO GET IT.

I WANTED TO SAY THAT BUT IT IS DURING PUBLIC COMMENT.

IF YOU ARE STILL LISTENING OUT THERE MOHAMMED WE HAVE A SOLUTION TO WORRY ABOUT DRIVING USE FE TRANSIT PASS.

BUT AS OF TODAY WE HAVE A HUNDRED AND 74 STUDENTS ENROLLED IN THE CERRITOS COLLEGE SCHOOL PASS PROGRAM.

AGAIN REMEMBER THIS IS SOMETHING THAT THE STUDENTS A SCC ARE PAYING FOR.

THROUGH A STUDENT FEE.

TWO AND WITH THAT THEY PAY A FEE AND THEY GET TO USE A TRANSIT PASS, TOO METRO, AND ALL OF THE MUNICIPAL OPERATORS, 24 HOURS A DAY, EVERY SEMESTER THAT THEY ARE ENROLLED AT CERRITOS COLLEGE.

SO DR. FIERRO WE NEED TO DO MORE THIS.

OKAY SO 174 STUDENTS IS GOOD IS A GOOD START WHEN WE STARTED MIDWAY BUT WE NEED TO REALLY DO SOME MARKETING I'M GLAD MAIA IS HERE.

I WOULD LIKE TO SEE ABOUT AN AUGUST 17 AS I MENTIONED WE HAVE A STUDY SESSION SO THAT THREE ITEMS THAT I WANT TO HAVE A REPORT ON.

WHEN IS THE GO PASS PROGRAM.

WE WANT TO TALK ABOUT A MARKETING CAMPAIGN, A SOCIAL MEDIA POST I WOULD LOVE TO SEE ABOUT HAVING LETTERS TO STUDENT VIDEO PROMOTING THE PROGRAM.

TRUSTEE WALLACE WAS HERE A FEW YEARS AGO SO MAYBE YOU CAN RECRUIT TRUSTEE LEDESMA TO DO THE VIDEO.

STUDENTS PROMOTING PROGRAMS FOR STUDENTS IS WAY MORE INTERESTING AND SUCCESSFUL FROM HEARING FROM A BUNCH OF OLDER ADULTS.

I THAT, THIS SEMESTER STARTS AUGUST 15 FOR FALL, SO AGAIN WE ARE REALLY TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WE DO.

I WOULD LIKE REPORT PRACTICE ON AUGUST 17.

THE SECOND THING I MENTIONED ALSO EARLIER, WAS TO HAVE OUR FACULTY LEADERS, PLEASE GIVE US AN UPDATE ON WHAT THEY THINK.

THAT OUR COLLEGE SHOULD DO ON THE EMPLOYEE EVALUATION AND TENURE REVIEW AND TITLE V REGULATION.

THAT WAS PASSED BY THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS SO I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A DISCUSSION ABOUT THAT ON AUGUST THE 17TH, AND THEN THE LAST ONE, IS TO HAVE VICE PRESIDENT LOPEZ AND OUR CHIEF DO A PRESENTATION ON CAMPUS CLIMATE AND PUBLIC SAFETY REGULATION WHICH IS ALSO PASS.

TWO BY THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS AND I THINK I MENTIONED THAT THE CHIEF DID A REALLY WONDERFUL PRESENTATION BY THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS ABOUT WHAT WE ARE DOING HERE ON COMMUNITY POLICING.

WHICH I WOULD LOVE FOR HIM TO CHAIR AND TALK ABOUT WITH EVERYTHING.

BECAUSE WE ARE YOU KNOW LIGHT YEARS AHEAD OF SO MANY COLLEGES ACROSS THE STATE WHO REALLY EMBRACE COMMUNITY POLICING, WE HAVE REALLY DONE SOME GREAT THING UNDER VICE PRESIDENT LOPEZ AND WE WOULD LOVE TO TALK ABOUT THAT.

LAST IS TODAY, AND MIGHT LEAD ROLE I PAINTED IN ALL ED WITH DR. BYRON BRELAND, WHO IS THE NEW CHANCELLOR AT NORTH

[02:00:05]

ORANGE.

ON CAL GRANT.

SO WE ARE TRYING TO PUT THE PRESSURE ON FOR LEGISLATION TO PASS A B-17 46.

I DID NOT WRITE THE OP-ED DELETED, THE CREDIT GOES TO THE LE DOCTOR.

I WANT TO READ ONE PARAGRAPH BECAUSE I FELT THAT THIS PARAGRAPH RELEASES OUT TO ME ABOUT WHY SO MANY OF US SPENT SO MANY HOURS ADVOCATING FOR STUDENTS.

AND WHY WE NEED THE LEGISLATURE TO UNDERSTAND ON WHAT IT'S LIKE TO MEET ME BECAUSE SOON.

THE PARAGRAPH SAYS, THIS IS BECAUSE THE STATE'S FINANCIAL AID SYSTEM IS PRIMARILY FOCUSED ON TUITION, AND IS NOT ADEQUATELY FACTOR IN THE TOTAL COST OF ATTENDANCE.

ALTHOUGH COMMUNITY COLLEGE TUITION IS RELATIVELY LOW, IN COMPARISON TO THE CAL STATE OR THE UC SYSTEM.

CALIFORNIA COMMUNITY COLLEGE STUDENTS STRUGGLE TO PAY RENT, PURCHASE FOOD, GET TO CLASS, AND IN MANY CASES SUPPORT THEIR FAMILIES.

ONE THING THAT MAKES ART STUDENTS DIFFERENT, IS THAT THEY ARE MANY STUDENT OUR STUDENT PARENTS.

THESE STUDENTS ARE OFTEN FORCED TO WORK MORE AND TAKE FEWER CLASSES ULTIMATELY IMPACTING THE ABILITY TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE CLASSROOM.

THIS BILL AIMS TO ADDRESS THE TOTAL CLASS OF ATTENDANCE BY SIMPLIFYING THE VARIOUS COW GRANT PROGRAMS, AND EXPANDING STUDENT ELIGIBILITY.

THE EXTENSION OF THE APPLICATION DEADLINE AND ELIMINATION OF CURRENT GPA REQUIREMENTS, AND AGE CAP, MEANS THAT RETURNING AND NONTRADITIONAL STUDENTS WILL HAVE GREATER ACCESS TO FINANCIAL AID.

IF THIS BILL IS PASSED, WE ARE GOING TO RECEIVE MORE THAN 100,000 STUDENTS ELIGIBLE FOR THE COW GRANT.

WHICH WOULD BE HUGE FOR STUDENTS ACROSS THE STATE.

IT WILL BE SIGNIFICANT FO CERRITOS.

AGAIN, I JUST WANTED TO MENTION THAT.

STRONG SUPPORT THANK YOU TO THE COLLEGE FOR THE ADVOCACY, AND WHATEVER WE CAN DO TO GET THE FINAL PUSH TO HAVE THE GOVERNOR SIGN IT.

A B-17 46, THAT IS ALL I HAVE THANK YOU.

>> THANK YOU.

ALL RIGHT, SO THANK YOU FOR DR. FIERRO VISION AND RELATIONSHIP WITH TAIWAN.

LAST NIGHT WE OFFERED CHINESE CULTURE AND LANGUAGE CLASS FOR MORE THAN TWO HUNDRED COMMITTEE MEMBERS FOR FREE.

AND THANK YOU FOR ESPECIALLY THANK YOU FOR THE COMMUNITY EDUCATION DIRECTOR, FOR MS. VASQUEZ AND KYLE JANEL, THEY WORK VERY HARD.

IT WAS A PLEASURE TO ATTEND THE GRADUATION FOR 1850 STUDENTS AGAIN A RECORD HIGH FOR STUDENTS.

THEY GRADUATED THIS YEAR.

WHILE WE CELEBRATE THE STUDENTS SUCCESS, THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT THIS SUCCESS WE HAVE SEEN OVER THE LAST SEVEN YEARS.

IS DIRECTLY RELATED TO DR. FIERRO VISION.

I AM ONE 100% CONFIDENT IN HIS ABILITY TO LEAD THE DISTRICT THROUGH MORE SUCCESSFUL YEARS.

THANK YOU DR. FIERRO, THAT IS MY REPORT.

CARMEN YOUR REPORT?

>> HI EVERYBODY I DON'T HAVE A REPORT BUT I DO WANT TO ECHO THAT YOU KNOW I THINK THIS BOARD IS UNITED IN SUPPORT YOU DR. FIERRO, I THINK YOU HAVE DONE A PHENOMENAL JOB WITH ALL OF THE ADVERSITIES THAT WE HAVE HAD AND CHALLENGES WITH COVID-19, AND CHALLENGES WITH HOUSING FOR SURGES.

FOOD IN PROBABLY AS DONE A PHENOMENAL JOB WITH REALLY ADDRESSING STUDENT NEEDS.

AND I THINK OUR COLLEGE BOTH SANDRA AND DR. SALAZAR AND MY COLLEAGUE PEREZ, HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD WHEN THEY SAID YOU ARE VERY DATA-DRIVEN.

AND THAT'S ONLY LOOK AT ONE WITH THE GUY SUCCESSFUL PROGRAMS. WE ALSO LOOK AT WHAT'S IMPACTING THE STUDENTS NOT JUST AT CERRITOS BUT STATEWIDE WITH EVERYBODY SITTING ON THE BOARD OF THE STATE LEVEL.

THE FACT THAT WE HAVE SO MUCH ADVOCATES TALENT FROM FOLKS WHO UNDERSTAND THE COMMUNITY COLLEGE SYSTEM.

IT SPEAKS VOLUMES OF THE CALIBER OF FOLKS THAT WE DO HAVE AT THE COLLEGE TO SELL.

SO KUDOS TO YOU DR. YOU DOING A GREAT JOB.

I RECKON AS WE IN A CHALLENGING TIME RIGHT NOW AS WE ARE GOING THROUGH NEGOTIATIONS THAT CHALLENGING.

HOWEVER THIS BOY STANDS BEHIND YOU VERY SOLID IN THE WORK THAT YOU HAVE DONE AND WORK THAT CONTINUES TO SEE IN

[02:05:03]

PROGRESS AND SUCCESS FOR THE STUDENTS.

ON THE OTHER NO, MANY OF YOU ALREADY KNOW, THERE ARE OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE SUMMER.

I DO WANT TO SEE MORE ADVERTISING FOR SUMMER FOR CERRITOS CLASSES.

I'M GETTING QUITE A FEW TEXT FROM ANOTHER COLLEGE FOR MY KIDS TO ATTEND THE SUMMER PROGRAMS. I AM WONDERING IF WE ARE DOING THE SAME IN TERMS OF TAKING STUDENTS LIKE THERE ARE CLASSES OPENING UP.

I AM GETTING IN ON THEIR BEHALF.

I WONDER IF WE ARE DOING THE SAME IN TERMS OF SCHOOL.

AND OFTEN TIMES IT IS SOMEONE HAS A TAPPING ON THE SHOULDER.

AT THIS POINT WHO IS TAKING YOU ON YOUR PHONE AND MAKE IT SHORT THAT YOU KNOW THAT THERE ARE COURSES AVAILABLE? SO ANYWAY THAT'S ALL I HAVE.

THANK YOU COLLEAGUES YOU GUYS ARE ALL AMAZING AND I LOOK FORWARD TO SUMMER.

>> THANK YOU.

>> ABSOLUTELY, THANK YOU DR. LIU.

YES, I JUST WANT TO CONGRATULATE AGAIN ALL OF THE STUDENTS, THAT GRADUATED SINCE WE LAST MET.

FANTASTIC TIME TOGETHER OVER MULTIPLE DAYS.

AND JUST ABSOLUTELY INSPIRING.

IT IS HOPEFULLY IT WAS AS GREAT FOR THE STUDENTS AS IT WAS FOR ALL OF US AT THE COLLEGE.

I WILL ECHO THE SENTIMENTS FROM THE REST OF THE BOARD MEMBERS.

DR. FIERRO I APPRECIATE YOUR NOT ONLY YOUR CONTINUED VISION WHICH WAS BEEN WELL ARTICULATED, BUT YOUR COMMITMENT RIGHT FROM THE BEGINNING FOR THOSE WHO NORMALLY DON'T GET ADVOCATED FOR.

IT HAS MADE OUR COLLEGE STAND OUT.

IN TERMS OF OUR CULTURE, AND IN TERMS OF OUR IDENTITY.

AND I THINK IT IS THE ABSOLUTE RIGHT FIT FOR CERRITOS COLLEGE TO HAVE A VISION THAT IS CENTERED AROUND FOLKS WHO DON'T REALLY HAVE AS MANY ASSETS AS THE REST OF US, AND HAVE AS MANY OPPORTUNITIES AS THE REST OF US, TO REALLY PRIORITIZE THOSE PEOPLE.

BECAUSE THAT IS THE CORE OF WHO OUR COMMUNITY IS MADE UP OF.

AN LIKE CERRITOS COLLEGE.

SO I REALLY APPRECIATE YOU VIEWING IT THAT WAY, AND IT IS BEEN AN EXTRAORDINARY LAST FEW YEARS.

AGAIN THANK YOU DR. FIERRO IN THE BOARD.

>> DR. FIERRO?

>> THANK YOU TRUSTEE LIU, SO, JUST A COUPLE OF PIECES, ONE ACTUALLY, I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE WITH YOU THIS IS REALLY FUN ON MAY 27, I GOT TRICKED INTO GOING TO APPARENTLY SPEAK WITH A HANDFUL OF KIDS ON CAREER DAY.

SO THEN YOU KNOW IT WAS A SMALL CLASSROOM.

AND THEN NO, IT IS AN ASSEMBLY OF LIKE 300 PLUS STUDENTS.

SO WE WENT TO THE INTENSIVE LEARNING CENTER IN BELLFLOWER.

I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO GO WITH MY ANDREA, SINCE I WAS AFRAID OF OVER 300 LITTLE KIDS AND I'M NOT LYING.

AND WE HAD ALL KINDS OF GEAR TO GIVE THE STUDENTS.

YOU KNOW CERRITOS COLLEGE MERCHANDISE AND SO ON.

WE EXPENSE ABOUT AN HOUR WITH THE STUDENTS, AND NOT ONLY WAS IT A GREAT TIME TO SPEND THE TIME THERE WITH THE STUDENTS, BUT IT WAS INCREDIBLY REFRESHING TO SEE HOW SMART SCHEDULER? WE HAD DIFFERENT TYPES OF PRIZES AND SOME OF THE FAMOUS FALCON KIDS T-SHIRTS THOSE ARE A COMMODITY.

THOSE TEASERS ARE FAMOUS ON SCHOOLS AND THE KIDS LOVE THOSE T-SHIRTS.

SO WE HAD A HANDFUL OF THOSE, ABOUT TEN OR 15 SHARES.

WHEN YOU HAVE 300 KIDS YOU KNOW.

SO WE DETERMINED THAT WE NEEDED TO ASK SOME SERIOUS QUESTIONS TO THE STUDENTS.

OBVIOUSLY MY KN IT IS VERY LIMITED, SO I DID NOT WANT TO ASK SO I STARTED ASKING QUESTIONS THAT WERE RELATIVELY COMPLICATED AND THE STUDENTS WERE LIKE JUMPING AT THE ANSWERS.

WITH NO PROBLEM WHILE I THOUGHT MAYBE I WAS ASKING QUESTIONS THAT WERE TOO EASY.

[02:10:03]

SO I SAID ALL RIGHT, WE WILL GIVE THE LAST ONE, AND I'M SURE I'M GOING TO GET YOU SOME OF YOU ON THIS ONE.

I SAID YOU GUYS KNOW MATH AND THEY SAID YES, DO YOU KNOW WHAT PIE IS? AND THEY SAID YES YOUR.

I SAID WHO IS GOING TO GIVE ME THE FIRST FOUR NUMBERS OF PIE AFTER THE.

THEY GOT QUIET FOR A SECOND AND 45 HANDS GO UP SUPERFAST.

AND THEY GOT IT RIGHT.

AND THESE ARE KIDS I DON'T KNOW MAYBE 2ND-4TH GRADE I DON'T KNOW.

THEY KNEW CAPITALS ACROSS THE GLOBE NOT JUST THE UNITED STAT CALCULATIONS OFF THE TOP OF THE HEAD.

IT WAS REALLY NICE TO SEE HOW SMART THEY ARE AND HOW PASSIONATE OF BEING IN SCHOOL.

THEY WERE SO THEN I OBVIOUSLY HAD TO GET MY LET'S SAY BY REVENGE BACK.

SO I PUT BOTH MY AUNT ANDREA IN FRONT OF THE KIDS A SECOND OR TWO I AM NOT GOING TO SAY WHO FROZE IN FRONT OF THE AUDIENCE.

BUT IT WAS A GREAT TIME.

NEXT, WE KEEP TALKING ABOUT THE GREAT RESIGNATION, AND IT IS DEFINITELY SOMETHING.

SO IF YOU GOOG RESIGNATION, IN 0.8 SECONDS, YOU GET 344 MILLION HITS.

OF WHAT THE GREAT RESIGNATION IS, THE AMOUNT OF JOBS THAT HAVE BEEN LOST, POTENTIAL SOLUTIONS AND CA THERE IS 11.5 MILLION JOBS OPEN ACROSS THE ENTIRE UNITED STATES.

IT IS THE HIGHEST NUMBER THAT IS EVER BEEN.

I SURGED THROUGH THE STATE OF CORAL APPOINTED ONLY IN A BETTER STATE OF JOBS, WE HAVE OVER 120 JOBS.

OPEN I THINK OF YESTERDAY I CHECKED.

AND THAT IS AFTER MANY OF US HAVE BEEN HIRED NONSTOP.

SO OBVIOUSLY, IT IS SOMETHING THAT IS HAPPENING, IN FACT THE FIRST ARTICLE THAT COMES CLOSE TO SIX HOURS AGO SAID THE GREAT RESIGNATION REACHES THE WHITE HOUSE WITH THE STAFF TURNOVER.

AND FROM THERE THERE'S MULTIPLE ARTICLES AS I SAID.

344 MILLION HITS IN LESS THAN HALF A SECOND PERIOD SO IT IS SOMETHING THAT WE ALL EXPERIENCE, AND OBVIOUSLY WE ARE DOING OUR BEST TO DEAL WITH IT.

THE NEXT TOPIC IS WE ARE DOING WELL ACADEMICALLY.

WE GRADUATE MORE STUDENTS THAN BEFORE EVEN WE HAVE TO STUDENTS.

SO WE ARE DOWN 20% TODAY, TO WHAT WE USED TO BE IN 2020.

20%, AND WHAT WE TALKED ABOUT 20% THAT BASICALLY MEANS ROUGHLY ABOUT OVER FOUR THOUSAND STUDENTS BASED ON HIGHER NUMBER.

YET BASED ON THE RATIO OF THE STUDENTS THAT WE GRADUATED, AND THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS THAT WE HAVE.

IF YOU CONTROLLED BY SIZE WE GRADUATED MORE STUDENTS THIS TIME AROUND THAN WE DID IN THE PAST WE CONTROL BY SIZE.

WE BOARDED MORE ADT'S THAN WE HAD IN THE PAST.

AND WE'VE ORDERED MORE CERTIFICATES THAN WE HAVE IN THE PAST.

WE WANT TO CELEBRATE THE GOOD NEWS BUT I THINK IT IS IM 20%.

DECREASE IN ENROLLMENT IS SIGNIFICANT.

IN IT IS SIGNIFICANT, OVER THE LONG TERM, BECAUSE WE WERE HOPING TO START SEEING SOME UPTICK IN THE SUMMER, AND WHAT WE HAVE SEEN IS NOT HAPPENING FAST ENOUGH, SO WE BEGAN WITH A DEFICIT IN THE SUMMER SUMMER TO SUMMER 14%.

WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DECREASE THAT TO A PERCENT.

WE ARE MINUS 14% WHEN WE STARTED IN THE SUMMER, TWO MINUS 8% IT YES IT IS POSITIVE NEWS IT IS POSITIVE MOVEMENT BUT WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE GREEN SCHEME OF THINGS AND WE SCALED DOWN 20% FROM PRE-PANDEMIC 2020 EVEN THOUGH WE ARE MOVING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION IS NOT MOVING FAST ENOUGH.

I WANT TO THANK THE ENTIRE TEAM BECAUSE THEY BEEN HEATING THE SOCIAL MEDIA SUPERHOT ACROSS EVERYTHING THAT WE DO ON THE DISTRICT TO CREATE THE PROGRAM'S HIRING.

IN ANY WAY THAT SHE CAN TO BRING ATTENTION TO THE COLLEGE AND IT'S WORKING BUT IS NOT HAPPENING AND THIS HAS A NUMBER OF

[02:15:01]

CONSEQUENCES.

A RECEIPT FROM BUDGETS, TO HIRING, AND EVERYTHING WE DO IS DRIVEN BY ENROLLMENT ESSENTIALLY.

WE NEED TO PAY ATTENTION TO THAT BECAUSE THAT IS NOT ONLY SOMETHING THAT IS HAPPENING TO CERRITOS COLLEGE IT IS SOMETHING THAT IS HAPPENING ACROSS EVERY SINGLE COLLEGE IN THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA.

WE HAVE GO FROM 2.2 MILLION STUDENTS IN THE PANDEMIC, TO SOMEWHERE AROUND 1.6 OR 1.7 MILLION STUDENTS AS OF TODAY.

IT IS THAT SIGNIFICANT LA SIMPLY A LOSS OF THE STUDENT IT IS A LOSS OF HUMAN CAPITAL.

REMEMBER WHEN WE TALKING ABOUT THE STUDENTS AT COMMUNITY COLLEGE WERE TALKING ABOUT THE STUDENTS THAT USUALLY THE ONLY ACTRESS TO HIRE LOCATIONS IS TO COMMUNITY COLLEGE.

MEANING WHEN THEY COME HERE, THEY HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO CHANGE THEIR LIVES FROM THAT POINT ON, AND CHANGE THE WAY THAT THEY EARN INCOME, IT IS A HUGE LOSS OF HUMAN CAPITAL.

THE POTENTIAL IF WE DO NOT DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE ENROLLMENT.

AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR COMMENTS AND SUPPORT TRUSTEES I TRULY APPRECIATE YOU PERSONALLY AND PROFESSIONALLY, WE HAVE WORKED TOGETHER FOR SEVEN YEARS AND I DO REMEMBER THAT SNOWY DAY WHEN MR. ARTHUR SHOWED UP AN AFTERNOON IN WYOMING.

THEY WERE DRIVING AND JUST A LOT OF SNOW STARTED COMING DOWN.

I REMEMBER THEY COULD NOT LEAVE THE HOTEL THAT NIGHT BECAUSE IT WAS SNOWING SO MUCH.

SO IT IS FOND MEMORIES, SOME OF YOU OVERSEE KNOW I AM COMPETITIVE AND I LIKE TO LOOK AT T EVERYTHING.

IN HIS WELL NOW, I AM SECOND LONGEST SERVICE PRESIDENT STARTING IN JULY OBVIOUSLY ONCE I START THE BEGINNING OF MY EIGHTH YEAR I WAS SOLELY ON THE LEAD FOR THE SECOND LONGEST PRESIDENT ONLY FOLLOWING DR.

MICHAELS WHO WAS HERE I BELIEVE 13 YEARS.

HOWEVER IN MODERN HISTORY IF YOU WILL, I AM THE LONGEST-SERVING PRESIDENT SENSE THE END OF THE 1990S TO NOW.

I DON'T THINK ANY PERSON HAS SERVED LONGER I BELIEVE FIVE YEARS AND TEN MONTHS OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT.

THAT IS A SECOND LONGEST IN MODERN HISTORY.

AND IT HAS BEEN GREAT.

DOING THAT WITH ALL OF YOU, I WOULD NOT HAVE ANY OTHER WAY THANK YOU.

>> THANK YOU, DR. FIERRO.

VICE PRESIDENT LOPEZ DR. OKAY.

>> THANK YOU BOARD OF TRUSTEES REAL QUICK I DID WANT TO MAKE A COMMENT, OR AT LEAST TO RESPOND TO A COMMENT I HEARD EARLIER TODAY REGARDING A FLYER THAT WAS ANNOUNCED.

YES, THAT FLYER DID INCLUDE THE FLYER DID SHOW THE AVERAGE FULL-TIME FACULTY SALARY OF $163,000.

THAT AMOUNT IS INTENDED TO POINT OUT, THE TOTAL SALARY AND BENEFITS OF MORE THAN 250 FULL-TIME FACULTY AT THE CAMPUS.

AS APPLICANTS ACTUALLY CLICK ON THE APPLICATION ITSELF, IT DOES.OUT, WHAT THAT MAXIMUM BEGINNING SALARY IS, LIKE ANY OTHER POSITION ON CAMPUS.

WHICH RANGES BASED ON EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE.

AND THAT RANGES FROM $70,000 THROUGH AS HIGH AS $107,614.

AND THAT IS DRIVEN ON EDUCATIONAL AND THEIR EXPERIENCE.

SO, I JUST WANTED TO POINT THAT OUT, ON THAT IT WASN'T, IT IS NOT INTENDED TO VISIT ME MISLEADING IT IS TRUTHFUL INFORMATION, AND AGAIN BOTH OF THE NUMBERS ARE IN THERE, THE STARTING SALARIES IS JUST A SALARY ITSELF, IS NOT TOTAL COMP.

SO YOU KNOW THAT IT'S EVEN A HIGHER NUMBER IF YOU ARE INCLUDING BENEFITS IS TOTAL COMP.

SO IT IS A FACTUAL NU SALARY AND BENEFITS OF OUR FULL-TIME FACULTY IS 263,000.

I MEAN, A HUNDRED AND 63,000 I AM SORRY.

163 I AM SORRY.

I JUST WANTED TO POINT THAT OUT REAL QUICK.

SINCE TRUSTEE PEREZ MENTIONED THAT I DO WANT TO FOLLOW UP PARKING AS WELL, BECAUSE I DID HEAR SOMETHING.

WE DID WAVE PARKING, WE HAVE WAIVED PARKING SENSE THE SUMMER OF 2020.

WE HAVE NOT BEEN CHARGING PARKING.

SO I AM SURPRISED TO HEAR THAT PEOPLE ARE PAYING FOR PARKING.

AS A MATTER OF FACT WE ARE MOVING ALL OF OUR PARKING MACHINES ON CAMPUS, WE

[02:20:18]

DO PLAN TO REINSTATE PARKING IN THE FALL SEMESTER, BUT LIKE THE PANDEMIC OUR PARKING VENDOR, WENT BELLY UP.

LIKE MANY VENDORS ARE BECAUSE THEIR WHOLE REVENUE SOURCE WAS UNIVERSITIES AND COMMUNITY COLLEGES NONE OF THEM ARE PAYING PARKING SO THEY CANNOT SURVIVE, SO WE HAVE BEEN WORKING ON A CONTRACT IN A PROCESS TO LOOK AT A NEW VENDOR, BUT WE DO OUR PLANNING TO BRING BACK AND REINSTATE PARKING COME THE FALL.

BUT CURRENTLY WE HAVE SUSPENDED PARKING INCLUDING THE SUMMER.

>> COULD YOU ACTUALLY CLARIFY A LITTLE BIT HOW THE AVERAGE WAS CALCULATED?

>> IT TAKES ALL OF OUR 50 PLUS FACULTY.

WITH THE BASELINE SALARY IS, IT DOES NOT ACTUALLY INCLUDE ANY OF THEIR OVERLOAD, SO IT IS JUST A BASELINE SALARY, PLUS THE BENEFITS.

AND THE BENEFITS IS WHERE A LOT OF PEOPLE DO NOT RE BENEFITS.

SO BENEFITS IS MORE THAN HEALTH AND WELFARE.

SO IT IS A TOTAL BENEFITS THAT THE DISTRICT PAYS.

THAT IS WHAT THAT ENCOMPASSES BOTH THE BASELINE SALARY OF THE FULL-TIME FACULTY MEMBER, PLUS THE BENEFITS.

AND THAT'S WHERE THAT 162,000 IS DRIVEN OFF.

>> THANK YOU.

>> YES, THANK YOU.

>> THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THAT INFORMATION, AND THEN WE ARE

[7. Closed Session]

GOING TO MOVE ON TO THE CLOSED SESSION.

AND IN THE CLOSED SESSION WE HAVE QUITE A LOT TO DISCUSS.

WE HAVE 7.01 IS PUBLIC EMPLOYEE EMPLOYMENT EXTENSION EMPLOYMENT CONTRACTS.

THERE ARE 16 OF THEM SO I AM NOT GOING TO READ IT, AND WE HAVE CONSIDERATION OF EXTENSION OF EMPLOYMENT FOR OUR VICE PRESIDENT OF BUSINESS SERVICE.

AND WE HAVE SEVEN PUBLIC EMPLOYEE EMPLOYMENT.

SO THERE WAS A NEW HIRES.

THESE ARE INCLUDING ACTING DIRECTOR, DIVERSITY AND TITLE IX COORDINATORS.

AND WE HAVE ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF ADMISSIONS AND RECORDS.

WE HAVE DEAN OF COUNSELING SERVICE, AND INSTRUCTIONAL DEAN FOR THE HEALTH OCCUPATIONS, WE HAVE PRESIDENT OF HUMAN RESOURCES AND WE ALSO HAVE ACTING VICE PRESIDENT OF STUDENT SERVICE AND ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT.

AND WE ALSO HAVE INTERIM VICE PRESIDENT OF ACADEMIC AFFAIRS, THESE ARE ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENTS TOO.

AND WE ALSO ARE GOING TO HAVE PRESIDENT DR. FIERRO ANNUAL EVALUATION AND THE LAST CONFERENCE WITH LIT LABOR NEGOTIATIONS.

WE REPORT.

SO, THAT IS WHAT WE ARE GOING TO DO IN CLOSED SESSION OKAY.

SO THAT IS IT FOR TWO DAYS TONIGHT, THANK YOU.
